Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, a checking account was opened at Chase located at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, FL XXXX. On XX/XX/2023, a check was deposited for the amount of {$480.00} corresponding to payroll by the company XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2023, a check for the amount of {$1900.00} corresponding to payroll was deposited by the company XXXX XXXX. the employer XXXX XXXX issued a direct deposit to the chase account for the value of {$2400.00} corresponding to payroll value that was never reflected in the account. When reviewing the account and making transfers, they inform me that the account is blocked and therefore transfers can not be made or received since the account has a notation and therefore direct deposit from the employer can not be received or transfers made with the money that is reflected in the account corresponding to the value of {$2400.00}. When I contacted Chase by phone, they told me that Chase could not corroborate the first two checks and that is why I made the decision to close the account. On XX/XX/2023, I went to the branch where I opened the account and was attended by the official who opened my account, XXXX XXXX XXXX, and she informed me that Chase raised suspicions about the first two checks because, according to her, they could not verify It was issued by the employer at the telephone number found in the Chase databases, that there is nothing they can do to avoid closing the account and that I will receive a check with the value of the account balance {$2400.00} and that the direct deposit corresponding to the value of {$2400.00} will be returned to the employer since it never entered the account. It should be noted that the checks that raised suspicions are issued by XXXX for payroll, the same company that made the direct deposit. On XX/XX/2023, I went to the bank again to report that no check has arrived and that the transaction has not been returned to my employer and they inform me that the bank has issued two checks in my name, the first with a date on XX/XX/2023 with the value of {$2400.00} corresponding to the sum of the checks issued by the employer and a second check issued on XX/XX/2023 for the value of XXXX corresponding to the direct deposit that according to what I had been informed was going to to be returned to my employer. On XX/XX/2023 I receive the check issued by Chase on XX/XX/2023 corresponding to the value of {$2400.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX I receive the statement from the bank where it is reflected that the two previously mentioned amounts entered the account and that two checks were issued in my name for the corresponding closing of the account. On XX/XX/2023 I went back to the Chase offices to verify the status of the check issued on XX/XX/2023 and they informed me that it takes 15 to 20 business days for it to reach my correspondence. On XX/XX/XXXX, I go back to chase to get information about the check issued on XX/XX/2023 and XXXX XXXX XXXX informs me that this check is withheld since they have not been able to verify the first checks. I provide the phone numbers of my employer so that they can be verified and it informs me that these do not correspond to the numbers in their databases, and that the checks raised suspicions because they were issued by XXXX and not made manually as it was they have in their photographic records, in this way I ask that the money be returned to my employer and so they make the payment again to my bank account opened in another bank and they tell me that they can not do that. As it is today, my employer does not have the money and neither do I, this money is withheld by the chase without a logical explanation I need a solution to the problem and we are going for 2 months and I still do not have the money. I have already tried to solve the problem with the bank but it has been impossible. Neither my employer has the money and I have not received it. the money has been retained by the Chase Bank for more than two months.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/23 i deposited 2 checks. One was from my grandmother, the other my paycheck. I called the bank starting on XX/XX/23 because my account had been frozen. This is the 2nd time they have done this. When asked why, they have told me a million things from the checks being fraud or the account not having money in it. They evebtually told me they were ending our relationship and I could get my paycheck out at a branch once it cleared. After beind told a million times I had to wait 10 business days for them to send the checks back and than other 10 business days for them to mail me a check. By that time it would have been a month. It has already been a week and I have been told that I can not touch my money and they will hold it indefinitely. I need my money. There is nothing wrong with these checks. The one they sent back, I took to the bank it was from and had it cashed. My paycheck which they froze before as well eventually cleared so why are they holding it again?

