Subissue: Fraudulent loan
Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from Capital One Auto Finance XX/XX/2023 for a loan for 72 months, monthly payments {$670.00} and first payment due XX/XX/2023. I reached out to Cap One on XXXX and had to leave a message. I waited the XXXX hours it said but no one called me back. On XXXX someone reached out to me to let me know that I needed to fill out some documents and file a police report before they would start an investigation. They will not accept the documents via email. They will only accept them via fax or regular mail. This loan was taken out in XXXX, and I have lived in southern Indiana over 30 years. I feel as if Capital One did not do their due diligence at the time this loan was given for proof of identification.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I requested the card several time and never received it. As a final attempt, I called in XXXX for the card to be sent to my new resident and they seem to have mixed up my accounts as I do have several credit card accounts with them but I never got it and the account was closed due to non use ... .How do I use an account I don't have the card for. Anyhow I called to see what had happened and they advised that they sent it out and it was undeliverable because they didn't have my unit number and they then closed the account. I feel they should have took into consideration that I have been trying to get the card to use the account they fail to successfully send the card. The mangers I spoke to show no empathy and didn't investigate my other accounts to see how many times they replaced my other accounts credit cards when they were supposed to replace this specific one. Very frustrated by this as it affected my credit, their policy only protects them!

Consumer Complaint: XXXX Re : Capital One Fraudulent Actions XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Products XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX TX XXXX Acct # XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX In XXXX of this year, I received a letter ( see attached ) from Capital One stating that according to federal law they needed additional information to prove my identity. As per the instructions, I faxed the completed form along with copies of my drivers license and passport. After a couple of weeks with no response from them, I phoned and asked the status of the review. After being placed on hold for a long time, I was told that the copies of my license and passport were not clear enough and that I needed to re-send them. So, thinking that the process of making copies and then faxing them XXXX have degraded the images, I printed copies and mailed them. After no response for several weeks, I called and asked the status. Again, I was placed on hold for a long time and then was told that the copies I mailed were not clear enough. Next, I mailed enlarged copies and verified that everything was legible. After several weeks and no response from Capital I called again. This time I was told the account was closed. Other than the letter I received in XXXX, I have not received any communications from Capital One regarding the status of my credit card account. I have an XXXX credit score. I pay my bills on time. There is no other reason for them to close my account other than to take my {$950.00} credit balance and my XXXX points that I earned. This whole scenario smacks of fraud. It is obvious that closing my account and keeping my points creates much quicker profit for them. Capital One can run their business any way they choose, and if they want to close my account, no problem. They should not be allowed to steal my money and earned points.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: In 2020 during the pandemic I accrued three late payments on my Capital One Silver credit card. They offered a program that allowed customers to push back payments due to financial hardship with no penalty at the time. I applied for the program. I was told I did not submit paperwork and three months past due payments showed up on my credit report as result. I've had this card for over 7 years with NO late payments. I've been a great Capital One customer for years. I wrote several letters to Capital One requesting them to send letters to the credit bureaus to retract the three months of late payments as I submitted to be enrolled in their program. After several letters Capital One has not removed the late payments. It truly unfair how I was treated in this matter, my credit was damaged and my ability to access credit was hurt. This prohibited me from having access to loans and homeownership.

Subissue: Problem with cash advances
Consumer Complaint: I was stuck waiting for a new Capital One 360 debit card for 2 weeks. I needed {$100.00} in cash, and called about using my Quicksilver card for a cash advance. The customer service representative clearly explained that interest started accruing immediately. This was fine by me, since I had money to pay the balance off immediately from my Capital One 360 checking account. However, upon using the card for {$100.00} of cash advance, I have been unable to pay off the balance. The cash advance charge was made on XXXX, but on XXXX, the charge is still pending. I called to try and pay the balance, but the representative confirmed that I started paying interest on the XXXX, and the XXXX. However I would be unable to pay off the cash advance until it finished pending and appeared on the balance. This is most likely to happen on XXXX. It seems very predatory that I am paying interest for 3 days, and have tried to pay the charge, but am not allowed to pay it until it settles in Capital One 's system.
