Consumer Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXX, I sold some cryptocurrency on Coinbases mobile app ( a cryptocurrency exchange ). The sale amounted to {$490.00}. Coinbase inadvertently made a duplicate deposit to my XXXX XXXX XXXX account in this amount. I immediately alerted Coinbase and my bank. On XX/XX/XXXX, Coinbase retrieved the duplicate ( overpayment ) of {$490.00}. When I first alerted Coinbase to their mistake, they changed the history on my Coinbase account so as not to reflect their own accounting error. I complained to them at the time about that. Then, in XX/XX/XXXX, Coinbase locked me out of my account. At the time, I had approximately {$3.00} on their platform. Coinbase confiscated that balance and began claiming that I owe them {$490.00}. Clearly, {$3.00} plus {$490.00} equals {$490.00}. I explained immediately when I realized I had been locked out of my Coinbase account what had happened. I sent Coinbase a copy of my bank statement to prove that they had indeed received back their overpayment to me. Coinbase made a bogus claim that I owed this money because I received crypto and my bank reversed the charges. I have refuted this and so has my bank. I do not have any reverse charges on my account to Coinbase or Coinbase , Inc . I have proven that Coinbass claim is not true. There has been no crypto received by me that I did not pay for unless it was staking rewards, quizzes I took on Coinbasess app offered to all Coinbase customers, or other promotional rewards. I have paid for all of the cryptocurrency that I own. These things are easily verifiable because every cryptocurrency transaction is logged on the XXXX XXXX Coinbase then threatened to go into my account and force a payment of {$490.00} which I do not owe. I have repeatedly requested for Coinbase to show XXXX XXXX XXXX records which would identify what crypto I supposedly received for which Coinbase was not compensated, how much and on which date. Coinbase has failed to do this because there is no such transaction. Simply making a claim that I owe something and then demanding that I pay it is not a good or fair business practice. Coinbase can not show that I received any cryptocurrency from them for which they have not received payment because such a thing did not happen. Coinbase then sent me an email with some bogus reference number that I do not have in any of my records and nor does XXXX XXXX XXXX and Coinbase purports that the reference number is for an attempt to buy cryptocurrency where my bank simply did not honor the transaction. Again : attempting to purchase something and being denied is a completely different thing than receiving something and having the charges reversed. If Coinbase is willing to lose a customer and lock me out of my account, they should be able to prove what I owe. I reported Coinbase to the XXXX XXXX XXXX after not getting anywhere with the company internally. Coinbase repeatedly said they escalated my issue and they were working on the matter. That was their constant response via the XXXX to have the appearance of working with me. They never gave a resolution nor have they provided any proof of transaction numbers, supposed XXXX purchased, amounts of crypto purchasedabsolutely nothing. Coinbase is simply making a claim and expecting me to pay for it even though I have irrefutable proof that Coinbase is in error. Apparently this is a common practice of theirs which has resulted in Coinbase receiving a rating of XXXX by the XXXX XXXX XXXX In addition to this, last year, in XX/XX/XXXX, when I was new to cryptocurrency, I transferred roughly {$320.00} worth of XXXX XXXX from my XXXX account to my Coinbase wallet. I did not realize that Coinbase only supported this type of transaction on the Ethereum network at the time. In their investigation regarding the matter I am bringing forth today, Coinbase has gone back and made a deposit on my Coinbase account for this {$320.00} because they are now able to support transactions on the XXXX network. Also, just days ago, I accidentally transferred XXXX ( XXXX ) cryptocurrency to my Coinbase wallet instead of my intended wallet on a different platform. There is now XXXX dollars of money that belongs to me stuck on the Coinbase platform because they have locked me out of my account. I do not owe Coinbase any money. They have not done one single thing to prove otherwise however they have locked up money that belongs to me and my family. I want it back. I no longer have the desire to do business with Coinbase, but I do want my funds off of their platform that belong to me. Please help me get my money back.

