Consumer Complaint: I was the victim of check fraud on XX/XX/23. I reported the fraudulent activity that day, started a claim with Chase 's fraud unit, and froze the account. I also went to a local bank branch in Michigan, where I was at the time, and made an appointment to see a banker in the morning to transfer our funds out of the frozen account to a new one. I was informed of the need to file a police report and XXXX fraud statement, after which it would take 3-5 business days to complete the investigation process and return our lost funds, which totalled {$20000.00} + a {$9.00} fee for ordering the fraudulent checks. Upon returning home on XX/XX/XXXX, I filed the police report and brought it to my local branch in XXXX and filled out the XXXX form in the presence and at the direction of a banker. They faxed the documents to the fraud department and told me I would be notified when the investigation was complete. I called back on XX/XX/XXXX to check the progress of the claim. I was told nothing substantive, except that the investigation should be complete in another day or XXXX. I called back again on XX/XX/XXXX, and was again told nothing of substance except for an assurance the money would be returned in the next few days. I called in another XXXX times on XX/XX/XXXX, and was now told that it could take up to an additional XXXX business days before my money would be returned, again with no actual information as to the reason for the delay. After another XXXX days without any update, I called again on XX/XX/XXXX, and this time was told that the claim had been resolved earlier in the week. This was a shock, as I had received no notification or communication on the matter, nor was there any message or indication in my online banking account portal referencing the investigation in any way. And of course, the {$20000.00} was still missing from my account. After lengthy discussions with the fraud line operator and a supervisor, I was told that the issue was that the investigation was only flagged to the old checking account - the one that was frozen and closed - and that some of the fraudulent activity was transferred over to the newly opened account and was affecting the balance there. This despite the fact that the account did not exist when the fraudulent transactions took place, and was only opened at Chase 's instruction when they started the fraud claim, apparently confusing themselves in the process about what they were even investigating. I was further told that the only thing anyone could do was to reopen the claim with the new account numbers added to essentially start the process over, and that the money would be returned in ( once again ) 3-5 business days. The following Monday, XX/XX/XXXX, I once again called in to confirm that the investigation process was actually underway, and was informed that it in fact had not been started, despite repeated assurances the Friday before from the supervisor that it was and that he had made notes to expedite it however possible. The operator said that the new investigation required the police report, but were able to find it after I explained that it had been submitted weeks earlier. They still said that I would need to submit a new XXXX claim, however. Later that day, I visited my local branch to submit the new form and was told I could not see a banker until Wednesday the XXXX. After I insisted to see someone that day, I was sent to another branch where I was able to sit down with a different banker. She had me call the fraud line again in her presence. This time, the new operator said that actually, they did not need a new XXXX claim but did need the police report to be resubmitted, the opposite of what I had been told on the earlier call. I had all the paperwork with me anyway, so the new banker faxed it in again and I was told that it would take until the following day to be accepted, and then 5-7 business days to process the claim. Quite irate, I demanded to know why I was being told different things every time I called in, why I was not notified of either the earlier claim be marked resolved or of the need for additional documents that was holding up the new claim, which I only learned by repeatedly calling in and showing up at branches and demanding updates. I was told that, despite having been told that I could receive phone updates earlier, there would be no telephonic or digital communications about the claim ( XXXX ), and the updates would only be sent via physical mail. As of XXXX days after the fraud claim was initiated, I have received no such updates or information of any kind in the mail. I told them that using the slowest possible communication method would only serve to delay further a process that had already taken XXXX longer than I was promised and only seemed to be further away from actual resolution than where it began, and asked for overnight mail if they would not use digital or phone communications. I am now nearing a month without having been reimbursed for the money stolen from my account. I have followed every direction from Chase 's fraud department, which I have been forced to initiate interactions with on a dozen different occasions in order to receive any information on why the money is still missing, and what little information I have received is contradictory, unhelpful and completely unreliable. Chase 's representatives consistently plead powerlessness and ignorance in the face of their own internal operating systems, and are unwilling or unable to provide any proactive information about the theft, what they are doing about it or what is needed from me in order to keep things moving. I believe Chase should be held liable for failure to protect my funds and its obstruction and lack of communication and transparency as to the investigation into that failure.

