Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I received an alert yesterday that a new collection has been posted on my account. I looked into it and it is for {$150.00} and it is from XXXX XXXX. I reached out to the collection company IC systems, and they basically told me that I have to get in touch with XXXX and XXXX will correct the collection. I havent had any luck getting a hold of XXXX and getting to the right representative. All of my credit bureaus are frozen so Im hoping this fraud happened before my accounts were frozen. I have already filed the dispute on my XXXX XXXX account since that is the only credit bureau that the collection is on right now.

Consumer Complaint: Dear Sir/Madam, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to kindly request your assistance in removing some information from my account. According to the law, medical bills under {$500.00} are supposed to be removed and it is a violation of my rights under 15 US code 1681 and 15 US code 1681b to have this information present. Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could suppress any negative information and update the report accordingly. I understand that it is illegal to place a charge off on a report and send a 1099-C to the debtor. Furthermore, I have noticed that the reporting across the bureaus is not accurate, and I kindly request that the information be removed immediately. I have attached the relevant report for your reference. Finally, I would like to raise a concern regarding the difficulty in accessing my online account. I believe it is unfair to have to pay to see my own data, and I would appreciate if the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau could investigate this matter. I would greatly appreciate it if you could attend to this matter as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and assistance. Best regards, XXXX XXXX XXXX I.C. Consumer Complaint: I disconnected my XXXX internet service on XX/XX/XXXX. I have email confirmation of my cancellation of service on XX/XX/XXXX. I have disputed the debt with both XXXX and the collection agencies and requested written evidence to validate the debt. The latest collections agency I C SYSTEM INC has now tried to validate the debt by providing a copy of an old bill dating service of XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX. A copy of an old bill does not qualify as adequate proof of a debt owed. My account with spectrum has been paid in full and is settled.