Consumer Complaint: I currently have an investment account with Coinbase the leading cyrto exchange company out of XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2022 I received an email from Coinbase stating that I needed to update my identity profile by XX/XX/2022 or I was subject to being out of compliance with some federal regulations. I contacted Coinbase support group on XX/XX/2022 via a phone call to verify the email. I changed my password on XX/XX/2022 prior to this call. The agent from the support team was very difficult to understand so after 45 minutes or so of getting nowhere my account was locked until I could have my son help me with updating my identity profile. This was scheduled for XXXX XX/XX/2022 afternoon. On XX/XX/2022 I received another email from Coinbase stating the same information about being out of compliance and I had until XX/XX/2022 to fix the update. Since my account was to my understanding locked I waited until XXXX the XXXX to contact Coinbase 's support group to update the profile. We my son and I were able to successfully update the profile after about 60 minutes or so working with the Coinbase support group. I received an text from Coinbase late on XX/XX/2022 stating that the identity update was successful. I logged into my account that evening and found out my a large portion of my assets had been converted to a cash position and transfer to a bank account that I never heard of or authorized by me. I immediately contacted Coinbase 's support group who transferred me to their fraud group. I followed up on XX/XX/2022 with Coinbase 's support group and found out they were sorry but there is nothing they could do. The date of the theft was XX/XX/2022 the same day I received the first email stating I needed to update my identity profile. I never received any communications either by text, email or a phone call stating that an unknown device was entering my account or that my transfer bank name and location changed. As an custodian on a customer 's assets this is totally out of the norm in an age of hacking and cyber theft. I expect a total return of my assets from Coinbase based on the value the day of the theft or if appreciated the value the day of recovery. XXXX that are using Coinbase need to be aware of how dangerously risky it is to leave their assets with a custodial company that does not secure their investment.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX around XXXX my phone number was XXXX swapped and a hacker got access to my phone number, logged into my Coinbase account and changed my password. In the morning I saw I had no service and called my service provider ( XXXX XXXX ), they told me I had transferred my phone number. I denied this acting and they locked my phone number right away so hacker won't access any more of my accounts I fought back with my service provider to gain back my number and even had to get a police report. As I do this, I try to login to Coinbase and see my password had changed. I called Coinbase right away and explained to them what happened and that I needed access to my Coinbase account. They sent me email instructions to unlock my account and they told me that all of my cryptocurrencies were in my account and that there were no transfers in my account for the past 3 days. The next day ( XXXX ) I called back because I haven't received an email and the representative sent me another email. I never received that email also, so I checked my XXXX settings and the hacker had blocked Coinbase from contacts. I unblocked coinbase from my XXXX and called coinbase again for the email. They sent me another email to unlock my account which I finally received and I had to wait XXXX after unlock to access my account. Next day ( XX/XX/XXXX ) I finally log in my account and my account balance was {$0.00}. I had invested over {$440000.00} in Coinbase, but due to market volatility and a recent transfer of over {$50000.00} to my ledger I only had a value of around {$80000.00}. I called Coinbase to ask them what happened to my cryptocurrencies since own XX/XX/XXXX when first called, they told me all of my funds crypto 's were there and that there were no transactions. The representative couldn't answer my question, They couldn't see any cryptos, history, statements, transactions or even a payment method in my account. It seemed like I had a brand new Coinbase account. They escalated my case to Coinbase pro department case # XXXX and told me to wait for an email because they don't had phone service. On XX/XX/XXXX I wake up and receive an email from Coinbase : Our records show that on XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX your Coinbase Password was changed using a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, from residential IP address : XXXX - XXXX, ILLINOIS. After resetting your password, the attacker entered the new password and a 2-step verification code sent to your verified mobile number and signed in. This device was also confirmed for use with your account via the new device confirmation link sent to your email address. To reset your password, access to your email is required, suggesting an email compromise. your 2FA method has been changed as well, we highly suggest you contact your service provider to ensure only you are in control of your number, as an unauthorized password reset also indicates your phone number may have been compromised. After your account was accessed, the following transactions occurred in your Coinbase Pro account : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX - XXXX XXXX sent to external address XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX - XXXX XXXX sent to external address XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX - XXXX ETH sent to external address XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX - XXXX XXXX sent to external address XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX - XXXX XXXX sent to external address XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX - XXXX XXXX sent to external address XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX - XXXX XXXX sent to external address XXXX Coinbase was aware of my account being compromised on XX/XX/XXXX and assured me my account was being handled safe but they allowed hacker to transfer over {$80000.00} in crypto value the next day even when I called every day to get access to my account. Now Coinbase is not willing to take responsibility for their mistake and unwilling to refund me the cryptocurrencies they allowed to be transferred without my permission. I had first called on XX/XX/XXXX, there shouldn't be a reason why Coinbase allowed my account to be wiped out on XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: Hello. On XX/XX/2022 I purchased XXXX US Dollar Coin ( " USDC '' ) on Coinbase, funding the purchase from my XXXX XXXX checking account. The transaction went through ( reference number XXXX ) at XXXX the same day ( see screenshot # 1 ). I intended to use the USDC to fund my Coinbase debit card for a purchase coming up in a few days, but when I logged back in a few days later I noticed a second, unauthorized transaction in my USDC wallet history. Specifically, a transaction with the name " Spent USD Coin ( authorization ) Using Coinbase Card '' appears as having been completed at XXXX pm on XX/XX/2022 ( see screenshots # 2 and # 3 ). I did not initiate any transaction using my coinbase card on XX/XX/2022, and in fact this transaction does not appear at all in my coinbase card transaction history ( see screenshot # 4 ). The latest transaction in my coinbase card history took place on XX/XX/2022, and I can find no other record of this supposed " authorization '' transaction anywhere in my account. I have contacted Coinbase three times ( two by email and one by phone ), and after indicating they opened investigations, Coinbase has now told me twice that I contacted the wrong department, and the Coinbase funding team can not see coinbase card transactions, and the Coinbase card team can not see funding transactions. See Coinbase Case # 's XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. In my latest email, I requested this matter be escalated to a supervisor who could view both sides of the account, as based on the unauthroized transaction 's name, it appears to involve the coinbase card ( even if there is no record of it in the card 's history ). To sum up, I am missing XXXX USDC ( worth {$2400.00} ), due to an apparently automatic transaction to authorize the coinbase card, that is not reflected in Coinbase 's record-keeping of the card 's transactions.
