Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I received a credit reporting notice that a late payment was reported on my credit report. I investigated and found that Kohls reported a late payment to my credit report. I looked up my account on the Kohls charge card site to find that the autopay that I had previously setup was no longer setup and my payment wasnt processed. This resulted in a 30 day late payment being reported to my credit file. I spoke with Kohls credit card customer service and they will not fix the 30 day late payment and have refused to acknowledge that my autopay was cancelled by them when my account balance had been at a {$0.00} level. I was not notified of the late payment until after the 30 days had passed. See attached screenshot showing the only notification that the payment was late, this was a voicemail that I received on XX/XX/XXXX, 1 day past the 30 day late mark.

Consumer Complaint: This is a complaint against the improper closure of a transaction dispute filed with Capital One and the callous nature of their response. 1 ) XX/XX/XXXX : The initial dispute was filed ( letter from Capital One confirmed this and an initial refund for the amount was placed on the credit card ). 2 ) XXXX : Received an online letter asking for more info and documentation. This was the *first* time in this entire process that XXXX had asked for documentation from my end. I was given only two options to repsond -- > snail mail or fax. They even warned me about taking XXXX days to respond. 3 ) XXXX : In order to speed things up, within hours of getting the online letter from XXXX, I faxed a letter and all communication between myself and the merchant in question. 4 ) XXXX : Within literally hours after receiving my fax on the very same day, I got another letter telling me that the case has been closed because I did not provide some unnamed piece of information. They could have shown the minimum courtesy of telling me what that missing piece of information was which they did not. This complaint is to put on record the fact that Capital One had no desire to investigate this issue. They simply wanted to close this and move on.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I contacted Capital One to do a Pay for Delete for a charged off credit card. The rep stated that Capital One does not do Pay for Deletes. I asked the rep what were my options. The rep stated that I could make full payment or do a settlement. The original amount of the charge off is {$5200.00}. The first amount the rep asked me to do was {$3900.00} and I said no. Then, the next amount was {$3200.00} and I again said no. We finally agreed to settle the amount for {$2800.00} and paid for as agreed. I asked the rep to please send that agreement by email or by mail. The rep stated that Capital One doesn't do that and they only send it after payment. I told the rep again that I was requesting the settlement agreement in writing before I make a payment. The rep again stated Capital One doesn't do that.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX Capital One Savings Account # XXXX I responded to a Capital One savings account promotion on XX/XX/XXXX by opening a consumer savings account. The promotion promised a {$100.00} bonus on condition of depositing {$10000.00} within 15 days of account opening. The following day on XX/XX/XXXX, I deposited the {$10000.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, I withdrew {$9000.00} from the account following the 90 days. See the text of the offer here : " Earn a cash bonus when you open a high-yield 360 Performance Savings account with promo code XXXX, make a deposit of external funds within 15 days and hold the deposit in the account for 90 days. '' According to the offer, the {$100.00} bonus should have been deposited by XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted CapitalOne regarding the bonus and was told that the 90-day holding period began on XX/XX/XXXX, not on XX/XX/XXXX, and that I had not met the 90-day holding requirement. The representative stated that the case would be escalated for consideration and could take 45-60 days to resolve. This failure to make clear the timing requirement is deceptive and unfair. Had I known the holding period commenced on XX/XX/XXXX rather than XX/XX/XXXX, I'd have left the funds in for more time. On the surface, this is 12 USC 5531 violation.
