Consumer Complaint: Chase ; I spoke with two representatives both on the phone call on XX/XX/XXXX. I included my friend on the speaker phone call as a witness. It was a futile exercise. They denied all of my questions. Chase bought my mortgage as of XX/XX/XXXX. My on time payment history is excellent. I paid {$1700.00} for the past 6 years until Chase bought my mortgage. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a bill from Chase stating I had a " shortage of {$3500.00}. '' They attributed this to a XXXX escrow analysis based on a projection of future taxes. I had already checked with my town tax office and they said they don't know what the taxes for 3rd and 4th quarter will be until XX/XX/XXXX. Chase however used older and higher taxes to put on the lines for 3rd and 4th quarter. They said their policy is to always have two ( 2 ) months total escrow on hand. This is a " policy '' I was never notified of, nor was it in the " Welcome to Chase '' package they sent in XXXX, XXXX. This one-year in escrow advance and an arbitrary property tax increase is questionable and unacceptable to me. Today is my XXXX birthday. They gave me 3 options : 12 months spread of {$2200.00} as of XX/XX/XXXX ; # 2 pay shortage of {$3500.00} " and adjust my monthly mortgage to {$1900.00} as of XX/XX/XXXX. # 3 pay part of the shortage. I understand that the rest of the shortage will be divided evenly and added to my monthly mortgage payment. ''

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with a recent experience involving Chase 's new " My Chase Plan '' service. On XX/XX/2023, I inadvertently enrolled in the " My Chase Plan '' service for a charge line amount of {$6000.00}, with the transaction date being XX/XX/XXXX. My intention at the time was to explore this new service, as I was curious about its features. However, I quickly realized that the navigation process lacked the option to revert to previous steps or cancel actions. This unfortunate sequence of events led to my unintended enrollment and subsequently, a fee of {$31.00} was charged to my account as of the XX/XX/XXXX month closing statement date. Understanding the gravity of the situation, I promptly reached out to Chase customer service within minutes of my accidental enrollment in " My Chase Plan. '' I conveyed to them that I had mistakenly chosen this option and kindly requested its cancellation. It is important to note that this transpired shortly after XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I immediately provided evidence of my actions, having taken a screenshot of my selected option, clearly indicating that my request to avail the " My Chase Plan '' option was under review. The status displayed as " in-process '' at precisely XXXX XXXX. In my plea to customer service representatives, I emphasized the urgency of my situation, beseeching them to revoke the unintended enrollment and eliminate any associated fees. To ensure absolute clarity, I executed a full payment of {$6900.00} on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX, two days prior to the due date. This payment included the {$6000.00} charge, effectively nullifying my initial request to utilize the " My Chase Plan '' service. I am reaching out to you with the hope that this matter can be resolved amicably and in a manner that maintains the trust I have in Chase as a financial institution. It is my sincere belief that a fair resolution can be reached, wherein the erroneous fee is waived and the accidental enrollment is rectified. In my opinion this is very deceptive and fraudulent scheme to fool unsuspecting customers. If they don't make any amends to this, i'm sure more customers will be impacted by this deceptive practice and lose trust with this company and financial institution as a whole. I appreciate any attention to this issue and anticipate a favorable resolution. Regards, XXXX

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: After contacting a merchant that charged me several times without providing a service, I initiated a chargeback with Chase on XX/XX/XXXX. I won this on XX/XX/XXXX. However, the merchant simply charged my card again for the full amount of the dispute even though I had won the dispute. I called Chase and the answer was unsatisfactory. They opened another dispute that the merchant will have an opportunity to appeal again. There was no mechanism for automatically resolving this in the favor of the consumer. There also wa n't any mechanism for requiring a higher burden of proof from the merchant in the case of this repeat-chargeback. They also said they could not block the merchant from charging me a third time. Rather they would ask the merchant to stop charging but there is no guarantee they would comply. In short, there appears to be nothing stopping the merchant from repeating this behavior into perpetuity. And every time I dispute it, they will have another chance to win the dispute. One day they might win.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Chase offers a service called My Chase Plan that allows you to pay off a charge over time. They charge a monthly fee up front and once you commit to the plan it can not be canceled or paid off early without paying the full fee. I set up a 12 month plan for a dental expense I had charged XX/XX/XXXX for {$1200.00}. The fees were {$100.00} ( {$7.00} per month ). I had been paying off the interest savings balance each month and then one month I paid a little extra to cover new charges. They paid off the plan 7 months early instead of applying the payment to other charges. They claimed this is in their policy but this is not in any obvious place that I could find. Nor when I paid off the extra amount did it state it would go towards this plan. I expected it to go against new charges. I expected the plan to run for the full 12 months. Now if I don't pay off that amount from other charges I will also be charged interest. I called and asked them to either reinstate the plan or reimburse me for the 7 months of charges for paying off my plan early. They refused to do either. This My Chase Plan is deceiving to consumers and they should not be allowed to continue using it as is. They need to make sure that when payments go into a plan they are only paid as requested by the borrower. Not applying then payments whichever way they see fit. Please review their practices so other consumers are not scammed out of fees like me.
