Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I closed my account with XXXX & XXXX on XXXX of XXXX and returned all equipment owed to this company. I have email confirmation that equipment was received and all debt was settled. Starting in XXXX of XXXX my wife began to receive collection statements from Convergent Outsourcing Inc. indicating that she owed {$480.00} due to a collection from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). She is now receiving a letter from a new company called XXXX XXXX XXXX saying they are willing to take a smaller amount to settle this balance. I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX to have them review my account and they indicated that not only did I not owe them a balance but that my account closed with a credit of {$5.00}. The XXXX & XXXX account was in my name, not my wife 's.

Consumer Complaint: I was contacted by Convergent XXXX to inform me that my phone bill was delinquent, however this debt was cleared shortly thereafter due to an accounting error. I reached out to the debt collection company via the email address on the written notice they sent me, # XXXX, and I did NOT get a bounceback/mailer daemon failure, so I assume it was delivered. Upon requesting further information to confirm this debt as well as requesting confirmation that my case has been updated/closed to reflect the state of my debt no longer being valid, no replies were sent back to me despite me sending emails to them with clear requests and documentation to clear my case. This company did do a satisfactory job of clearly identifying themselves as a debt collector, as well as informing me of my rights to challenge this debt notice, which I have, but they have not followed up on the communication channels provided. It is of the utmost importance to me that I get written verification from Convergent XXXX confirming that my case has been closed/that the debt sold to them to be collected from me is no longer valid.
