Consumer Complaint: Opened a checking account with Citi for a promotion. When trying to log into my online account to transfer funds, I was notified that " XXXX Blocked - Error Code XXXX ''. Called the number provided. After being on hold for XXXX hour, I was told that my account was in restricted status and that I would receive a letter explaining why and that my funds would not be available for XXXX days. When I pressed them for more information- they hung up on me. I called back and was finally able to talk to someone who told me that a fraud investigation was initiated on my account due to a direct deposit FROM my employer to my Citi checking account and my account was in restricted status and there was nothing they can do to help me get my funds. I did not initiate a fraud claim nor was I contacted at any point to verify any transactions that triggered their fraud system. They just closed my account and told me afterwards.

Consumer Complaint: I have been disputing an account with CitiCard since the beginning of XX/XX/XXXX when they reported an account that was past due. This account was settled and paid off in XX/XX/XXXX. I have spoken to CitiCard and they sent me a letter stating there was a XXXX balance. Still unresolved. I submitted a dispute through here, and CitiCard came back and said the past due balance was correct. It is not. I am attaching the letter stating the XXXX balance, and the dispute resolution contradicting their first letter. I also spoke to the law office today who handled the pay off and they are emailing me a XXXX balance letter and stated that CitiCard in XX/XX/XXXX was notified the account was paid.

Consumer Complaint: If, in fact this credit card was mine years ago, debt would have been paid at least 13 years ago. They claim I owe over {$17000.00} from an address and card I may have had in XXXX. I have had no correspondence to this ever and I'm not even sure I had a citibank card back then. I have no records any longer and had all credit card and debts taken care of in XXXX.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Didn't receive terms that were advertised
Consumer Complaint: I was offered a {$1000.00} cash bonus if I signed up for an account and deposited at least {$70000.00} in the account within the first 20 days. At first, when I called to find out where I could find my account number ( because I set up the account online ), I was told by the representative that I would not know my account number until I received a welcome kit in the mail. I therefore could not deposit the money, as their online automated transfer system had errors every time I tried to use it. I called again after waiting almost 2 weeks and was told that there was no welcome kit being mailed and that I could view my account number online. I then had only a few days to process my transfer of $ XXXX from my old bank to Citibank. This was very stressful but I accomplished it in time. Now that it is over 60 days after the 21st day of setting up my account, I checked my checking account for the $ XXXX bonus. It was not there, and when I called their customer service, they told me there was no promotion attached to the account. This was very strange, as the representatives I had spoken to in my first 20 days at Citibank were all aware of the promotion, as I nearly didn't make the 20-day deadline and had asked for an extension.

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I made a transaction of {$1400.00} on a private website and the shipper marked the product as delivered but I never received it. I reached out to the business for no use, I have been continuously following up with the bank and created multiple disputes but they were closed without any proper justification. On my 6th dispute, I was requested for an affidavit which was submitted in time but that too was closed without a reason. I have been calling them every month since XX/XX/2021, but they stopped accepting a dispute after a year but I still kept trying to reach to a supervisor and discuss my issue. Their call centers are based out in XXXX countries, the reps on call hardly understand what is being said and they either XXXX on my face or ask to call later. Recently, in XXXX, I got a call from Citibank asking to clear out all the balance but I refused due to the pending dispute. The person over the call was patient to listen my story and promised to raise it to their corporate and come back with a solution, he confirmed not pay anything till theres a solution to this. But in a few weeks I was notified about a late payment derogatory remark submitted by Citibank relating to the same transaction. I have been reaching out to Citibank to get this corrected but no one is able to understand not willing to help. They even cut short my credit limit to XXXX from XXXX, which is making a bad effect on my credit history.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Funds not handled or disbursed as instructed
Consumer Complaint: I received a bonus promotion from Citibank and on XX/XX/2023 I funded my savings account in the amount of {$75000.00}. Prior to funding my account I called to ask whether the money had to go into checking or savings and were told that it did not matter. Hence, money was sent to the savings account. I was advised that the money had to stay in the account for at least 60 days but could be taken out after that. I was further told that I had to keep {$1500.00} in that account to avoid getting charged a monthly maintenance fee and to prevent my account from being closed. I kept receiving messages that my checking account would be closed if no money is deposited into it. I called Citibank on a recorded line and was told I could just let the checking account get closed and that I only had to make sure that my savngs account would remain open to receive the {$1000.00} bonus by XX/XX/2023 ( latest funding date ). After continuing to receive messages that my checking account would be closed if no money is deposited into it, I called Citibank again and it was confirmed to me by the service representative that I could allow the checking account to be closed without this affecting my bonus for which I have already qualified. There are recordings from Citibanm of this that can be subpoenad. I have patiently waited until XX/XX/2023 to call and find out why I had not yet received the promotional bonus amount. I was told by one representative that this was because my checking account was closed. He was supposed to file an inveatigation but then hung up the phone on me. I followed up my call with another call and another representative assured me that I had met the terms of the agreement and that she would submit an investigation complaint. Today on XX/XX/2023 I called Citibank after having received no news from them regarding the investigation, and I was told that my request was denied because my checking account was closed. I told them to check the recordings of the calls with all of their representatives, since I have been calling ad nauseum with requests to confirm when it was okay to move the money out of savings and whether I needed to keep the checking account open. However, the supervisor told me that a decision was made by the bonus department and they are sorry but this is what it is. Please let me know when you need the account information, and other data to identify my account and to help look into this matter.

Consumer Complaint: I have an XXXX XXXX AAdvantage credit card issued by Citi. I've received an annual membership fee. I do not use the card so I try to cancel. Citi can not find my account even though I clearly can log on and see the bill due. They say they can not help me. I do not want to perpetually pay off this fee, I received an unusual activity statement from XXXX 's credit monitoring tool which alerted me to the fee. If I do not pay this fee it will likely effect my credit. I've attached the statement.
