Consumer Complaint: Credit Acceptance had a dealership sell me a car with hidden interest costs and surreptitiously include expensive add-on products with my vehicle without my knowledge and proper disclosure.New York has a convoluted body of usury law that deems certain loans usurious and invalidates them This criminal conduct has caused extraordinary damages to my health, my personal life, and my credit score. The Attorney General has been sent a copy of this communication as the Attorney General 's Office must help with these ongoing illegal practices. there is also a current lawsuit on CAC that furthermore explain their illegal tactics. The lawsuit seeks to force Credit Acceptance to stop its illegal practices, REIMBURSE harmed consumers, PAY BACK wrongfully earned gains, and pay a penalty. CAC claimed to help low-income New Yorkers purchase cars but instead drove consumers straight into debt by tricking them into unaffordable high-interest auto loans while cutting backroom deals with dealers to increase their own profits. XXXX XXXXXXXX put down on a vehicule while observing my " retail installment contract '' that I also did not sign because the dealership had their agent e-sign it without my consent I also noticed the " ITEMIZATION OF AMOUNT FINANCED '' was also not add ding up ( B ) {$2900.00} went throws a extended warranty that I did not purchase nor ask for ( D ) {$240.00} for registration ( F ) {$75.00} DOC fee ( G ) {$37.00} emission test fee Which totals out to {$3300.00}. where did the rest of the money go to {$3600.00}? also the car has been total for almost 3 years now credit acceptance told me they had no interest in gettin the car back progressive also cancelled my insurance because the dealership sold me fraudulent insurance so I could drive off the lot with the car resulting in me being in a deep hole 15 U.S. Code 1635 ( b ) - Right of rescission as to certain transactions 15 U.S. Code 1601 ( a ) ( b ) - Congressional findings and declaration or purpose lawsuit below https : //www.consumerfinance.gov/about-us/newsroom/cfpb-and-new-york-attorney-general-sue-credit-acceptance-for-hiding-auto-loan-costs-setting-borrowers-up-to-fail/

Consumer Complaint: Last XX/XX/XXXX, I acquired a car through the financial company. The amount that was agreed to pay was {$17000.00} plus the XXXX that were given in the firm a total of XXXX 1 car of XXXX excessive but we accepted After two years and seeing the need not being able to pay the car a year and a half we decided to return the company, he offered the possibility of giving it to him to sell it at auction and thus be able to reduce the debt To call to let us know how the situation is. The surprise is that they tell us that that {$20000.00} car was sold for XXXX, we understand that it is a scam and also that the debt we have with them amounts to {$25000.00} as it can be after paying {$7500.00} of the XXXX and the car and even seeing the double they tell us that the problem is that the interest is more than 25 % which they never explained to us We understand that We can pay our report. It's damaged. They don't want to sell us more cars at any dealership and the only solution they give us is to make a five-year payment plan and continue paying interest. Honestly, a scam and abusive

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX XXXX, I paid the agreed upon settlement amount in full for Credit Acceptance Account # XXXX. Per the settlement arrangement, Credit Acceptance agreed to update my credit report and send us the lien release ( for title ). On numerous occasions ( via phone and in the Credit Acceptance online portal ), Credit Acceptance confirmed ( and showed ) the " XXXX balance '' as per the paid settlement agreement. Despite payment in full, on XX/XX/ and for the next three months, Credit Acceptance continues to show a balance as {$13000.00}. My wife and I called and asked Credit Acceptance to properly report the balance on all XXXX credit bureaus. They refused. I was told that even though they see the XXXX balance, it's not their obligation to report that to the credit bureaus unless we file a complaint with Credit Acceptance in writing which could take 30 days. When I stated this is a Fair Credit Reporting Act violation, they said it's not because they only update balances when consumers file a written complaint. Even if this was their internal process for " closed accounts, '' what makes this an intentional violation is that Credit Acceptance reported the wrong balance and status on XX/XX/ on my " closed account '' despite their internal system showing a XXXX balance. To date, Credit Acceptance refuses to properly report my balance and update the status of this account on any of the credit bureaus. They have ignored my requests to report this accurately. It is causing an extreme financial hardship on me and my family. I am the primarily bread winner in my family and my credit has dropped almost XXXX points as a result.