Consumer Complaint: Last week I signed on to my Chase Visa account. Before I could access my account, I first received two agreements that have to be signed to access the account. The first agreement is 125 pages long, the second 10 pages long. As a long time Chase Visa account holder who has relied on internet access to check on my account, I found the 125 page agreement customer-unfriendly ( to say the least ). Im supposed to sign 125 page document from a bank to access an account Ive accessed for years? A bank document no less, fraught with fine print and who knows what liabilities? I called Visa and spoke with 4 different representatives. I learned this is a standard '' update. Yes, but never before has such an agreement been close to this long and so customer-unfriendly, and what exactly am I signing without carefully combing through a 125 page bank agreement? They told me I can continue to receive monthly statements by mail. Yes, but one of the reasons internet access is so vital is to monitor the charges which, experience proves, occasionally are fraudulent. They told me that I can continue to do so with the monthly mail statements. I told them that Id rather take the time to contact the appropriate oversight agencies to complain rather than read a 125 page agreement. Therefore I turn to you. Finally, I asked if they are receiving similar complaints from other customers. Indeed they are. I am now their ombudsman. Please look into this and report back to me. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: I made a payment to JPMCB CARD SERVICES in XXXX and it was rejected do to insufficient funds. I was alerted and resubmitted the payment. As someone who is diligent about credit responsibilities, I checked my statement in XXXX, and it stated that there was no payment due and everything is as it should be. This issue continued, not due to insufficient funds, but due to Chase no longer accepting my payment account, but had never alerted me and continued to allow me to make these payments. I am attaching statements from XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX. Notice that at the top of each statement, it states that my account is in good standing. Contrary to these statements, Chase reported both a XXXX date late payment and a 60 day late payment. I feel this is an egregious series of misleading communications on the part of Chase.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, I called to ask that my card be frozen/ replaced because I had lost it. At the time, they agreed and freeze the card so that no payments went though. However, because I had moved, it was difficult to get me the new card because I needed to update my address, but needed the new card to do that. It was all a bit silly, but since the card was frozen, I thought that was the end of that. A few months later, In XXXX, I see charges again, and I call to complain. They said that those were subscriptions and somehow circumnavigated the card freeze. I paid that off and demanded that they cancel the card such that no more charges could go through. If one of my subscriptions stopped working, they would ask me for an updated card. A month or so later, I saw more charges from XXXX, and called to complain for a third time. They apologized and agreed to cancel the card. The last problem at the beginning of XXXX. 6 months later, I get charged again, but as I no longer track this card ( believing that CHASE has kept their word and closed the account ), I did not realize this until I started getting texts and emails saying that there was something wrong with my card. I downloaded the app, to confirm my account was closed, and found to my frustration an additional charge as well as a late fee and interest fee. I paid off the charge, but called to complain for the FOURTH time, since no charges were supposed to occur on this card that I have not had since XXXX of last year. They promised again that they account would be closed but refused to waive the fees they applied to the card despite them only occurring because they repeated broke their promise to close my account. At this point it feels like they are engaged in some sort of scheme to keep the account open so that I get charges and fees. I am not seeking government help in getting this company to close my account. If I need to go to court and file a small claim against them over the fees I will, but this all seems absurd, and I would prefer to leave on somewhat more amiable terms.

Consumer Complaint: On or about XXXX XXXX, 2023 my checking account with Chase Bank was unexpectedly closed without any alerts or warnings. My account is also connected to my son 's chase XX/XX/XXXXaccount. My son 's name is XXXX XXXX, XXXX We both went to a chase branch to get some answers on why our accounts were closed. The representative and the manager at the branch told us that they did not know why my account and my son 's XX/XX/XXXXaccounts were closed. They stated that it was not hacked. This is a very difficult painful, frustrating situation to myself and my son. My son is in the process of attending college and he needed to purchase some items with his chase XX/XX/XXXXcard, but when he went to use the card, the account was CLOSED. I have direct deposit for my pay and I also use this account for my E-Z pass and other matters. How can Chase just dump someone's account without notice. This has caused substantial injury to myself and my son and we are totally upset and angry that this happened Also be advised that I never received any letters in the mail regarding closing our accounts.
