Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem accessing account
Consumer Complaint: This affects access to my Chase checking account as well as my Chase credit card accounts. I've been a Chase customer for quite some time and ( like many people ) my primary method of accessing my Chase accounts is via their mobile app ( specifically, XXXX ). Chase has decided to restrict access to my accounts unless I first click on an advertisement about a service I don't have with them. Specifically, there is a message at the bottom of the screen that says " Start your home search with us. Compare mortgage rates, view loan options and find a home you love. '' Chase has designed this so that I can not continue to view my banking accounts unless I interact with this ad, either by clicking " No, thanks '' or " Get started ''. I have no desire to be forced to interact with an advertisement just to get to my bank accounts, ever. At this point, I can't even get to my accounts to transfer funding to another bank to get rid of Chase without being required to first interact with their ads. Note on the included screenshot that the entire screen is greyed out and inaccessible except for the ad at the bottom which must be interacted with in order to access my accounts.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Unable to open an account
Consumer Complaint: My father opened a trust acct with Chase in XXXX. In XXXX he amended his trust, this was the 2nd amendment to the trust, and it made him the trustee, my sister XXXX, the successor trustee, and me the successor to XXXX. My father passed away in XXXX. My sister presented the XXXX, SC branch with a copy of the Certification of Trust for the 2nd Amendment showing her as the successor trustee on XX/XX/XXXX. The amendment was previously not filed with the bank due to the Covid19 pandemic and lockdowns in place at the time it was drafted. For whatever reason, Chase also added me as a trustee. Because I was a JP Morgan XXXX, I went to great lengths to avoid becoming a fiduciary on an acct during my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. My sister has been back to the branch on XX/XX/XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. The XXXX, SC branch told my sister that they had everything that they needed in every instance that she went to the branch. I discovered that I was incorrectly shown as a trustee on this acct, and I went to the XXXX, OH branch on XX/XX/XXXX to file a complaint in regard to removing myself as a trustee. I questioned the branch as to why I was not informed that I was added as a trustee on this acct. The Branch Manager, XXXX XXXX admitted that Chase Bank did not have an Account Signature Card on file for me and did not have a copy of the Certification of Trust for the 2nd Amendment, which I gave to them at that time. I received a phone call from Chase Branch Complaints and Escalations on XX/XX/XXXX and they told me I would need to go back into the bank branch to sign an Account Maintenance Form to remove myself as a trustee. I did this on that day. As of XX/XX/XXXX I am still listed as a trustee. This is an issue because I was previously an employee of XXXX XXXX XXXX, and I was terminated because of making deposits to an account in which I was a control person on. I was holding money for my father, and I was making a payment for charges incurred by the trust, which I had put on my credit card. A teller at the XXXX, OH Chase branch informed me when I made the payment to my personal credit card ( that the trust had incurred ) that the payment had generated a Currency Transaction Report for being over {$10000.00}, and to avoid that in the future, I would need to keep my transactions below {$10000.00}. My intention was to deposit the money that I was holding for the trust, so my sister ( the trustee ) could liquidate the estate. I proceeded to make several deposits less than {$10000.00}, which then generated a Suspicious Activity Report. Because Chase listed me incorrectly as a trustee, I was terminated from my job for a Code of Conduct violation for making transactions as a fiduciary due to their Personal Account Dealing Policy. My contention is that if I was not listed as a trustee, then this is not a personal account. Also, why did a bank employee divulge that a Currency Transaction Report was generated and then instruct me how to deposit funds in a way that would get me into trouble. I am contending that a bank customer made the transactions, and the bank can not penalize a customer for making deposits to an account, especially when the deposits are not to their own account. My name and Social Security Number should not have been connected with the trust and my personal account.
