Consumer Complaint: A debt collection agency contacted me regarding a back internet bill from a previous tenant that was not me. The equipment was left in the unit. So I took it to ups and dropped it off for them after they contacted me. I didnt need to do this. But I went out of my way to do so. This collection agency has continued to contact me saying I owe money but I dont, they also say they have no record of the equipment being returned. The ironic thing is. I have a current internet service with the same company that apparently claimed the debt. So none of this makes sense. Its not my debt. Ive told them XXXX times its not, and they still continue to call me daily. They also just put a negative remark on my credit report. For {$59.00}. This is insanity.

Consumer Complaint: I was a XXXX XXXX customer with autopay ( XXXX on time payments ) since at least XX/XX/XXXX. I left XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. They charged my credit card the full amount of service one month later, even though they always billed in advance. They also did this the prior month when I took a family member off my family plan. There was also no prorating of charges. When I called XXXX to ask for an invoice to see what i was paying for ( 3 calls : in XXXX, XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX ) they did not explain it well to me ( they used extremely complicated " in house '' jargon ), and refused to mail me an invoice, saying that I had paperless pay so they could not mail me anything. However, I no longer had access to my verizon account online. I was fed up, so I disputed the {$51.00} charge with XXXX, my credit card company, on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, instead of responding appropriately to XXXX, XXXX reported me delinquent to XXXX and sent the {$51.00} to collections with IC Systems. They later reported me to XXXX, as well. I disputed the debt with XXXX but it appears they " sided '' with XXXX. ( I had to call them a second time because the dispute resolution forms they mailed me made no sense ). I tried calling XXXX 8+ times over the month of XXXX. I was hung up on repeatedly ( I was not being irate, or raising my voice ) and had reps tell me " I can't hear you '' when I had full service and have never dropped a call from my home, almost as if that were a strategy that XXXX taught their reps, and multiple customer service reps gave conflicting information or made promises that were not fulfilled. For example, on XX/XX/XXXX, a XXXX customer service rep kindly told me he would remove the charge from my account and that everything would be resolved in 48 hours. On a subsequent call a few days later, I learned he had no capacity to do that because the " debt '' was already in collections. I paid the amount today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) through IC systems debt collectors because I essentially had no recourse, I was bullied into paying it. There is no justification for a company to : - Not provide an invoice - Not respond to a credit card dispute, which is what made the bill turn negative anyway - Not give me any advance warning that a bill was going to collections For this piddly amount to negatively affect my credit score for the next 7 years on my credit reports -- - after about 140 on time payments -- seems unjust. To make matters worse, I am currently house and / or apartment hunting and am afraid that, despite today 's payment, I will be denied housing or charged more for a mortgage.
