Consumer Complaint: I opened my Chase account at the beginning of the year after switching from XXXX XXXX because they wouldn't allow me to opt out of overdraft protection. In any case, Chase has regularly placed unnecessary holds on check deposits since I opened the account. Sometimes for just a few days, sometimes up to 14 days. In each instance, the checks have been around {$100.00} or less and nobody can explain to me why the hold is being placed. They used to tell me it was because the account was new. Then it was XXXX within this deposit may not be paid because of information we have received from the paying bank or due to information we have within our own files. ' But nobody could explain to me what that meant. The most recent example was from XX/XX/23. I stopped to deposit 2 checks, 1 for {$75.00}, the other for {$95.00}. The {$75.00} went it immediately, the {$95.00} had a 12 day hold placed on it. When I sent a secure message to inquire about why, I was gaslit and told there was no hold even though I received and email saying so and can clearly see the withheld funds on my app. But the worst example of all was when there an error made between my rental company and I. The rental portal would not allow me to process my payment and their system locked me out. Then because rent was late, the eviction process started automatically and the only way to stop it was to pay by certified funds the past due balance plus the next month 's rent. I had to borrow money from a friend who had written me a check for {$1700.00}. I had over {$1800.00} in my account and asked if I could cash the check since I had the funds to cover it. They told me it wasn't an option. Instead, they deposited the check and placed a 9 day hold on it. I told them I would be evicted before it cleared and they gave me a XXXX # to call. From there, I had to engage in a 4 way call between a XXXX representative, my friend, a representative of her bank, and myself. In that phone call, she had to share her account access information, verify she had written me the check, and her representative had to verify the funds were available. After all of that, the check still was held for 8 days, despite it clearing her account the following day. I had to borrow money from another friend, wait for that check to deposit and then pay her back. The whole thing was ridiculous and makes absolutely no sense to me. I have not bounced a check or received a check that was returned unpaid, and even if I had, how would I be at fault being on the receiving end of a bounced check? I searched XXXX and see I am not the only person who gets random holds placed on deposits for no reason through Chase and can't help but wonder how much interest they collect on unnecessary holds like this. As someone living paycheck to paycheck, I can't afford to spend weeks waiting for access to my funds.

Consumer Complaint: On Sunday XX/XX/XXXX my cell phone along other belongings were stolen in XXXX, XXXX. I was not able to have access to a cell phone to report the situation to bank accounts and credit cards up until Thursday XXXX after my arrival back to XXXX XXXX. So, I reported debit cards and credit cards stolen to Chase Bank, but also requested to remove the two step verification linked to the phone number since I would not have access to it until I get a new phone and be able to revise transactions through the Bank 's website portal or at least to provide an alternate verification process. I had to call the bank, I made a mistake while trying to request a log in code access when accessing my debit card PIN number. Called back again, and the bank was closed already. So on top of the frustration of have been stolen everything I have to deal with sensibleness costumer service.

Consumer Complaint: On Friday, XX/XX/XXXX, my husband and I went to a Chase Bank agency with the purpose of opening a business account, but we found ourselves with the limitation of not being able to do it because, being from XXXX with an approved TPS ( Temporal protection status granted by the Department of Homeland Security ) which has currently been renewed until XX/XX/XXXX, we currently find ourselves with an expired passport without being able to renew it given the particular circumstances of XXXX. It seems discriminatory to us not to be able to open an account in this Bank because not having a valid passport can not be used as primary identification ( according to Chase ), however we have a current driver 's license issued by the state of Florida as well as the permit of work ( EAD ) which is valid until XX/XX/XXXXXXXX due to the automatic extension applied to these work permits issued with the approval of the TPS of the year XXXX. he United States government has accepted and recognized the expired passport of XXXX in many immigration processes and we currently do not know of any law or sanction that prevents the opening of bank accounts for having this expired document. In fact, we understand that there should be no discrimination or different treatment for not being citizens or permanent residents of this country in processes like this.

Consumer Complaint: I provided my Chase bank account information to my XXXX XXXX so that the overage amount of my federal student loan could be wired to me to cover my living expenses for the XXXX The loan was processed on XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, I called Chase Bank to request a status inquiry on any pending wire transfers listed under my account. I spoke with a representative who confirmed that he could see the transfer information, and I confirmed the amount and the sender. The same representative assured me that there was no hold on the transfer, and that it would be processed the following morning. The next afternoon, it still had not processed so I called again, and was told it would be handled the same day XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and not to worry. Due to the holiday, I was unable to reach anyone from Chase Bank on XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, I called Chase Bank again to request another status update, and I was informed that the bank had returned the wire transfer because I am not subscribed to one of their premium accounts and therefore Im not entitled to participate in an international wire transfer in any capacity. This information was never clearly communicated to me and the negligence of withholding that information has caused me, and will continue to cause me further financial harm. I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX and they are denying me access to my own student loans to cover my living expenses. The solution I was offered was to visit a chase bank branch and open an account with a higher monthly fee. This is not a viable alternative. My bank account is in the negatives and Chase has denied a payment to me that would allow me to pay my rent. This is unacceptable and I am looking for any solution.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/, my credit was used to purchase almost {$900.00} at three different stores ( XXXX, XXXX, and Macys ) despite the card remaining in my possession. I saw the charges on XX/XX/, and immediately contacted the credit card company to report the charges as fraudulent and they reversed the charges while they investigated. They also canceled my card and sent me a new one. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a notice online after signing into my account to check to make sure that the replacement card they sent me had not also been fraudulently used. This is when I realized they notified me online ( instead of through the mail as requested, and how I receive my statements ) that they deemed I benefited from the fraudulent purchases, and therefore, the charges were legitimate and added back to my credit card bill. Apparently, they had the findings almost a week before I happened to check in! I immediately called them on XX/XX/, and told them that I wanted a detailed copy documenting their findings and supporting their determination because not only have I never been to 2 of the 3 stores the charges were made at, Ive never even used that credit card at that mall. Furthermore, any prudent person can look at my statements for the past XXXX XXXX and see that I dont use the card at retail stores ever! I only really use it at med spas, and very rarely elsewhere. I was told that they were going to reopen my claim and that somebody would contact me. I am still waiting to be contacted and the charges still remain.
