Issue: Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Subissue: Threatened to sue you for very old debt

Consumer Complaint: Citi bank started litigation for a time barred debt which has way past it's statute. Every time I file a complaint to the CFPB the response of the bank is simply that this matter is in pending litigation which is exactly the reason why I actually filed this complaint that they began litigation on time barred debt in violation of the FDCPA. Their continued response that the matter is in litigation is not an answer or an excuse, it's actually the core issue and violation why I'm complaining about and must be properly addressed.

Issue: Credit monitoring or identity theft protection services

Subissue: Billing dispute for services

Consumer Complaint: My fiance and me XXXX XXXX opened a CD with CITI bank located at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, IL XXXX. We had a cashers check for {$51000.00} XXXX made out from our other bank XXXX XXXX XXXX now known as XXXX XXXX XXXX located in XXXX XXXX, Il. This was for CITI 's offer for their Priory Account this went to terminus one year later and we moved {$58000.00} with another cashers check from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for their CD offer consolidating both. On XXXX CITI sent a letter to us stating that they were going to close the account and we only had so many weeks left to remove the money or it would be restricted or impounded. They said because they did not have all the information on us etc., 1 ) This money was at CITI only two months in a CD before asked to move it, 2 ) They charged us {$730.00} for early withdrawal on the CD even though they were the one 's who said to leave CITI. 3 ) CITI said they needed more information on us even though we already had an account with them. 4 ) I called many times to CITI and always got someone in the XXXXXXXX XXXX. Incredibly XXXX said that I should be receiving a check in a few weeks that I never received. 5 ) Talking to XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) at CITI on XXXX XXXX XXXX, IL who opened the CD for us was clueless why they would do that, I asked for his supervisor and he said her name was XXXX XXXX XXXX and he said she made such decisions. I called many times and no one never got back to me. 6 ) You do not have to look far to see that CITI as a sordid work ethic. See XXXX XXXX Report and XXXX. 7 ) Being seventy-three and retired for many years they should know better and I want my {$730.00} back. You are welcome to use all my information, including my name, to help others.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Problem accessing account

Consumer Complaint: CiTi Bank just want to spy on customers. This new spying practice required to have nice phone that is able to do what CiTi Bank wants it to do. There is no way anymore to use ID and password to get into the account whenever and wherever you are. Now, need to be on the phone with CiTi Bank for hours and they already sent bunch of verifications code on my phone and still it required to get another code by dialing number 1 on dial pad that isn't working for me on my phone. CiTi Bank does not let me another option like email. No, they want what they want and not what I am comfortable with. They want to know where I am right now. They want to know my spot. This is criminal. They want to track my phone. I was hour after hour on the phone and still simply can not get my account number that I needed. The CiTi Bank assisting criminals who violate customer civil and constitutional rights. Whatever I complained about before did not get an appropriate investigation. Criminal net is growing against innocent victims. Criminals get covered up. If I got a problem with the phone I got a problem with Bank, like it was last year and at the beginning of this year. When my phone got dysfunctional and I was not able to get into my Bank account. I provided temporary phone number and now the CiTi created a problem by not changing my temporary phone number back to my permanent number. What kind of law allow them to spy on people and create obstacles? I am denying to have that double security on my account through the phone. When I am a customer saying that I have fraudulent charges billed to my debit card, they do not respect me they continue to respect fraudulent activity. This is what was happened to me that I have to complain about again to some different organisation because your business did not help. After I promised that I will complaint now they created one more obstacle for me. Now after I put my ID and password I have to put my debit card number and code. It is done to block customers from using their money.
