Consumer Complaint: I got a car loan through credit acceptance in XXXX of XXXX. My payment has never been late. I made sure to make my payments on time every month. I struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic to pay my bills but still managed to make sure my car note was paid on time. It all became too much in XXXX of XXXX and I just could not make ends meet. I called credit acceptance and explained to them that I would be unable to make my XXXX payment. Trying to be proactive and looking for some sort of resolution, I explained to them that my financial situation was strained because of the global pandemic, that I was no longer employed and struggling to pay my bills and maintain a household as a single mother of XXXX. I did exactly what it is posted on their website to do, which is give them a call as soon as possible if there is an issue making a payment. I asked for some sort of grace with the company because of the state that we were in in the world and because of my outstanding payment history to that point. I was told that there was nothing that they could do to help me other than note my account of the conversation. They reported my account as late with the credit bureaus, which has negatively affected my credit score and payment history. This has caused a tremendous amount of stress, pain and grief to an already traumatic situation. I find it absolutely devastating and appalling that company 's can be this heartless and ruthless to the consumers that keep them in business, especially at a time like this. There should be some sort of relief or program offered to help customers. My payments were on time before and have been made on time since. Credit acceptance is taking advantage of their consumers and are only in business to help themselves, not the customers! They should not be able to hurt or affect peoples ' lives this way, especially now, during a pandemic! Something needs to be done!

Consumer Complaint: I had a brand new car in XXXX and in XXXX it got totaled? I was working at the time and I lived in Minneapolis and my job was in XXXX so I would get rides and I would walk to and from work most days? I was walking like XXXX miles to and from work and I have had XXXX XXXX surgeries and a XXXX XXXX and I did pay for it most days? But I had to do what I had to do because I have XXXX kids, rent, and bills? So I went and purchased a car on XX/XX/XXXX a XXXX XXXX XXXX that was {$14000.00} and my interest was {$15000.00} on top of {$14000.00} so the car came to {$26000.00}? Isnt that usurious? I was trading it in last year but the pandemic was a real pandemic for me cause I lost my job on the same do they shut the country down? XX/XX/XXXX. I didnt have money to put down so I went through this company where they sent me a letter for a car program because I didnt have a down payment or good credit so I had to take anything? The finance company is Credit Acceptance and the first car dealer ship that I had ever went to got sued for pushing through car loans knowingly the customer couldnt afford the payment? I want to trade my car in tomorrow to get myself out of this and I want to be able to be done paying them and not owing Credit Acceptance a dime a being able to purchase my truck tomorrow? Please please please help me?

The statements made by this company has messed up my reputation also caused me many years of abuse for not being able to finance a next car due to the words that were stated by leaving me with mental instability

After we sent a request to XXXX the balance, they state I owe {$9200.00} when the high balance was {$5300.00}. Also, they sold the car in an auction thus collecting income and still saying I owe {$9200.00}. I feel they have improperly charged me, not reporting the accurate amount in hopes of me paying more than I owe which violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and possibly the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Consumer Complaint: I asked to have the car returned because it could not be registered in California. And Credit Acceptance Corporation agreed to have the car returned. However when I called them to find out why they hadn't picked up the car as promised I was told that it wasn't worth picking up and to pay for the loan. Second the statue of limitations has long since passed and on yesterday I received a demand letter with threats to put once again report me to the credit company. Several years ago filed a grievance with the FCC and they were contacted but still hasn't responded and it was surrendered and I don't own the car. It was left at XXXX XXXX XXXX and never did pick up the car.

Consumer Complaint: At the beginning of the pandemic, I had lost my job. I did fall behind in the payments, but was keeping in contact with the company. On a Friday I spoke with Credit Acceptance and let them know that I had sent a money order to them in the amount of {$1000.00}. to get almost all the way caught up especially with them threatening to repossess my car. I was told that my name would be removed off of the repossess list that was for the upcoming Tuesday, due to Monday being a holiday. The morning of that following Tuesday, I had court at the courthouse in XXXX, MO. The sheriff comes into the courtroom to get me, saying that my car had just been repossessed and in a very illegal way. They have the tow truck company on video right after I walked into the courthouse back up to my car very quickly, hop out, connected up my car, and sped away. First issue is I had sent them payment, and was told I would not be repossessed, second ; local law enforcement was never notified of any repossessions being done until 3 hours after they repossessed it ; third, no contact was ever made with me to inform me of it being repossessed ; fourth, my vehicle was front wheel drive and the tow truck driver dragged my car front tires down for XXXX miles, the car was totaled because of it. In my vehicle was my medication that I need to keep from getting ill everyday, I can not miss a dose. I called Credit Acceptance who claimed they had knowledge of my car getting repossessed but gave me the number to the company they used for repossessions. The tow truck company then argued with me about getting my medication out of my car and continued to lie and make up excuses as to why I wouldn't be able to get my medication. Finally after 6 hours, my making a police report, and getting very ill with out my medication, I was able to meet the tow truck driver to get my belongings. My car was at the mans house in his back yard, that was in no way a business. I was told by XXXX County Police and XXXX County Sherriff that I needed to take pictures of any damages that were made to the vehicle. I took pictures of the front underneath being torn up, the front bumper being almost pulled under the vehicle, my tires that were almost worn through, that were brand new tires, and the guard underneath that was ripped off. Then I took pictures of where my car had been parked and you could see the drag marks from when he pulled away. The tow truck driver tried to claim he had pulled it out, but unhooked and re-hooked to the front, but the XXXX County Sherriff confirmed he did not. After that Credit Acceptance was unable to find my vehicle and thought that I had got it back and was demanding me to pay them. They said once they were able to speak with the tow company about where my car was located they would make contact with me to settle since my car was now totaled after they received a {$1000.00} payment from me. I have not heard from them at all since. I have disputed the report on my credit because of their fault my vehicle was totaled after I had made a payment and they were not able to ever find my car once the tow company took it in to possession.
