Consumer Complaint: As an XXXX XXXX and longtime customer with Chase Bank, unfortunately I fell for a typical scam. I sent money to who I thought was my XXXX through XXXX. I've done this before and it didn't raise any flags. She wrote me off of social media which we use often to communicate, and asked for help paying a rent bill. I ended up sending the money through XXXX to the phone number that had apparently been hacked. I told my institution about the scam while the transaction was still pending and they said they would start the claim and I would get provisional credit in my account in the next 10 days. I haven't got any recovery and I've been denied XXXX times for the claim even though several other people were scammed as well and received their funds back with other banks like XXXX, and they filed after I did. I've also walked into the branch several times and they keep assuring me Chase Bank will refund me the money if I continue to call them ans escalate the scam and they aboslur can not help on the branch but I will definitely get my money back. It's sad the bank allows such a way to transfer money without any responsibility even though they had other regulations and obligations if this transfer was done differently. It's in their best interest to keep pushing customer to use XXXX so they never have to be responsible and can just say sorry you signed up for it.

Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX while traveling in XXXX de XXXX, XXXX I was robbed at knife point. At the time I had cash, my wallet with my Chase debit card, and my cell phone. All of those things were taken. I called Chase to have my card closed and discovered that XXXX unrecognized charges had been made to the account totaling {$64.00}. The man I spoke to assured me that everything would be ok that the card was closed, and that Chase had credited my account. I spent one more day in XXXX but because my nerves were frazzled, I just wanted to get out of the big city and so I sent myself {$380.00} via XXXX XXXX so that I could have some money. I also advised my XXXX host that I had been robbed and she offered a night for free. In the stress of the next few days, I did not make a police report. I simply wanted to get out of XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I returned to the United States, shortly after on XX/XX/XXXX I received a notice from Chase denying my claim and informing me that they would be taking {$64.00} out of my bank account. When I called, they told me that I needed to send in documentation. I told them that the previous representative had not told me that I needed to have a police report. They said they would not help me. I asked for the information used to come to the decision and received nothing. As such, I faxed them my XXXX XXXX receipt and the communication I had with my XXXX host to show that A. I had informed someone about the robbery and B. That I was forced to XXXX XXXX money to myself. I have still not heard back from Chase. Seeing as I had been robbed and violently assaulted on the XXXX of XXXX, it would have been absolutely impossible for me to have used the card on the XXXX. I was given conflicting information by different Chase representatives, however, in the end my claim was baselessly denied. Chase sending me a letter informing me that they were going to debit my account was akin to being robbed again. I would like my claim properly handled.

Consumer Complaint: I contacted with Chase Bank and asked to cancel PMI ( XXXX Mortgage XXXX ). They said I have couple options to waive PMI. The first one was XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ). During this conversation I ask them how much initial principal payment do I need to make to waive PMI. They responded that I have to lower my loan balance as {$190000.00} or less. I told asked specifically how much do I need to pay. I asked this because I have Deferred Balance. The agent told me that Your investor requires your principal balance to be at {$190000.00} by XX/XX/2023. This means that you will need to make a principle payment of {$4600.00} to remove PMI early from your account. I told them I still have deferred balance and the agent said I do not need to make any payment for deferred balance. It is not a requirement. So I made a payment which is {$4600.00} and lowered my balance as of {$190000.00}. I just received a secure message from the bank and has been told Hello XXXX, Good day! My name is XXXX, and on behalf of my colleague XXXX, I'm following up about your PMI waiver request. Thank you for your patience while we review your account. On XX/XX/2023, we have completed a PMI research on your account, and we determined that you may cancel PMI on your loan by paying down your loan balance to {$190000.00}. Please see attached letter for reference. However, allow me to clarify that it will be the combination of the following principal balances : - {$190000.00} current principal balance- {$7500.00} deferred principal balance XXXX principal balance : {$200000.00} I'm sorry for the initial information that has been provided to you, as there has been an error on our end. Moreover, you can make an additional payment of {$7500.00} to principal, and once it is posted, we can certainly submit another PMI waiver review on your account. I encourage you to reach out through the XXXX XXXX XXXX, if you have any other questions or need assistance. We remain committed to providing you with excellent service. Have a great rest of your day. Best regards,. The result is not as we discussed before. As you see on the message, the error occurred by the banks end.

Consumer Complaint: I booked a round trip XXXX XXXX through chase travel XXXX and charge it to my chase card. When I went through the booking process, it said economy which includes a free checked bag for the flights and even now in chase app, it shows economy. Ive attached s screenshots of the chase app where it clearly also says economy. When I checked into my flight with XXXX, it said basic economy which requires a {$35.00} fee for each of the flights. When I called chase, they said it was booked as basic economy. This is very misleading, as during the process of booking, it was identified as economy. I just now checked the receipt sent to me after payment which says basic economy, but when I booked it said economy.

