Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I had a package stolen off my porch and tried to resolve this with the company I ordered from, XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have video evidence of the theft. Despite this, XXXX refused to refund me and so I filed a chargeback on my credit card. XXXX then emailed me saying they had refunded the purchase. In reality, they had not and had filed a rebuttal to my chargeback and I never received this rebuttal. I did not receive a letter in the mail nor was there ever a notification on the Chase app, which I check regularly. I called customer service and Chase said there was nothing they could do because 30 days had passed since XXXX submitted the rebuttal. Upon hearing this, I went searching for this letter, and it is buried so deep within several menus and is nearly impossible to locate. It is clear that Chase did not want me to find the letter. Furthermore, their customer service telephone hours are only during weekdays when I am at work, and have a long hold time so it is difficult to reach them if you work full time ( I work long hours in an operating room and can not make phone calls during the day ). After finally finding the letter, I found that the item that was stolen from me ( a formal dress ) was returned in the XXXX store the same day it was stolen, and was exchanged for a bunch of mens ware. Despite having evidence of this crime that I filed with the police, and evidence that XXXX knew the merchandise was stolen and still filed the chargeback rebuttal, Chase refuses to refund these charges. XXXX XXXX # XXXX

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Consumer Complaint: When credit card companies advertise interest-free payment plans that have an associated fee ( i.e. " pay off this purchase in 12 monthly payments with no interest** '' ), shouldn't the fee be clearly expressed as an APR so consumers can clearly understand and compare the costs vs paying interest? Using the term " free '' in this context is misleading. Fore example, a {$21.00} dollar fee on a {$100.00} purchase spread over 12 months is equivalent to a 21 % interest rate and should be disclosed as such so the consumer can make an informed decision -- not hidden in fine print or footnotes, and not requiring the consumer to do the math. Some banks offer a total cost estimate for purchase plans, which may be somewhat helpful in making purchase decisions, but makes it harder to compare fee-based vs interest-based costs.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Information belongs to someone else
Consumer Complaint: This dispute is for in accurate information held against me from Chase in their database I ask that by the fair credit reporting act law they delete those in accurate files because they claim not to have access to their furniture, but they themselves are furniture, and they hold a in accurate result, but not the actual files themselves. Making it very illegal and unfair for me. Therefore, I am asking compensation. I also request for Chase after deleting those files to reconsider me and approve me for the credit card that I recently applied for.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I opened my Chase checking account on XX/XX/XXXX at the Chase branch but my account was locked on XX/XX/XXXX and closed on XX/XX/XXXX. I called on XX/XX/XXXX to resolve the issue with the customer service center and the XXXX office but just received a call today as of XX/XX/XXXX that my account was closed without sharing any information. When I called when my account was locked, I told them about some possibilities related to the incidents that happened back in XX/XX/XXXX, and below is what I shared. I received lots of checks from my previous company and accidentally deposited about six checks twice on XX/XX/XXXX and I requested them to be canceled one by one on XX/XX/XXXX through the app. Then my account was locked and I ended up calling them to follow up but they told me the bank decided to close the account. I tried my best explaining what happened and what actions I made but they just hung up and closed and then charged an additional fee for each canceling transaction. I made a mistake, but quickly made action to solve it but the bank closed it without reading my cancellation request messages or considering my follow-up calls. This is unfair to a customer who tried his best to fix the mistake with an excellent credit score and no criminal records at all. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: Chase Bank closed my Checking Account with no notice, the checking account simply disappeared from my Chase Account including all statements and notices from the past. I can not cancel my Direct Deposit to this checking account at my workplace because they require my account number and other banking information that I can not retrieve due to the account being 'paperless '. I have had direct deposit from my Work to this account for years with no issue and use the funds in the account to pay off Chase credit cards. My paycheck was wired to this checking account today XXXX and I can not access the account or funds to pay my bills. I contacted Chase bank today XXXX and talked to multiple reps. The first rep gave me a second phone number to call to try to reactivate my account, assured me that I will be able to gain access to my account when I called the phone number with no issue and was told not to worry. She further explained that my account was closed due to inactivity, which does not make sense considering regular direct deposits to this account. The rep confirmed that was direct deposit was wired and deposited today XXXX. Calling the second phone number XXXX I was told by the second rep that my checking account can not be reactivated by calling this phone number and that I would be required to physically visit a Chase Branch to make my case to them. To summarize, I can not access my paycheck due to Chase deactivating my checking account with no notice. Thank you

Issue: Improper use of your report

Consumer Complaint: When I opened a business checking account, the Chase banker offered the credit card. I initially declined until she said its beneficial for separating business expenses for tax purposes. I did not hear back from Chase for quite awhile until they asked me to submit our XXXX. I did. Th ey asked me for a bill. Living in a military base does not give me a utility bill, which I explained to chase. On XX/XX/XXXX, I asked about the application. I was told I needed to submit my chase bank statement. I called. A second time because Chase never gave me information on how to send the document, the fraud agent told me to fax the document. I informed him I dont have a fax machine. He hung up on me. I called the 3rd time, the 3rd fraud person told me he will send a link. I told the person I spoke with I do not want another credit check. Then, Chase, though my personal account, notified me that a credit check was done on me for the 2nd time in 2 months that same afternoon. They never actually asked me if I wanted another credit check done on me. Today, XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with the Chase credit bureau specialist, XXXX, who told me they are authorized to do multiple credit checks at their discretion, by the credit bureau, even if I expressly did not give my consent. This is fraud!