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I received a message via XXXX from a friend/comadre asking me to borrow money for an emergency and that she would pay me back later. She is a very trustworthy friend and we always communicate through this medium and that is why I did not hesitate to send her money through XXXX, I thought it was her and half an hour later I realized that it was not her that someone had hacked her account and they were asking for money on his behalf. My Chase bank detected that it was fraud and put this amount of {$500.00} dollars on review and they told me in customer service that I had to call the fraud department of Chase bank to authorize this amount. I called Chase bank several times and they have their notes from my call where I clearly said that the transfer by XXXX was a fraud and that requested that they stop the transaction. In one of the calls, a customer service operator told me not to worry because the money had not left my account since I had not made the call to authorize the money, which is why Chase bank had it under review. I never called the fraud department to authorize the transaction that according to them needed to be done in order to ship through XXXX. And about 5 or 6 hours later Chase and XXXX send me a message saying that they had transferred the money to the person who was stealing from me. Right now I believe that my Chase bank and this XXXX company were complicit in this robbery because my Chase bank decided in a letter that it sent me that it was not going to do anything and that it closed my dispute request to return money to my account.. I think they didn't do any research because they had my account in her direct access and didn't cancel XXXX 's shipment. Because there is no way to cancel the shipping money, because they protect this company so much that it has defrauded and deceived millions of people. I make the call with the Chase bank and follow all their shipping cancellation steps and why because they decided to make this shipment to this person who was deceiving me by pretending to be someone else, that is, my friend/comadre. The next day tuesday XX/XX/XXXX. I make the reclamation and complaint about this case. I do not understand why XXXX did not make any request to this person who deceived me to return my money XXXX XXXX with phone number XXXX since XXXX has to know his information about him and his bank where it was sent the money. This situation make me really sick and nervous every day. Thank you and I hope that you can help me recover the money that was stolen from me. My name is : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX, Texas XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: So I've been in the jewelry and watch business for the last 9 years, and take a large amount of business via cash transactions, I had a account with chase and they closed my account for doing what the account was intended to do deposit cash, i also paid myself in cash and they closed my personal account ... Depositing legal tender " cash, '' into a bank account is the intended purpose yet the choose to close my account last year. This year and most recently i opened a marriott XXXX credit card and always paid my bill by bank debit, all was fine they charged me a annual fee i paid, paid the bill in full every month. Tonight i logged in after my card was declined on a business trip and it said account closed, I called them and asked why I was told it was a business decision. I asked at the least for a refund of the annual fee... its for 1 year... .and was told they would not refund the fee. In america banks should be obligated to accept us dollar deposits in any amounts, and if your going to close a account should obligate you to credit back the annual fee you charged your customer.

Consumer Complaint: I inadvertently paid {$3000.00} to Chase rather than XXXX on or about XX/XX/XXXX. I realized the mistake on XX/XX/XXXX and closed Chase customer service and was assured the payment would be reversed and it would take 2 days. It didnt happen. I called again on XXXX and was transferred to the payments dept and told it takes 10 days and due to the holiday, my money would be back in my account on XXXX. It didnt happen. I called again on XXXX and a payment supervisor named XXXX was beyond rude and told me it would XX/XX/XXXX as they hadnt received the payment until XX/XX/XXXX. She then hung up on me. This is contrary to what every other person told us. I immediately called back and spoke to supervisor XXXX who said that no refund had been initiated and it will now be XXXX business days. We were in vacation during this ordeal. Upon our return, there was a letter in our box dated XX/XX/XXXX indicating that the payment has been adjusted. I need my money asap as they have had it for nearly 3 weeks and no one seems to know or care how to correctly proceed. Thank you in advance.

Consumer Complaint: I was trying to log in to my CHASE credit card account. I was redirected by a page saying i was logged out due to a security issue. I was directed to call a XXXX # and was then speaking with someone regarding a charge to my account for a purchase for {$200.00} on XXXX. I HAD NOT MADE THIS PURCHASE so I continued to listen to how to get the money refunded into my account. Then another charge was made TO MY CREDIT/ DEBIT CARD ; this was for {$300.00}. I was able to see these transactions and thought the were illegitimate charges. while following directions he took over my pc, but " accidently '' returned {$3000.00}, not {$300.00}. When this happened I told him to just refund what I was owed and be done with this transaction. He told me I could not do that, I would have to go to XXXX or XXXX and get debit cards to pay them back the $ I was given by mistake. I told him I was not able to go to the store for this and he got mad and I told him I would not be going and hung up! My computer is still trying to update with his scamming program. I do not know how to stop it. I turn off the computer when it starts " updating '', but it is still doing this. I have contacted CHASE and they are replacing my card, but not sure which accounts they may have gotten into. I actually saw the {$3000.00} deposit in my checking account. It is not there now.
