Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: On more than one occasion my payment cleared my bank and was not credited toward my loan. This caused payments to fall behind. I would catch up and then another payment would not be applied. I have provided the company with the bank statements showing the payment clearing in hopes they would correct the account-to date they have yet to do so. I make bimonthly payments every month to complete a full payment and the account continues to show past due with an unbelievable about of late fees and interest due. I would not be past due if the missing payments had been applied. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to pay the additional fees and payments again but have and will continue to make my $ XXXX monthly payment ( payment is {$570.00} XXXX. I contacted the company lasts month to discuss the possibility of adjusting the due date to bring me current in hopes of saving money in fees, I was told that since they were a second change lender that would not be an option.

Consumer Complaint: I filed an identity theft report, with the Federal Trade Commission, against Credit Acceptance for a loan for a vehicle that I do not own. I mailed the letter from FTC disputing the account on XX/XX/2019. The company calls me every day at least 3 times per day, I answer and they hang up without saying anything. They also mailed me a letter dated XX/XX/2019 stating the vehicle would be sold on XX/XX/2019 and to call them to learn the exact amount owed on the account to get the property back.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Problem with additional products or services purchased with the loan

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted my auto loan creditor, Credit Acceptance, in order to have them send the necessary paperwork to the XXXX DMV for new vehicle tags as I had recently moved from XXXX where I had originally financed the vehicle. On XX/XX/XXXX I attempted to register for new plates, after verifying the documents from Credit Acceptance had been sent to the DMV. The staff at the XXXX DMV notified me that the required documents were in fact, not sent to them. But instead, the Title Department apparently decided a non official document was equivalent - an assertation they maintained throughout all my communications with them until the end of XX/XX/XXXX. I was issued a temporary tag from the XXXX DMV which expired on XX/XX/XXXX. Pre-empting the pending expiration of my temporary tag, I contacted Credit Acceptance yet again. The Title department insisted they had sent the correct document, and hesitantly I decided to attempt the XXXX DMV yet again. The manager on duty at the XXXX DMV showed me the unofficial document which they would not honor, and said there was nothing that would be done until the proper document was received. So on XX/XX/XXXX I contacted Credit Acceptance yet again and received the same excuse " we were never sent the proper document from XXXX, this declaration should work. '' This was now the second time I had requested they obtain the proper document, but this was never acknowledged, nor was it acted upon by Credit Acceptance. On XX/XX/XXXX I applied for another temporary tag, and was issued it due to extenuating circumstances. On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted the Titles Department at Credit Acceptance and demanded that they obtain a new copy of the Notice of Security Interest Filing. I was told that the request was noted in my file and would be handled by the person assigned to it. On XX/XX/XXXX I paid for a copy of my part of the XXXX title ( hoping this also sent a new copy of the Lien Holder 's part to my creditor ). I received my copy within the week, and also inquired with the State of XXXX Department of Motor Vehicles if my transaction also sent new documents to my creditor. They answered within the same day that it did not. On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted Credit Acceptance yet again, to verify their progress as I had received no communication from them. I discovered that nothing from my previous request had been recorded or acted upon. I had at this point now been paying for a car I was unable to use for over a month. It was at this time that I informed them I would not make another payment until they fulfilled their legal obligation in this matter, and provided the level of service which credit contract implied. I was assured that, the proper steps would be taken. I requested communication at the time of their receipt for the new Notice of Security Interest Filing from the State of XXXX, as well as a tracking number when they shipped the document to the XXXX DMV. On XX/XX/XXXX I called Credit Acceptance yet when asked the status of the Security fillings document, they still did not have it - although they now claimed that they were waiting for it from XXXX. I am now on my second month of paying for a car that I can not use due to either the apathy or ineptitude of the lien holder for my vehicle. In addition to having my access blocked to the property for which I have been paying. I have also been sporadically fined for failure to show current tags on my vehicle by the XXXX Department of Public works. I have now amassed over {$600.00} in fines. Spent over {$100.00} for temporary tags and title copies. I have lost over a dozen hours of work while waiting at the DMV to try to solve an issue that I am currently powerless over.

Consumer Complaint: I took a car loan out for {$15000.00} on a XXXX XXXX XXXX through credit acceptance in XXXX. I set up automatic payments for my payment to be taken out of my bank account. How can a company say you owe them almost the balance of when the loan originated when I haven't received anything saying I'm late or in jeporady of defaulting. Please help this is not right. Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I have been a Credit Acceptance Corporation customer since XXXX and have been making my payments since XX/XX/XXXX on time, even earlier than due date. I sent the corporation a certified goodwill letter asking if they could remove the negative report from my credit file ( repossession ) as though I still have possession of the vehicle and I've been paying every payment on time. I'm seeing that they removed the remarks but it was recently added back on my credit. They are also reporting that they took possession of the car and that the account is now closed, and that balance has increased to the credit bureaus all of this is incorrect. They are reporting negative incorrect information to the credit bureaus. My account is not closed and I have not missed any payments. This is such an inconvenience to me and its a shame that they do this to loyal customers. I've been trying to get a hold of someone but I've been unable to speak to a representative. They have not called or sent any letters to me or communicated in anyway. Please investigate to look into this matter thank you.
