Issue: Getting a credit card

Subissue: Card opened without my consent or knowledge

Consumer Complaint: Longtime mortgage was sold and transferred to Chase Bank two months ago. Have paid my mortgage. This week received an email from Chase thanking me for applying for a credit card. I did NOT apply for a credit card. I called chase, they said I did in fact have an open application. They closed the application. I have run credit report and do not see any other open applications. This is shady. Chase was trying to play a fast one and now I am stuck with them as a customer because our mortgage is now owned by Chase.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/ I reported a fradulent charge against my bank in the amount of $ XXXX on XXXX The name of the merchant was shown as XXXX XXXX. Nobody had access to her card and it has not been out of the house during that time period. I requested and received a phone number for the merchant and spoke to her yesterday afternoon. Consumer Complaint: CFPB Complaint against Chase / XXXX Disputed amount : {$1300.00} Claim # : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX : filed a claim for {$1300.00} against XXXX XXXX. Transaction date : XX/XX/XXXX. Chase places a temporary credit for this amount in my checking account. XX/XX/XXXX : Chase notifies they have stopped researching the claim and removed {$1300.00} from my account, saying it would take place on or after XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX : Received email correspondence from XXXX XXXX ( my apartment company ) that my XX/XX/XXXX payment was returned due to a dispute, instructed me to pay this amount immediately, and that I was being charged a late fee of {$50.00}. Also threatened to sue me for this amount. ( see attached ). Spoke to Chase claims, who said that the amount was on the merchants end, XXXX, and to recover the amount from XXXX. Confused by this statement since XXXX usually directs consumers to deal with the bank, not with XXXX. E-mailed XXXX, and their rep said they could not help because transactions are confidential and to continue working with Chase. Called Chase claims again asking for a supervisor or someone in the presidents office, and was transferred to the claims department. Agent # 2 said that the amount will take XXXX to be returned to the merchant and that I should have a credit with the merchant. Paid the rent amount to XXXX XXXX, including the late fee, and let them know that it was due to a dispute that was filed in error and that it should have been closed. Also informed them to be aware of a double payment for XXXX in the near future. XXXX : Have not heard from either party so proceeding to file a complaint with the CFPB.

Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account

Subissue: Transaction was not authorized

Consumer Complaint: We were married in a wedding venue. There was a lot of confusion because there was a lot of turnover. We did not agree with the final charges and the contract they sent over. We did not sign or agree to the final charges. We made the company aware of this in writing. We contacted the corporate office additionally. They then charged our debit card in the total of XXXX in three separate charges. It seems as if they were trying to see as much money as they could get out. We filled a claim with our bank. They approved one claim then denied another. When we called in they said that the venue was admitting that some of the charges were not authorized because there were major issues and services not rendered. We informed Chase Bank that there was no signed contract or credit card authorization form submitted on our behalf. They used our debit card to charge XXXX without our consent.

On XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX was designated under the Executive Order 14024. Considering this, my payment must be blocked by intermediary bank according to US sanctions regulation. In order to unblock the payment, I need to apply for a specific license to OFAC. However, JP Morgan Chase Bank has not still blocked the payment or has not informed originating bank about freezing measures. Thus, I can not apply to OFAC for a license that is necessary to unblock my funds because to do so, I must fill in some data and specifically the date when the payment was blocked. Otherwise, OFAC may not locate the records of the blocked payment. On XXXX we tried to contact JP Morgan Chase Bank via XXXX from XXXXXXXX XXXX asking them to clarify if the payment was blocked and reported to OFAC and when. Still, JP Morgan Chase Bank has not responded. Thus, I can not apply to OFAC for a license that is necessary to unblock my funds.
