Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: I purchased some items from XXXX XXXX online. The delivery company ( XXXX ) lied and said they delivered my package to me and they didn't. I was clocked into work 3 hours away when they claimed it was delivered to me. Chase offered me a provisional credit but took it back once XXXX XXXX said the package was marked delivered. My package was signed for with a line. I understand it was marked delivered but I did not receive it as I was at work. I should not be held responsible for something I didn't receive. I'm only complaining now because I didn't know about the CFBP but now that I do, maybe they can help. This was {$3300.00}. I still have my letter to Chase and it was totally disregarded.

Issue: Trouble using your card

Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit

Consumer Complaint: I have a complaint regarding regarding lack of notification. There are other problems that may not or may be able to be resolved with the institution themselves, but there is a problem that is impacting millions of other consumers and it needs to be addressed! My problem is that creditors are getting frightened by the economy and all of a sudden they are substantially reducing credit limits. I understand that they have a right to reduce credit limits without cause ( stated in their terms and conditions that they may do this at anytime ), but reducing credit limits on accounts that are in good standing and have been managed appropriately causes a hardship because it impacts the consumers CREDIT UTILIZATION. When credit limits are reduced, it causes high credit utilization, causing their credit score to drop significantly which in turn results in major negative impact because it lowers their scores and that lowered score harms the consumer because it : 1. Makes it difficult to get approved for credit 2. It causes the consumer to only be approved for credit products with less suitable credit terms ( higher interest rates, large origination charges, etc. ). 3. Causes the consumer to have an increase in credit inquiries as they begin to seek credit elsewhere, furthering lowering their credit score and causes them to appear as a high risk borrower because of the multiple credit inquiries. 4. Credit becomes inaccessible. I have recently experienced this with the following lenders who did not care about the harm they caused. They agreed I had managed my account well, but did nothing to assist. Yesterday, XX/XX/2023 JPM Chase told me that although I had managed my account well, they saw negative activity that caused them to have concerns so they reduced both credit card limits on two cards I had for 17 years with their company : 1. JPM CHASE : 2 accounts # XXXX : bal. {$1000.00}, original credit limit {$4100.00}, reduced to {$1400.00}. # XXXX : bal {$310.00}, original credit limit {$3100.00}, reduced to {$700.00} Interest is high : 29.99 %. I believe they were fine at allowing me to carry balances, but since my balances were relatively low on these cards, they were no longer making a lot of money, so they harmed me by pushing me into high utilization, which will ultimately lower my score. In addition, I received NO written advance notice, that would have given me time to pay down the cards to perhaps minimize the damage to my credit score. They reduce my limits without warning on Monday XX/XX/2023. They violated The CARD ACT. The person I spoke to at CHASE told me it just happened the other day, you will get something in the mail soon from us. They are so uncaring. I had one late on one card a few years back because I was in the XXXX Other than that, I have not been late in these cards. So because they were unwilling to assist, I am forced to rush to get credit from someone else to pay them off in full along with other creditors so that my score doesnt further plummet.

Issue: Trouble during payment process

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: When feasible I try to make additional payments of my mortgage. Ie : On XX/XX/23 I paid ahead for my XX/XX/23 payment. Check # XXXX amount of {$850.00}. Then on XX/XX/23 I paid XXXX mortgage payment of again : {$850.00} & check # XXXX. So my next mortgage payment is due XX/XX/23. I did make an inquiry of this & received a message from Chase that additional payments would be applied to the principal. This is the 1st I am hearing of this. I like to go ahead & make added payments when I can as w/ today 's economy I get concerned re : keeping roof over my head. Especially being a senior on a fixed income. I am lodging this complaint because this is the 1st I am hearing of " any additional payments would be applied to principal! '' So, Chase did NOT inform me of this earlier so there was NOT any " full Disclosure '' in this regard.

