Consumer Complaint: Unjust Denial of Identity Theft Claim and Unreasonable Process by Chase Bank I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the handling of my identity theft claim by Chase Bank. On XX/XX/XXXX, I discovered that my account was locked when my XXXX XXXX transaction was denied at a subway station due to fraudulent activity concerns. Despite confirming with a banker that the displayed transactions were legitimate, I later found 38 unauthorized charges totaling over {$9000.00}, all processed within a single day. These transactions, conducted by various XXXX XXXX recipients, ranged from {$33.00} to {$300.00}. Promptly on XX/XX/XXXX, I reported the fraudulent charges over the phone and was assured that I would not be held responsible for unauthorized transactions. However, when I followed up on XX/XX/XXXX, I was informed that the investigation was still ongoing. Shockingly, on XX/XX/XXXX, I visited the bank seeking information on the progress of my claim, only to be told that my claim was denied. The reason provided was that I had supposedly validated one of the transactions, a claim I vehemently dispute. My objections are as follows : Lack of Notification : Chase failed to inform me promptly when the case was closed and denied. According to the information I received, they claimed they were not obligated to notify me. This contradicts the assurance I received during my initial phone report that I would be kept informed of the investigation 's outcome. Unreasonable Requirement : The bank contends that if I validated even one of the 38 charges, I forfeited the right to reclaim my funds. I find this stance illogical and unjust, especially considering the circumstances. During my XXXX XXXX XXXX, I was sleep-deprived, making it highly unlikely that I intentionally validated fraudulent transactions. Ethical Concerns : At no point was I informed that my statements might be used against my claim. This is not a court proceeding ; it is a bank, and I was merely seeking access to my funds. Chase, in its commitment to protecting users from fraudulent charges, should align with its users and uphold the " Zero Liability : Get reimbursed for unauthorized debit card transactions when reported promptly '' policy as advertised on its website. Inconsistencies in Process : The claim, as per Chase 's website instructions, did not appear on the website or app, whether as an open or closed claim. This inconsistency raises questions about the transparency and reliability of the bank 's claims process. I request an immediate reevaluation of my case, considering the aforementioned circumstances. I trust that Chase will rectify this situation promptly, adhering to its commitment to protecting customers from unauthorized transactions. Consumer Complaint: My complaint is about the handling of funds in an estate account for which I am the beneficial owner. My initial contact was on XX/XX/, and to date, Chase has been unable or unwilling to distribute these funds to an active account in my name. On XX/XX/, I provided the information Chase requested : my ID, proof of my change of name through marriage, and a notarized form indicating how I wanted to receive the funds in the estate account. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX, the banker I had been corresponding with, informed me that they could not do a bank transfer and asked me to provide a new notarized form, which I provided on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX informed me that she thought I should have gotten a check already, and that she would get back to me. All of my correspondence with XXXX XXXX is attached. I never got another response from her or from the manager at her branch. I contacted Chase customer support on XX/XX/XXXX and was informed on XX/XX/XXXX that the XXXX XXXX team had my request and would reach out to me. I contacted them on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX for an update and never got a response.

Please update account to PAID AS AGREED. I understand that the debt has been charged off/certificate of indebtedness and can not be reported to my credit report. I am requesting compensation {$1000.00}, for every violation. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act 15 USC 1681 section 602 a states ( Permissible purposes of consumer reports, you can not report transaction history ). Consumer Complaint: After noticing unknown transactions on my checking account on different dates ( XXXX ) for different amounts of {$23.00}, {$93.00}, and {$300.00}. And, on ( XXXX ) for the amount of {$23.00}. I immediately contacted my bank ( Chase Bank ) to report the fraudulent activities. I also decided to stop by the Chase Bank XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX # XXXX, Independence, MO XXXX on XXXX to communicate my situation in person. Supposedly, the customer service lady at this branch reported the fraudulent activity and issued me a new debit card which I had to wait XXXX to receive. After waiting a week without receiving my debit card in the mail I decided to call the Chase Bank customer service over the phone. To my surprise, and based on what they told me, it seemed that the lady at the bank didn't make the report nor let the fraud department know about the unknown transactions. So, the lady over the phone helped me with filling out the report and issuing a new card so I had to wait longer for the card to arrive. Before receiving my new debit card in the mail, on XXXX I noticed a new unknown transaction for {$23.00}. I went back to the same bank branch to let them know about it with great frustration. The transaction showed that somebody withdrew the {$23.00} from my checking at an ATM, using a debit card PIN ( Even when my previous debit card was canceled and closed and I hadn't received my new one in the mail yet ). Neither the customer service lady nor the supervisor in turn could explain to me how this happened. At this point, it was clear to me that I was being a victim of identity theft. Eventually, I was issued a temporary credit for the 4 different amounts reported while the bank proceeded with an investigation which took almost two months. A few days later I noticed that the credit I was issued was taken back by the bank. When I contacted them, the bank told me that I needed to file a police report to get my money back. On XX/XX/2023 I filled out a police report and brought it to the same Chase branch location, where they put it on my fraud claim file. After waiting for some weeks and not getting a response to my claim, I called the fraud department again. After being connected with the Chase bank fraud department representative, I was told that even after filling a police report I wasn't going to get a credit nor my money back for the fraudulent transactions due to I had to wait for the Police, quote... '' to catch the people who committed fraud on my checking account ''. And also that my case was closed. This is a clear situation of discrimination and violation of my civil rights. Due to me not being able to communicate in English, and being my son the one who has helped me throughout this process, and based on the experience I have had with my fraud and identity theft claim I feel I was treated indiscriminately, and also targeted for going against the Chase bank interest by reporting unknown and suspicious activity. To this date, XXXX, my fraud claim is closed and the bank refuses to refund me for the fraudulent charges made to my account, causing stress and emotional damage to my person. Below, I will attach the bank statements with the dates when the fraudulent transactions were made, ( highlighted in yellow ). and, also the police report filled.
