Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to express my objections with the recent experience I had while applying for an Amazon XXXX Chase Visa card. My application reference number is [ XXXX ] dated XXXX XXXX XXXX Upon submitting my application, I uploaded my state ID as requested. Subsequently, I received communication from the company 's fraud department, prompting me to verify my identity. Following the provided instructions, I called the designated number, but unfortunately, the operator was unable to fulfill my request. I was then instructed to visit the nearest Chase Bank branch with my ID for further assistance. I visited the XXXX XXXX Missouri branch, where I met with XXXX XXXX XXXX. I presented my valid ID and credit cards, and XXXX XXXX diligently worked for several days to facilitate communication with the Chase Fraud Department, aiming to verify my identity. To my surprise, after a prolonged period, I received correspondence notifying me that my application was denied on the grounds of fraudulent information. My primary concern lies in the fact that I had presented valid identification during my visit to the Chase Bank branch. The denial of my application occurred only after XXXX XXXX submitted copies of my Missouri State ID, which also confirmed my status as an African-American male. This sequence of events raises serious questions about the timing and basis of the denial. I am deeply troubled by the possibility that I may have been discriminated against based on my race, in violation of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It is disheartening to believe that the actions of an inept fraud determination process, coupled with my racial background, may have influenced the unfavorable outcome of my application. I kindly request a CFPB thorough investigation into this matter and a reconsideration of my application. Additionally, I urge Chase to review and enhance its procedures to ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and without bias. I trust that Chase Bank, as a reputable institution, takes such matters seriously and will address this issue promptly. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a swift and just resolution. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act 15 U.S. Code 1681 section 602 a states " There is a need to insure that consumer reporting agencies exercise their grave responsibilities with fairness, impartiality, and a respect for the consumers right to privacy. XXXX, XXXX and XXXX are consumer reporting agencies, and I am the Consumer. I have the right to make sure my private information isn't shared which is backed by 15 U.S. Code 6801 which states '' It is the policy of the Congress that each financial institution has an affirmative and continuing obligation to respect the privacy of its customers and to protect the security and confidentiality of those customers nonpublic personal information. '' ( Furnisher of information to credit agencies ) is a financial institution by definition under that title. 15 U.S. Code 1681 section 604 ( a ) section 2 states that In general Subject to subsection ( c ), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no other : in accordance with the written instructions of the consumer to whom it relates. '' ( Furnisher of information to credit agencies ) the financial institution and the Consumer reporting agencies XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX do not have my consent to furnish this information and they surely do not have my written consent. Any and all consent to XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX ( Furnisher of information to credit agencies ) whether it be verbal, non-verbal, written, implied or otherwise is revoked. 15 U.S. Code 6802 ( b ) ( c ) states that " A financial institution may not disclose nonpublic personal information to a nonaffiliated third party unless the consumer is given an explanation of how the consumer can exercise that nondisclosure option. '' ( Furnisher of information to credit agencies ) Never informed me of my right to exercise my nondisclosure option. '' 15 U.S. Code 1681s-2 ( A ) ( 1 ) A states " A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. 15 U.S. Code 1681e states ''Every consumer reporting agency shall maintain reasonable procedures designed to avoid violations of section 1681c of this title and to limit the furnishing of consumer reports to the purposes listed under section 1681b of this title. XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX are not maintaining reasonable procedures. Also 12 CFR 1016.7 states that " A consumer may exercise the right to opt out at any time. '' I am opting out of your reporting services. Also, it has come to my attention that late payments and credit utilization data have been included in my credit report, despite falling under the exclusions of transactions and experiences as defined by the law. I am invoking my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), specifically 15 U.S. Code1681 ( a ) ( 2 ), which requires consumer reporting agencies to provide accurate and fair credit reporting. By including late payments and credit utilization data in my credit report, your agency is in direct violation of these federal laws. As a result, this inaccurate and misleading reporting is adversely affecting my creditworthiness and financial standing. Moreover, these violations raise serious concerns about these agencies blatant misuse of my personal information and other fraudulent activities. Under 18 U.S. Code 1028 ( a ), such identity theft offenses are subject to criminal penalties, further emphasizing the gravity of this matter. 15 U.S. Code 1666b Timing of payments : A creditor may not treat a payment on a credit card account under an open-end consumer credit plan as late for any purpose, unless the creditor has adopted reasonable procedures designed to ensure that each periodic statement including the information required by section 1637 ( b ) of this title is mailed or delivered to the consumer not later than 21 days before the payment due date. I HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOUR COMPANY REMOVE ALL OR UPDATE THE FCRA VIOLATIONS LISTED BELOW BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY XXXX. ALL LATE PAYMENTS SHOULD BE UPDATED TOO POSITIVE 15 U.S. Code 1666. 2. UTILIZATION OF THE ACC SHALL NOT BE FURNISHED 15 U.S. Code 1681b - Permissible purposes of consumer reports. 3. INQUIRIES LISTED BE REMOVED.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, my daughter 's wallet was stolen and she has authorized user cards for my Chase cards. The thief used her wallet at a XXXX charging {$980.00} on a Chase XXXX XXXX XXXX and {$990.00} on a Chase XXXX XXXX card, among other cards she owns as a result of this I reported the theft to Chase that day and had the cards replaced. Both unauthorized charges were made on the same day, same location and at around the same time. On XX/XX/2023, I noticed that the charge had been restated on the XXXX Account stating that I received the benefit, which is very surprising as I reported the issues that day the cards were stolen and had cards were replaced. Every single bank that was alerted also removed those charges, including Chase for the XXXX XXXX card, so I am a bit surprised that Chase claims this XXXX Card transaction was valid without any compelling evidence or justification. I called Chase multiple times and even the first agent I spoke to was confused why I was recharged the {$980.00}. This is in contravention of the CFPB regulation. As of XX/XX/2023, I have supplied additional information to Chase proving that my daughters wallet was stolen and several charges were made to multiple credit card she owns. I also included the several emails between my daughter and the police investigating this theft. Using surveillance videos, the Police and XXXX were able to pinpoint the person who stole and used the cards but have been unable to identify the person. I would also like to note Chase banks failure here. This XXXX XXXX is not a card that is used often, as a matter of fact, this card had not been used for at least 6 months before the transaction date and only used for mainly XXXX related purchases, yet a significant charge of {$980.00} at XXXX was authorized without suspicion? The last transaction was on XX/XX/2023 on a XXXX cruise. This is a huge failure on Chase 's security systems.
