Issue: Opening an account

Subissue: Unable to open an account

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX or XXXX, I received a direct message via XXXX from a supposed painter. They had mentioned that they wanted to use a specific picture I had posted to make a painting. Since I had no problem with it, I had agreed. XXXX, the painters name, had said she was required to send me money because of protocol. I had sent her basic information to contact me to go further. When the client ( who was paying for the painting ), XXXX XXXX, had messaged me, he sent XXXX back to back checks to deposit via email. When I deposited both checks, they were placed on hold. Chase had said the check amount would be available a week after the check was deposited. Messaging the client, he had said that was fine and normal. Later, XX/XX/XXXX, Chase emailed saying I had insufficient funds due to the check removing {$500.00} instead of adding. When I brought this up to XXXX, he had the - {$500.00} removed some how. After this happened with the XXXX check, he had mentioned to deposit another XXXX to get the pairing project started. The same issue kept happening. Therefore I had called Chase to remove the most recent checks on XX/XX/XXXX, because I would not have cell service that weekend and I was frustrated dealing with the same issue despite the clientele changing etc. The representative had mentioned that out of the XXXX checks I deposited the first one would be removed and when the second one goes through, they made a note to remove it. I was not made aware of any fraud or fraudulent activity in my account by Chase, I only received letters stating the checks were removed from my account. On XX/XX/XXXX, I had attempted to make a payment at XXXX XXXX, however, it said not authorized. When I called my bank about my account, they said that my account is closed due to fraud and nothing can be done. I asked if there was anything I can do or resolve, but the representative said I couldnt and I could not open another account at Chase. In search of a new bank account due to this because my job needs to deposit money in my account, I went to XXXX XXXX ; however, the banker said my name/SS is not passing the background check. Chase did not mention any of this to me prior

Issue: Credit monitoring or identity theft protection services

Subissue: Received unwanted marketing or advertising

Consumer Complaint: I received an email from Chase XXXX XXXX telling me, " It looks like you have new activity on one of your accounts You haven't used this account in more than 6 months. Head over to XXXX XXXX to make sure you recognize this activity, and if you don't, see how we can help. '' So I clicked on the link supplied. Then I logged in. It told me that there was a charge on one of my credit cards ( XXXX XXXX ) for {$5.00} on XX/XX/23. It then said that if I don't recognize this that I should contact them immediately. So I logged into my XXXX XXXX account and I didn't have any charge for {$5.00}. I called XXXX XXXX credit card services and spoke to someone. They told me that there was no charge for {$5.00} and that my account had not been inactive for more than 6 months. Then I went back to Chase XXXX XXXX and looked for a phone number to contact them and ask them why they were sending me false reports. " If you have questions, feel free to call us at XXXX ''. So I called the number. It was some scam. It starts off by asking me if me or anyone in my family is age XXXX or over, if so please press XXXX. I didn't press anything. Then what sounded like a person named XXXX or XXXX came on the line telling me congratulations I am qualified for a free ( some sort of medical device ). I attempted to interrupt this " person '' saying no, no I don't want to buy anything, stop, hello, stop. The fake person just continued to finish the sales pitch. Then I hung up and found a new number to contact Chase. I explained to them in great detail everything that transpired. They kept trying to tell me that I need to contact XXXX. I told them that the phone number that I was given to call,XXXX was provided to me on their website, chase.com They kept telling me that I needed to contact XXXX. Then they transferred me to someone else within Chase. I went over all of the detail again. Again, they tried to tell me that I needed to contact XXXX. At this point, I'm not even concerned with why they sent me a false report telling me that there was a {$5.00} charge on an account that had been inactive for 6 months. I'm more concerned about why their website, chase.com is sending people to a scam operation via the XXXX. Again, they told me I needed to contact XXXX. I told them that this was on their website Chase.com and only people within Chase have access to their website and only they are able to put up or take down links, because it's on their website, not XXXX 's website. They then tried to transfer me to someone else at Chase, but they really just put me through to another automated system asking me to enter in my credit card number. This doesn't have anything to do with my Chase Credit Card, it has to do with a XXXX XXXX credit card so my credit card number is irrelevant. I pressed 0 and then 0 again and finally got ahold of someone. I explained this all over again and they told me that I needed to contact XXXX. I told them that it was their website that is sending their customers to a fraudulent phone number for what appears to be a scam. I told them that I would be filing a complaint with the appropriate agencies.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Problem with additional products or services purchased with the loan

Consumer Complaint: I purchased an XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2022. It was a used XXXX XXXX. After such time, the car has depreciated in value, and requesting a refinance on the car has been difficult, due to the high monthly payments. After doing some research, I started studying the contract and the loan process, and found there were inconsistencies and questions regarding the origination of the loan and imperfection of the lien. I sent Chase an offer of set off and discharge, but they refused, which is dishonor. I sent the CFO documents of discharge set off, and below is a copy of the notice of rescission of contract. Pursuant to TILA, 15 USC 1635 and Regulation Z, 12 CFR 226.23, I hereby exercise my right to rescind the car sales contract that is identified by the above referenced account number. The primary basis of the rescission is that, I was not provided a completed copy of the notice of my right to rescind the consumer credit transaction, in violation of 15 USC 163 ( a ) and Regulation Z, and 12 CFR 226.17 and 12 USC 226.23. The attached documents were sent via certified and registered mail to the CFO/Trustee of Chase Bank . They were stamped and notarized.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card

Consumer Complaint: An individual called my daughter on her cell phone from Chase bank claimed that there was fraud on my account and they were wondering if it was her. She said no and they said they would cut off her card and send her a new one in 3-5 business days but needed to set up a new pin number. Considering the number was from the local branch she was asked to verify her old pin so they could giver her a new pin number. Chase then allowed an individual to add my ATM card to a Mobile Wallet ( XXXX XXXX ) without any verification and use it to access a Chase bank ATM and perform 47 ATM withdrawals over the course of two days to withdraw money from my account exceeding the normal daily limit of ATM withdrawals. At no point in time was my physical card not it my possession or known to be compromised. When the charges were noticed and a fraud claim was made they denied the claim for reimbursement of {$2800.00} saying that i had authorized the withdrawals. A police report was filed and Chase bank would not send the video surveillance without a search warrant to assist in identification of the individual but would only send still shots from the ATM which were very little help due to chase allowing the individual to enter the bank and access the atm located inside the branch with a hat and covid mask and proceed to make atm withdrawals for a period of 20 minutes without being questioned. Chase bank is not helpful at all at identifying the individual or assisting to get the money back because they just denied the claim so have no financial incentive in assisting address this problem or view of liability
