Consumer Complaint: I got behind on payments to credit card companies which I called and notified and asked for hardship help... I had been paying on time for years and even the credit card companies agreed that I had done whatever I had to do to make My payments every month on time until one day that just suddenly stopped. I had been in a bad carwreck and that same night My Fiance ' suffered a XXXX and had some sort of XXXX in His XXXX and XXXX. I notified the companies, some of which I was protected by in case of which something like this happened, and granted help. Discover was one of the companies that closed My account and I believe charged it off, and just this week I noticed My paycheck was short and checked My paystub online and saw where My paycheck was being garnished without Me knowing or being aware in any way and didn't even know by who until contacting My employer. It was being garnished by a company that took over My account from Discover. I am low income, XXXX, and receive SSD and do not even know if They are garnishing those payments from SSD. Consumer Complaint: Dear Consumer Financial Bureau, I am writing to you to express my frustration and disappointment with Discover Bank 's handling of my previous complaint number XXXX. In that complaint, I reported that a credit card was fraudulently opened in my name, XXXX XXXX, and was not received by me, but instead by a person named XXXX who lived in my apartment building. Despite Discover Bank acknowledging that this credit card was not opened by me, they are refusing to remove it from my credit report unless it is paid by me, even though it was not mine in the first place. I find this to be a blatant injustice and an unfair practice. I have provided all necessary legal documents and evidence to prove that this credit card was not mine, yet Discover Bank is still refusing to take any action to correct this mistake. This has caused me great distress and has had a significant impact on my credit score. I am asking the Consumer Financial Bureau to intervene and take action on this matter. I believe that Discover Bank is engaging in unfair and deceptive practices by holding me responsible for a credit card that was opened fraudulently and not by me. I request that the CFB investigates this matter thoroughly and takes appropriate action to ensure that Discover Bank corrects this mistake and removes this credit card from my credit report. Consumer Complaint: Ive had my credit card through discover for nearly 7 years all of a sudden my account has been frozen and is on hold for some odd reason the hold can not be lifted. Call customer service as to why my account is on hold can not get a straight answer. Ive spoken to 3 reps already seem to not be able to have success with anyone from discover Im contacting you for some type of assistance to resolve this please thanks. The card is completely paid off and ready for us but unable to use.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I received an email from Discover Card that my account was being closed due to not being able to verify personal information. This is the first email Ive see from discover regarding this. I immediately contacted Discover Card and requested additional information. I was transferred 3 different times. A Discover Card employee informed me there was nothing I could do since I didnt verify my personal information that was due on XX/XX/2023. I requested a call back from a supervisor due to there not being one on shift. I have not received a phone call to this date from a supervisor. The employee also informed me that I would have to have to reapply to be approved for another Discover Card. After looking for emails in my junk/spam folder regarding my account and need to verify my personal information, I received an email on XX/XX/2023 from Discover Card to verify personal information for the IRS to continue to use my account. It is rare to check my junk/spam mail. Discover Card also never sent me a letter in the mail regarding this matter.

Consumer Complaint: I fill an application to a secured credit card with Discover 7 months ago. I pay directly from my account {$1000.00} to them. I waited 3 months and in the meantime i call 6 times because i didnt received the card and they keep saying to me they going to send it again but i i never received the card and we recheck the addresses and was correct. So then i decide to close the account and ask for my money back on XXXX and they tell me it has to be in check and by mail. I explain to them that for some reason i dont understand i didnt receive mail from them and thats the reason i closing it so obviously if them send the check to the same address by the same mail i dont going to receive the check. They told me that was the process and they cant do different. So i waited and again the same problem, i didnt receive my money so the tell me i have to wait 30 days for a reason from the mail that explain why i didnt received the check, and they cant send it to another address and cant deposit to my account. Every month since i call them and they answer the same thing. I dont know what to do i waited 4 months and nothing happens and also they send the report to my credit, they affect my credit for a card they dont send me and now i have worst credit, no card and no money.

Consumer Complaint: I did not enter into an informed agreement. I first made a decision prior to receiving an agreement. There was NOT two consenting parties in this agreement. I was UNINFORMED on basic facts such as I needed two consenting parties to make the agreement, I needed an understanding of what was in the agreement as it was NOT conspicuous nor clear of what I agreed too especially since I did not receive the agreements until after the 30 day period, I was supposed to be able to make an inform decision. I did not know the cost to me of what may come from this credit. I did not know the subject of the agreement when I made a decision. It is a person of whom the debt is arising from the consumer credit transaction is initially payable on the face of the evidence of indebtedness OR if there is no such evidence of indebtedness by agreement. Meaning on the face of that uninformed decision there needed to be evidence I owed them prior to receiving the card so they created an agreement I was unaware of and would not receive without informing me in order to create false debt. Because of the uninformed decision the contract and agreement was null and void at the beginning. 15 USC 1643 ADEQUATE NOTICE. Basically says that Discover should have made sure I 100 % understood the terms and agreement as well as received the information prior to signing up for it. Not only did I not actually sign anything by hand but by clicking a button that Discover themselves used a electronic signature they themselves created for me in place of my own signature, by I was unable to receive any information prior.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 I was contacted by an individual identifying himself as a representative of Discover Bank Fraud Department. My caller ID showed Discover bank and the individual sent me the expected text message to verify my identity by reading back the number code in the text. They proceeded to have me verify as either authorized or unauthorized, charges on my debit card, due to suspicious transactions. Some of the charges were actual purchases I transacted. Over the course of this call I was tricked into providing them credentials, driver license image, which they in turn used to conduct an unauthorized wire transfer from my savings account, XXXX, in the amount of {$110000.00}. I became suspicious and terminated the call and phoned Discover Bank directly. I was apparently just minutes late in alerting them to the unauthorized transaction. The wire had been sent and the wire recall request, as I later learned, was unsuccessful. I contacted the XXXX XXXX, FL Sheriffs Office, Economic Crimes Task Force. They requested that I urgently contact Discover Bank and report back with the wire transfer details : destination bank, account number, Swift number, etc., as they said there would be a short window of opportunity to recover the funds. Discover Bank refused to release the information to me, stating that it was under investigation by the bank. They did however provide me with a direct number for law enforcement use and to provide that to the Sheriffs Office. They assured me they would cooperate with law enforcement without requiring a subpoena. The county Sheriff agent contacted me later to inform me that the call was unanswered and that he received no return call from the voicemail he provided them. I contacted Discover Bank several days later to inquire about the progress of their investigation. I was verbally informed that their investigation was closed. They stated that the receiving bank refused to return the funds, and there would be no restoration to my savings account. This was in despite of being assured during three different conversations I had with the bank on the day of the incident and the following day, that I could expect the funds to be restored. As of this date, XX/XX/2023 I have not received a formal notification of the results of their investigation.
