Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Denied request to lower payments
Consumer Complaint: I got my vehicle loan through credit acceptance in XXXX of 2019 before Covid hit. When everything shut down I immediately called Credit Acceptance and spoke with a representative who assured me that my car wouldn't be repossessed and I was directed to call them when I was financially stable enough to resume payments. I was never given anything in writing that my vehicle was being repossessed, and I never received any correspondence from them stating that my loan was in default. They sent a recovery company to pick up my vehicle in the dark of the night and no paperwork was left explaining what had occurred. I thought my vehicle had been stolen. They waited over a year to report anything on my credit report then all of the sudden I get a notice that my credit score dropped over 100 points and that my car was being sold unless I was able to pay the past die of {$10000.00}. The crooked sneaky way they went about it has absolutely ruined my credit due to absolutely no fault of my own. It's not fair and should be removed from my credit report. Credit acceptance is a very bad bad company to deal with and I wish I had never gotten duped into financing through them

Consumer Complaint: I purchase a use XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX, 4 months later the car was in a accident. I had insurance but it it issue a little late but was active and when the insurance company found out about the auto accident they didn't honor my payment, So i contacted my lender and told them my situation. I did have gap insurance. The lender sent their insurance appraiser to appraise the damage. The car was total with all air bags deploy and unrepairable damage. But their appraiser came back and said we miss the coverage of the gap coverage by {$100.00} dollar and they wont cover cause the damages was more then the car value by XXXX dollars.. So i stop making payments on a car that i could not drive. i ask them to pick the car up then to sell it and i owe the balance. They stated that they didn't want the car. So after the first few month of non payment they stop reporting it on my credit report .. Fast forward 3 & 1/2 yr later they stared reporting miss payments and adding charges.. I do not understand why this car was not charge off. I'm thinking they got paid for the car already with there gap insurance and still trying to collect them selves. this account is 5 & 1/2 years old and they still reporting late payments on my credit report and i never receive statements balance or nothing, how can they do this?

Consumer Complaint: Ok was never notified or recieved a letter or phone call from credit acceptance that during the covid 19 pandemic that car payments or going to be on hold for one year in starting on XX/XX/XXXX, until XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I notified credit acceptance in efforts to make payments on my car even when I was unemployed with no unemployment benefits at that time. I still have not received my back benefits from unemployment to catch up on all my bills such as rent, gas and electric from the extensions that was given to me by those companies. When Credit Acceptance sent me a letter it was in XXXX after the pandemic relief extension was already over. During that time that Credit Acceptance said they were not going to hold me accountable for late payments and I didn't have to make payments from XXXX until XXXX I was still making payments because I was unaware I didn't have to make payments during that time. Today they repossessed my vehicle and said I had a late payments after I made a payment for {$290.00} in XXXX And now on XX/XX/XXXX they pick up my car without letting me know credit acceptance took off the pandemic relief program so at this point I am confused and baffled because this don't add up and iam still waiting for unemployment to release my money and credit acceptance know that I been waiting on unemployment to release my money since last XXXX XXXX.ok back to credit acceptance I requested a payment history of all my payments from credit acceptance they only gave me a payment history starting XX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX and while I was looking at the history I noticed that the months of XX/XX/XXXX, which was paid, and XX/XX/XXXX and that's alarming and the never took off the XXXX dollar payment I paid off in XX/XX/XXXX, I called credit acceptance and requested a payment statement saying I paid off the XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX, I was told by credit acceptance that All the offices are closed due to the pandemic I kept requesting that payoff notice never got the notice and the fee I paid off was never removed and it's still on the account, at this point I feel as though I been ripped off and swindled because when I bought the car the dealer ship made the car run enough so I'm can buy it and then a week later all soughts of problems went wrong with the car, one important part to the car that was never replaced because that car part was a recall and they knew that before I bought the car but I didn't know iam not a car expert, so during this whole time I been busting my chops every way the right way to try to keep this car and fix it but at this point due to my discovery threw out the last 18 months this car was a lemon when I bought it and I say that to say this the dealer ship I bought it from never wanted to fix it when I called back a week later with problems, first off the car dealership had to rebuild me a clusters for the dash board because I didn't know if I was driving the correct speed limit because the kilometers was not moving at all I called XXXX XXXX that's the place I got the car from and had to tell them they will fix it my car sat in that dealership for a month and I wanted to return the car back and get my money back and go somewhere else so at that point I went to the dealership body shop to check on the vehicle inside the vehicle was a beer bottle as baby bottle and baby toys and old food bags from XXXX XXXX in the back seat, so I was a little alarmed and concerned about whom was driving my car for personal reasons and not fixing it, I confronted the body shop manager and he had an nasty attitude like so what I used your car over the weeks, at that point I just took the car and had it fixed on my own, and ever to time I went their with my 2 year warranty that I purchased with the dealership at XXXX XXXX they never had time to fix nothing on this car that they knew was their before I bought it, the car is XXXX credit acceptance charged me XXXX for that car and it's a XXXX model, XXXX XXXX selling lemons and credit acceptance charging people double the car cost and you have to fix it up yourself after you find out what a nice shiny lemon you bought, to be honest this is fraud on the dealership and credit acceptance because after my further investigation with this car I took it to a XXXX dealership and the results I was told was sickening it's a crack in the engine and their is a box the control all major function to operate the car was in recall years ago and XXXX stop making those model computer boxes years ago so that being said in due time to he car will self distruct because those model cars are all computer functioned, so at this point it's like I was bought in to be a customer of obtaining unfair and unwanted debt that was sold to me when I walked in the dealership front door, ok this is against the law and I need some one to give me a call.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a XXXX Model vehicle on XX/XX/XXXX, and after having it for less than 60 days it gave me some problems. After the repair shop accessed the issue it was determined to be engine failure. The cost was XXXX . I contacted my lender Credit Acceptance Corporation and discussed a payment arrangement because I was having to pay for repairs. Half of the money came out my pocket and I financed the other half. My financed payment was costing me XXXX $ /month so credit acceptance offered me a payment of XXXX $ /month for 6 months to help me out on my car note. Well CA never mentioned that this would show up as delinquent payments dropping my credit score over 150 points. I am having a hard time with certain finance companies trying to get a loan for home repairs. Credit acceptance never ever said this would be considered delinquent. I am hoping someone can look into this in hopes of getting my credit score back up.
