Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Consumer Complaint: I have done my research on this collection company that is reporting to my Credit Reports that I owe a debt, and in my findings I discovered via The California Secretary of State that XXXX XXXX XXXX is not, nor have they ever been bonded in the state of California to do business and/or collect debts. So i have questions : 1. What is your authorization of law for your collection of information? 2. What is your authorization of law for your collection of this alleged debt? 3. Can you evidence your authorization to do business or operate in this state?

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: For a little over a year now, beginning in XXXX of 2017, XXXX XXXX has been reporting a XXXX collection to my credit for over {$2000.00}. I have attempted to dispute this account a number of times - both in writing to XXXX XXXX and via the credit bureaus as well - but XXXX XXXX continues to verify it as accurate and it remains on my reports. Despite multiple disputes and letters to the company requesting documentation, they have yet to provide any proof of the debt or charges that created it. I assert that I owe no debts to XXXX and do not know why there is an outstanding collection in my name. As XXXX XXXX refuses to send me any verification, I am still in the dark on this matter.

Consumer Complaint: I have numerously disputed this XXXX account. It was originally purchased by another collection agency and I wrote that agency telling them to provide me with a signed contract that I purchased this acct and because they were not able to validate or verify this acct it was ultimately removed and deleted from my acct. Now I see that another agency has taken over this debt and are reporting to the bureaus. I Ask again please provide a signed contract with my name or remove from my credit.

Issue: False statements or representation
Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: This complaint is regarding a debt with XXXX that occurred over five years ago in which the company charged me incorrectly. At the time, I contacted XXXX attempting to dispute the amount but there was no resolution. My account was immediately sent to collections and it was subsequently charged off with a reported debt of over {$400.00}. Several weeks ago, I noticed that the charged off mark from XXXX had disappeared from my credit report and assumed that it had aged off per the statute of limitations set forth by the FDIC. However, that was not the case. The XXXX debt was apparently sold to a debt buying company because today a new creditor called XXXX XXXX XXXX has flagged my account with a brand new debt of {$550.00} carrying a due date of XX/XX/2018 which is today. It is clear that this action was taken by XXXX and XXXX to circumvent the consumer protection law regarding time limitations on credit reporting.

Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I have reported this debt on my credit report to each credit bureau and also the company that placed it because it is a result of identity theft. I have lived in XXXX, XXXX since XX/XX/XXXX and once I moved out of my fathers home in XX/XX/XXXX I put my electricity bill in my name and have so even now. There is no reason I would have needed a electricity bill in XXXX XXXX when I do not live there. This is a case of identity theft. I have never received any bills, notifications, or any other notice of this account until it was placed on my credit report and I have been dealing with trying to have it removed and a fraud alert placed on my account since then. The amount is {$2400.00} dollars.

Consumer Complaint: 1 ) On XX/XX/XXXX, I filed a dispute with XXXX when I noticed that someone had opened up an account with XXXX using my information, in XX/XX/XXXX, and that XXXX XXXX XXXX was the agency doing the collections. The bill is for {$1500.00}. This has ruined my credit! This fraudulent account that was opened with my information was not even possible to have been made by me, because at that time, I was in the process of moving out of state, already had a phone through another carrier, and certainly did not need another. I did not have a XXXX account, nor did I open up one in XX/XX/XXXX. I did not make any purchases with XXXX, nor was I making any payments prior to XX/XX/XXXX, as I did not have any XXXX products. 2 ) My husband and I suffered identity theft when XXXX, the national company that parents XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX of XXXX, was the victim of a massive cyber attack. We were notified by XXXX that we were also victims of the attack, and that their " XXXX '' company was going to monitor our credit. This was supposed to be a 24-month protection. ( I found out later that they had been lax in their service, and that there was no credit monitoring for about a year. ) 3 ) I've had identity theft problems some years before that with : a ) someone who had opened up a phone account in the state of XXXX with another carrier. This took months to clear up. b ) someone who bought a dining set in my name. I was able to have this cleared up thanks to my bank. The perpetrator, a woman, was caught and put in jail. 4 ) I received a report back from XXXX saying that the company declares the information to be accurate. The details they state on the report actually prove it could not have been me. 5 ) I have read that I have the right to ask that this information be blocked from my file, and will be taking action for it to be blocked. 6 ) I suggest a new way of doing business, because with all the cyber attacks going on, American people are being victimized right and left, with no real means of protecting themselves.
