Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I was a XXXX customer for about five ( 5 ) years and I always have device protection insurance. In 2018, I upgraded two ( 2 ) devices on my account through promotion. A couple weeks after the upgrade, I accidentally dropped my phone. I went back to XXXX the retail store to get my phone screen replace only to find out that my deductible has increased from {$100.00} to {$150.00}. I asked the agent why I was not informed about that increase and his answer was that the person who served me was novice. I wanted to pay off the damage phone and return the other phone so I can close my account. Also to find out that through that promotion I just signed a new two ( 2 ) agreement with them. Again, I waas not informed. I don't think as an existing customer, with five ( 5 ) device on my account, my agreement should change when I upgrade two ( 2 ) phone. At least, someboby in the store should have told me. I was not happy with the way they were handling the situation so left all the devices on the counter with them. I got couple bills from XXXX and called the customer service and explained everything to them. I was told that they will look into the situation to call me back but never did. Only time I got called is to take of the bill. Now, many years later I am being reported to a collection bureau.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX moved from XXXX fl due to divorce. I. systems listed it on my credit report when all bills to be paid by ex. I called them, XXXX had no record, IC had no validation and I disputed. They sold the debt so now instead of falling off on XXXX, they sold it again and date opened shows XXXX. I have called multiple times for proof of debt, charges etc and they have said they assumed debt and have nothing on file. They have shut me down at every turn. They are acting against Fair Debt Collection, purposefully fighting the wrong party and trying to harass me by dragging out date account opened ( XXXX only date I first noticed, now XXXX ). I want it removed. My credit is perfect except for them. Please help me. Im at wits end.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX originally sold an account that was opened in my name by someone who stole my identity to XXXX XXXX XXXX reported a delinquent account on my credit report for {$70.00}. Now they sold this fraudulent account to IC System Inc. and claim that I now owe {$770.00}. I told them that this was identity theft. They said that it's for a debt from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, Nebraska. I told them that I have never lived there or visited there in my life. I called XXXX XXXX myself and they said that they only do online disputes with a police report. That since they merged with XXXX XXXX XXXX, they can't file a complaint over the phone and that they only have limited access. I filed a police report with the XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX and already sent it to XXXX XXXX. IC System says that there's nothing that they can do. The collection company refuses to delete this account from their files. The collection company should be able to verify and dispute the account themselves, since they are the ones who now are trying to collect this debt. I am in the process of applying for a home loan and this has derailed everything. This is a living nightmare. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX should be held accountable for not fully verifying the identity of the person when this account was opened. I'm sure that I'm not the only victim. I have also filed a dispute with XXXX XXXX and the case # is XXXX. It is impossible to contact XXXX XXXX by phone.

Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: Long-standing issue with original creditor ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX regarding a " delinquent '' account after repeated and frequent open communications. -- Waiting an extended amount of time from XX/XX/XXXX until XX/XX/XXXX for the leased equipment to be investigated and successfully found, led to the account being put into delinquent status despite promises that it wouldn't because " there is an escalation ticket open in the system '' after I explicitly stated " I don't want the account to be sent to collections because we are waiting for your internal processing '', and the original creditors billing system sent the " debt '' to the collection agency " I C Systems ''. -- XXXXXXXX XXXX agent was " surprised '' that the system did this, and informed me that my debt was " in limbo '' and nothing could be done, including making a payment, until the collection agency updated their records. -- Months passed and finally records updated and was shown on my credit reports through XXXX -- On XX/XX/XXXX I made contact with the original creditor after no changes to my credit reports regarding debt owed to " I C Systems ''. I paid an additional amount of {$120.00} for the " remaining account balance owed '' directly to the original creditor and was told " the account balance is {$0.00}, paid in full, and " I C Systems '' would be notified of revocation of their ownership of the debt, and the derogatory marks to be removed from my credit reports ''. Payment Confirmation number was provided and documented. -- After disputing the debt with " I C Systems '' directly through XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX with the original creditor payment confirmation and detailed notes, the updated total balance owed to " I C Systems '' is now showing {$130.00} -- After speaking again with the original creditor again today on XX/XX/XXXX, with both the customer service & collection departments , they are now stating that there's a balance of {$130.00} due to unreturned equipment. I was advised that because the account is closed that they are unable to view account notations or the original prepaid shipping label for internal tracking, but would've been able to if the account was open/active. I've even included a photo showing the device and accessories returned in the prepaid box prior to affixing their prepaid shipping label. -- I have escalated the manner internally with XXXX and they're performing an " investigation & inventory count '' once again, and was provided a ticket number. -- I was responsible and never late with any payments during my tenure as a customer, although the system reflects I was late in the end after the creditors promises were broken. I've asked for documentation besides confirmation numbers but have been declined repeatedly. -- I can't logically understand XXXX XXXX systematic procedures or protocols, especially with frequent open communications, regarding equipment returns and tracking. They have data to aid in the internal search of the equipment, but no access to it. The resulted " finger pointing '' and back & forth status changes are unnerving. -- I'm exhausted in waiting and trying to resolve the manner while my credibility is damaged simultaneously affecting my opportunities and finances. -- I don't think I should be liable and " cave-in '' for yet another additional payment due to their problematic procedures, broken promises, and poor equipment logistics when I've already lost time, credibility and been in continued distress. -- I'm just a student trying to better myself and doing what's proper and fair, but I'm left feeling completely manipulated.

Consumer Complaint: IC Systems contacted me about a bill and I requested an itemized statement but was told no, they said they were sending a fraud packet, and it was never received, thereafter IC Systems added the bill to my credit report, despite knowing there was a dispute and they have no billing statements or other information, except to say my last name is " XXXX '' and then today when I contacted them, it is suddenly XXXX, but still no itemized statement or other information. I asked for the phone number of the XXXX where they received the collection and the woman stated, we don't contact our clients and we don't have a phone number. Consumer Complaint: I contacted the debt collector on XXXX to request a verification of debt letter by a supervisor ID # XXXX XXXX. I was told she was not able to send one as IC Systems did not own the debt they were trying to collect on. I was told they could only send me a balance statement in regards to the debt. I made clear that I have not received any correspondents via USPS and was only mad aware of the debt when I ran a credit report. I made multiple request for a letter to verify the debt and was told it would not be sent.
