Consumer Complaint: 1 ) My sister, XXXX XXXX, holds a Capital One credit card. XXXX is not well and I applied to Capital One to become Power of Attorney for XXXX XXXX credit card, carefully following the instructions in the " Capital One Power of Attorney, Conservator, Guardian Request Guide '' which I found online, and sending them the required documents, including a copy of the signed and notarized Power of Attorney and a copy of my State of New Jersey driver 's license. 2 ) Capital One rejected my application, writing " Copy of valid government issued ID for attorney-in-fact/agent was not provided or not legible. '' 3 ) I then made a better copy of my driver 's license on a high resolution copy machine at my local library ( rather than on the home copier I had used the first time ) and sent that along with a copy of my passport to Capital One. 4 ) Capital One again rejected the application, for the same reason. 5 ) I called Capital One at the phone number provided in their rejection letter ( XXXX ) to find out what the problem could be with the copies I provided. I provided the case number in Capital One 's rejection letter, XXXX. The Capital One representative said he could find no record of this case number and could not speak to me about the account because it belongs to my sister and not to me. This of course is accurate, which is why I am trying to get Capital One to accept the Power of Attorney. Further, the Capital One representative advised that he did not know how to connect me to the Power of Attorney department and could not provide a number for them.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I am filing a complaint against Capital One for reporting inaccuracies across all three major credit bureaus : XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. These inaccuracies include erroneous account statuses, balances, and other critical credit information that fail to reflect my actual credit history. XXXX of Inaccuracies : The errors were identified during a credit report review on XX/XX/2023. Initial Dispute Actions : Formal dispute letters were sent to Capital One on XX/XX/2023, for each credit bureau, challenging the reported information and demanding compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) and XXXX XXXX standards. Nature of Discrepancies : The disputes involve inconsistencies in reported account statuses, balances, and dates of activities for the periods of XX/XX/2023 and XX/XX/2023. Lack of Adequate Response : As of XX/XX/2023, Capital One has not provided satisfactory responses or resolutions to these disputes. Impact on Credit Score : These reporting inaccuracies are negatively impacting my credit score and financial opportunities, causing undue stress and potential financial loss. Repeated Resolution Attempts : Despite multiple attempts to resolve these issues directly with Capital One and providing a 30-day window for investigation and correction, the inaccuracies remain unaddressed. I am now seeking the CFPB 's assistance to ensure that Capital One corrects these errors across all three credit reports and adheres to FCRA and XXXX XXXX reporting standards. The ongoing inaccuracies in my credit reports are causing significant harm to my financial standing.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from Capital One stating that my account has been closed due to violating the " Customer Agreement '', however they never specified what terms of the customer agreement was violated. I reached out to capital one multiple time and spoke to multiple people XXXX in an attempt to understand the reason the account was closed, but I was never able to get an answer. I've been a customer with Capital One for over 15 years and have multiple products with Capital Once including checking accounts, savings account, and a business credit card. I never been late on this card, and only have one item set up on a reoccurring payment from this account each month. Based on this information I think it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY I did anything to violate the " Customer Agreement ''. I have filed a complaint with Capital One regarding this matter, however I never heard anything back regarding the complaint. Additionally, I put in a request to reopen the account through Capital One, however they denied my request, and did not provide any details on why the account reopen request was denied. Any assistance that you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: Capital One closed my accounts ( x2 ) over " failing to meet card policy expectations '' yet 1. ) these expectations were not clearly defined and 2. ) I am assuming it was over a missed payment on one of my accounts which was the first time I had missed a payment with Capital One plus on my other account, the balance was not even due yet ( due XX/XX/XXXX ) so they closed this account without even waiting to receive payment on this. I feel that while I did miss a payment, I feel that this is wrong for Capital One to close BOTH of my accounts without even so much as reaching out to me to let me know of the consequences. From XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX, they stated that my payment was due and late, however, late payments are after 30 days and I had made my XXXX payment on XX/XX/XXXX which covered previous charges- they even reported this payment as late to the credit bureaus which is fraudulent as the payment would have only been late by a few days, not 30 days. I recently lost my job and fell on hard times but I had full intent to pay my card balances as I have done numerous times in full in the past. I am even starting a new job on XX/XX/XXXX so this really hurt me. I spoke to two customer service representatives who couldn't even offer me an explanation and only gave a vague response of " you violated card holder policy ''. I even went ahead today and paid the balances on both cards in full ( see attached for proof ). I am extremely upset and disappointed in Capital One as I valued doing business with them. I feel extremely wronged and I am just asking that Capital One considers this decision and re-open my accounts. That is all I am asking for.
