Consumer Complaint: XXXX has repeatedly made attempts to collect a misrepresented debt. I was in no contract of any sort. I bought the cell phone out right cash. It was explained to me that it was prepaid at time of purchase. I made many attempts to use the phone but the service was non existent. I had to stand at the side of my road outside of my home to even pick up 1 bar of service and while driving into different towns had XXXX service on the phone as well. They told me there was nothing they could do. XXXX provided no service to me on this phone. It was explained to be prepaid at the time of purchase. They continued to charge me for a phone I was not using and could not use. I could not even call them to cancel the service. They have sent this debt to at least 3 different collections companies - all who have dropped the collection account immediately upon informing them of this issue. Then they open the account with the next collection company and continue harassing me. I have attached a transcript of myself and an agent. I explained to them I was laid off at the beginning of Covid. I could not use the phone. And that I didnt understand my charges when it was prepaid service. They refused to close my account unless I called them from my service-less phone they sold me.

The information must be deleted from my report as soon as possible. I will be forced to seek legal counsel for relief through the court and file complaints with regulatory enforcement agencies including the CFPB, FTC and my state attorney general.