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low

Subissue: Non-sufficient funds and associated fees

Consumer Complaint: At the beginning of XX/XX/2023 without my authorization ( no signature ) or prior notification Chase Bank " removed '' ( see attached ) my XXXX Sapphire Checking account from its linked status with my primary Sapphire Checking account XXXX and " replaced '' it with another account. Since I did not know that XXXX had become unlinked it no longer met the Sapphire balance requirement and began to be charged a Monthly Service Fee of {$25.00} for XXXX, XXXX, and XX/XX/2023. I brought this to Chase 's attention when I discovered the fees in XXXX. Chase would only give me {$25.00} back stating that is their policy of only one fee reversal a year. I went to my branch and spoke with a client represent, XXXX, who also could not reverse the {$50.00} total charges even though it was not my fault that I received them. To stop further monthly charges I had to change my XXXX from the much more premier Sapphire Checking into a low tier account of Total Checking. Since I did not authorize the XXXX Sapphire " removal '' I want Chase to refund the remaining two {$25.00} Service charges ( for low account balances ) back to my XXXX account. I realize that {$50.00} is not much money but to me it is the principle of trusting one 's bank with your money, since Chase bank did not perform its fiduciary responsibility in my regard by failing to contact me beforehand about changing my XXXX 's checking account status but acted on its own discretion. Thank you for your help.

Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Charged too much interest

Consumer Complaint: I have been wrongfully charged interest rate on this credit card account because I have a 0 % APR on a balance transfer done in XXXX which payment is not due until XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, Statement balance I was charged an interest of {$62.00} for a balance of {$2600.00} subject to a purchase interest rate of 27.74 % ( I have attached the statement document ). This statement period was from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. During that period, a total purchase of {$4800.00} was made and a payment of {$4800.00} was also made resulting in a positive of {$39.00}. I am currently disputing the charge of {$62.00} and will continue to. Yesterday, XX/XX/XXXX, was another monthly billing statement for the period XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. I was charged a purchase interest of {$110.00} for this period on a balance of {$5100.00} subject to a purchase interest rate of 27.99 % ( I have also attached the statement document ). During this period purchases made were {$540.00} and payment made was {$700.00}, which is a positive of {$150.00}. The question I had for the bank representative when I called on the interest charge is to explain why on previous the statement that closed on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX there was a purchase balance of {$2600.00} that led to the {$62.00} interest charge ( even though I had a positive payment of {$39.00} ), but on the current statement that closed on XX/XX/XXXX where total purchase made was {$540.00} ( and a positive payment difference of {$150.00} after paying {$700.00} ), I am now charged an interest of {$110.00} on an interest rate of 27.99 % APR for a new purchase balance of {$5100.00}. It is obvious this is a clear indication of either gross incompetence or a deliberate effort to create financial discrepancy to rob a consumer via interest charges. This is completely unacceptable. I am being charge interest on payments that I have covered, and now I have a balance on a purchase that was not made during a statement period. What is this about. Can someone call these people to order, this is criminal.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card

Consumer Complaint: When I called Amazon customer service, they gave me a full refund for both books, so no additional action is needed. But I believe Amazon is systematically making false credit card charges while they are ending their textbook rental program and trying to squeeze any money from the program by forcing customers to buy the books they rented. These additional charges are happening months after the item was purchased and do not deal with damage but normal wear and tear. In XX/XX/XXXX, Amazon cancelled its textbook rental program. I participated in the program using my Amazon credit card through Chase. Although I have never gotten fees for damage or repair, suddenly I got charges for the full amount for books I returned in XX/XX/XXXX. I did not approve the charges and they came months ( XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX ) after the item was returned in XXXX. This happened on two separate books : Natural Resources Law and Policy and Law of Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance. I received the books back in the mail about 1-2 months after the charges were made, or approximately five months after the books were returned. I believe Amazon is unfairly charging fees to credit cards in an attempt to liquidate and dispose of its rental textbooks at a profit.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, my wallet was lost with my credit cards, ID and other personal information inside of it. I was not aware my wallet was gone until the next day when I noticed fraudulent charges on my card. I immediately contacted my bank to report the card stolen and the charges as fraudulent. They were very helpful at first and told me outright I would not be responsible for any charges that were made on the card that I did not approve of. There were 4 charges in total that I reported as fraudulent. The issue I am having now is they are refusing to credit one of the charges back to me. The information for this charge is below : Merchant Name : XXXX XXXX Amount ; {$710.00} Date of Transaction : XX/XX/ Reason : You received a benefit from this Transaction I received a letter from Chase on XX/XX/XXXX that I was not responsible for the charges made on the evening of XX/XX/XXXX when my card was first lost, but that I would be responsible for this charge of {$710.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. I have XXXX this company and it is not even located in America, it is located in XXXX XXXX, a place I have never traveled to. This letter was sent to me late on Friday evening and conveniently my banks ' fraud department was closed over the weekend. On the morning of XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted my bank to understand why I am being told I am responsible for this charge. I spoke with representative XXXX, and asked her to explain this reasoning to me. She said she was not sure because the receipt she has from the transaction is in XXXX. She could not provide to me any information on what " benefit '' I received from this transaction, or what the purchase was even for. She could not even read the receipt to me because it was all in XXXX. She also could not explain to me why they agree that my card was lost on the XXXX but I am being told to pay for charges on the XXXX. In addition to filing this complaint, I have provided Chase with my work schedule showing I was in the country on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX, and that I was never in XXXX, XXXX. I have also uploaded my work schedule below. I have also filed a police report for fraud with my local precinct and plan to file a complaint with the FDIC as well.

Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account

Subissue: Transaction was not authorized

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, an unauthorized debit in the amount of {$1300.00} was performed on our checking account. It mentioned online realtime transfer to XXXX XXXX, transaction # XXXX, reference XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. When I noticed such transaction that same day, I contacted Chase immediately. They mentioned that it showed as a transaction paying a XXXX XXXX account. I mentioned that the transaction doesn't belong to us and request opening an investigation. Claim number assigned by Chase was XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, Chase responds that the claim doesn't proceed because it allegedly was done with my wife 's login credentials. We proceeded to change and suspend login credentials for my wife and I changed password on my credentials. I again insist that the transaction was done incorrectly and in XX/XX/XXXX, my wife and I submit a letter where we state that we've never had a relationship with XXXX XXXX and that funds should be credited as soon as possible. On XX/XX/XXXX we receive another letter stating that our claim was denied. I contacted XXXX once again and they stated they were going to forward all available information for our review. This never happened.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: The last week of XXXX I called Chase Bank to advise them that I would be using my charge card on a trip to XXXX and that I would specifically be using it for a car rental. I asked if I could do that and asked if the card provided me with collision protection insurance for the car rental. I was told yes, I could use my card in XXXX and that one of its benefits was that it provided collision insurance on car rentals. I arrived in XXXX about a week later on XX/XX/2023 and when I went to pick up my car rental and tried to pay for it with my Chase charge card, the charge was declined. I thought surely that was a mistake because I had already cleared with Chase and very specifically told them I would be using it for this exact purpose but when the care rental agent tried the card again, it was again declined. I think he tried it 3 separate times and each time is was declined. I tried to call Chase on the spot to get it resolved but was not able to get through to the XXXX phone number on the back of the card. I was traveling with 4 other people and we needed to rent the vehicle and be on our way so one of my travel companions offered to put the charge on her credit card but, unfortunately, her card did not offer the collision protection insurance so we were forced to buy the insurance from the car rental company for the amount of XXXX XXXX which is approx {$580.00}. It wasn't until XX/XX/XXXX that I was able to get through to somebody at Chase to get resolution on the security block on my card. However, it was too late at that time to do anything about the insurance that we purchased in order to dive away with the car on XX/XX/XXXX. When we returned the car on XX/XX/XXXX, I was able to transfer the car rental charges from my travel companions card on to my card but again, was still on the hook for the {$580.00} that I would not have had to spend had Chase not made the mistake in the first place. I've contacted Chase several times ; have spoken to several representatives ( one of them even hung up on me ) and the conclusion for each is that there is nothing they can do for me. If they had honored the charge, which I had previously and very specifically told them I would be making, I would have not been in the position of having to pay this expense so I feel that because I did everything right, especially in notifying them of my intentions, and it was their mistake that caused me to incur this expense, that they should reimburse me for the amount of this expense which is approx {$580.00} based on current euro to dollar exchange rates. Can you please help me to get Chase to do the right thing? Thank you! XXXX XXXX XXXX