Consumer Complaint: I received a cashiers check from a seemingly legitimate buyer of my guitar which I had online for sale. The cashiers check was written for {$1600.00} over the asking price. The buyer ( apparently elderly, XXXX XXXX said his son accidentally wrote the check for the guitar and the moving fee ( apparently XXXX was moving ). I e-deposited the cashiers check ( {$3500.00} ) to my Chase checking account on XX/XX/2023. I did XXXX the excess money ( {$1600.00} ) to the mover. Shortly after that, I came to my senses and suspected this may be a scam. I contacted XXXX and Chase immediately. I actually contacted Chase at least 3x on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I explained my concern. The first rep told me that as soon as the XXXX transaction shows up on my Chase account, I can call them to have them reverse it, before XXXX the next day. The next day, in the XXXX, I saw that the XXXX transaction appeared as pending in my Chase account. The cashiers check cleared at that point. I called Chase again - two different reps assured me that the cashiers check was cleared, and XXXX of the Chase reps assured me that that meant it was legitimate and that the funds have been transferred from the bank on the check ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) to my account. I explained that I was still in the window of time to reverse the XXXX transaction, but the Chase rep conveyed to me that the cashiers check was legitimate. I even contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to see if they could help verify the check- they said they dont do that unless youre a business inquiring. I have spent countless hours contacting ( or trying to contact ) XXXX, XXXX, local police department ( XXXX XXXX, IL, with whom I filed a report ), FBI online site, FTC, Illinois attorney general office, US Postal Service investigation division, and other resources. I essentially have been told that there is no way they will catch the perpetrator ( they dont have the resources to investigate or whatever ). I have been a client of Chase for at least XXXX decades and have been in good standing. For this reason and for because the Chase reps provided me assurance that the cashiers check was legitimate, during a window of time that I could have reversed the XXXX transaction, I asked that they please credit my account with the {$1600.00}. They just provided me with a boilerplate, generic response and to ask XXXX to help me. XXXX says that Chase and law enforcement should help me. They all just pass the buck to XXXX another, like a hot potato.

Consumer Complaint: *See Attachments I am a Natural Person and Consumer, and writing you Chase Cardmember Service , Customer Service to DISPUTE and Put you on NOTICE of a BILLING ERROR. I received a Chase Freedom statement from you stating that I have a Minimum Payment DUE of {$2500.00}. It has a PAYMENT DUE DATE of XXXX and shows a NEW BALANCE of {$8900.00}. One BILLING ERROR being the {$2500.00} minimum payment you state is due for me to pay. The amount is showing a POSITIVE BALANCE, which is very DECEPTIVE and confusing. Please clearly explain HOW a Cash or Debit Card payment from ME, which is a positive amount, can be used as PAYMENT to pay down a POSITIVE BALANCE? Are you implying that A PAYMENT ( ALWAYS A POSITIVE AMOUNT ) will take the POSITIVE BALANCE to XXXX? ... .. ( see attachments ). Another BILLING ERROR 18 USC 8 states that ALL DEBTS, BILLS, CERTIFICATES OF INDEBTEDNESS, DRAFTS FOR MONEY ARE THE OBLIGATION OF THE UNITED STATES. According to this Federal Law, I XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, Natural Man, do not hold or owe ANY debt FOR ANY BILLS so please explain why you are sending me a form each month requesting I make a payment.

Consumer Complaint: I received a XXXX credit card in the mail that I did not apply for on XX/XX/23. I contacted Chase that day and they cancelled the card and said they reported it to the credit bureaus as fraudulent. They advised that the card had a XXXX balance and had not yet been activated. I also got a phone call the same day from the fraud alert team at Chase regarding a checking/savings account. I reached out to that division of their fraud department and they closed a fraudulent account there as well. Had I not received the credit card in the mail, I may not have followed up on the fraud alert phone call, as I thought the phone call might be a scam ( since I had not opened a Chase checking/savings account ).

Consumer Complaint: My grandmother 's inheritance gave me some shares in a company in my origin country. I gave my uncle power of attorney to sell my shares and send the money to my account in the USA at Chase Bank. I went to the bank branch and informed them about the transaction, and they told me that it was fine and I won't have any problems with those funds. So on XXXX, my uncle sold the shares for $ XXXX collected the money, and on XX/XX/2023 sent the money through the money exchange office, which usually is the best way they use to send money, and usually, they send it to new york, and then they send it to the bank account. So I received the money through multiple checks and orders from New York. on the XXXX, Chase Bank put a hold on my money and closed my account. They even put a hold on my paychecks through my work. I contacted them so many times and went to the branch asking why they did do that?! and they just said that we need to verify the checks and that they could not do that ; I gave them the name and phone number of the person who did the exchange from New York, but their system is outdated and could not very him, and they are refusing to give my money. It's been 3 weeks, and still not giving me any reasonable explanation of why they are holding the money while I gave them all the information they asked for, I have all the documents of the sale, and that is all legit. Please, I need help to get my money back from Chase Bank.
