Subissue: Bounced checks or returned payments
Consumer Complaint: Capital One is the WORST bank ever. For the last 5 years they have tried their very best to put my small woman owned business at risk for closing. I will start with the latest nonsense that happened last week, XX/XX/XXXX. A contractor mailed a check from their bank, XXXX XXXX XXXX ( which I found out is just as bad as Capital One ). I digress, my customer told me that their bank " flagged a check '' as fictitious, but to have me deposit the check. I deposited the check as I had been told, and less than 3 days later the check was returned and my account was flagged. I went out of town for 5 days, when I learned that this check bounced in my business account, but also my personal account. Capital One locked me out of my accounts while on holiday. I spoke with numerous Capital One reps from the Recovery Department, again on holiday when after 2 hours of callbacks, getting placed on hold, a lovely CS rep was able to remove the block from my personal account. I learned that the replacement check for the " fictitious '' check was not going to clear for 5 business days, and it didn't matter that I had to pay my employees health benefits, payroll, rent, etc. Finally, after arguing with Capital One about the unfair treatment of ME ( their customer ) ; they told me that if we bounce anymore checks, they were going to drop my company as a customer. The utter nerve of this bank who has caused me more grief than any other institution, threatened me! I am the victim, NOT Capital One! They deserve punishment for ruining my vacation, and causing my XXXX to become intolerable. This is NO WAY to treat long term customers. Capital One needs to formally apologize to me for treating me as if I were the criminal bouncing checks all over. I hate Capital One, and will be removing my personal and business funds. Meanwhile, I expect satisfaction for the stress, aggravation and the payment of every bounced check this has caused. Capital One Bank must pay for what they continue to do to my small business.

Consumer Complaint: This is a dispute involving Capital One and XXXX. Capital One in a letter, dated XX/XX/2023, notified us that the XXXX has responded and Capital One has accepted their explanation resulting in reversal of charges. I am objecting to the decision made by Capital One to close this case. Capital Ones decision was one-sided and is contrarily to the rules of evidence and has failed to request any documents from me in the course of its investigation. XXXX has {$6900.00} charged us for a rental property which we cancelled with their authorization and written consent. Now XXXX is refusing to refund us the {$6900.00} and Capital One has revered the charges without proper investigation and considering the evidence. We have communicated with XXXX and Capital One to no avail.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX my money market account was hacked by a scammer and then again on XX/XX/23 I thought I was talking to the Capital One Fraud department since I was transferred when I called the number on the back of my credit card to report the fraud. It was an elaborate scan which I did not realize until the money was gone. I since have reported the fraud to the local police, the FBI, the DOJ, the Secret Service, the SSA, XXXX, plus all the credit bureaus. Capital One only tells me " its being investigated '' but this has been going on for over a month and the DOJ suggested that I contact the CFPB. The account is supposed to be insured by the FDIC and there should be protection against innocent people who get scammed.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX Capital ONE XXXX XXXX XXXX, UT XXXX XXXX Re : Dispute of Late Payments on Credit Report - Violation of Connecticut Fair Credit Laws To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to dispute the late payments listed on my credit report that I believe are in violation of the Connecticut Fair Credit Reporting Act ( Conn. Gen. Stat. 36a-694 et seq ). I am deeply concerned about the accuracy and fairness of the information that has been reported on my consumer credit file. Name : XXXX XXXX XXXX Address : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX CT I have recently reviewed my credit report from your agency and discovered multiple late payments that have been reported by my creditors. However, I contend that these late payments are not accurate representations of my credit history and, therefore, should not be included on my consumer credit report. Specifically, the late payments in question are regarding transactions that, in my view, do not meet the criteria for inclusion in a credit report, as stipulated by the Connecticut Fair Credit Reporting Act. Under the Connecticut Fair Credit Reporting Act, certain transactions should not be reported on a consumer 's credit file. Late payments, in my understanding, should only be reported when they pertain to actual credit obligations or debts. In my case, the late payments in question do not correspond to any credit or loan obligations. These late payments are the result of transactions unrelated to credit agreements, such as fines, fees, or other non-credit-related charges. Therefore, they should not be included in my credit history, as they do not accurately reflect my creditworthiness. I kindly request that you investigate this matter and promptly remove these erroneous late payments from my credit report as per the Connecticut Fair Credit Reporting Act. I also request that you provide me with a revised copy of my credit report after the necessary corrections have been made. It is essential for me to maintain an accurate and fair credit history, as it impacts my financial well-being and opportunities for credit in the future. I understand that the Connecticut Fair Credit Reporting Act requires credit reporting agencies to complete their investigation and provide a written response within 30 days of receiving a dispute. I hope for a timely resolution to this matter. Thank you for your prompt attention to this dispute. I look forward to receiving a written response detailing the results of your investigation and any actions taken to correct my credit report. Please feel free to contact me if you require any further information or clarification regarding this dispute. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On or about XX/XX/, I went to a CapitalOne Bank and made a cash payment of {$2900.00} which was the balance on my credit card ending in XXXX. The payment was applied to my credit card ending in XXXX. In spite of my efforts over a two day period, including walking back into the bank and asking them to reverse the charge which they refused to do, it took in excess of a week for CapitalOne to move the money to the correct account. I spoke with two different supervisors on the phone that said they were making notes of the mistakes and that I would not be charged any additional charges or interest. Now, they are charging me {$25.00} and said it doesn't matter because I would have had to have a XXXX balance for two months to avoid interest charges. I'm not a rocket scientist, but how do they charge interest on a XXXX balance? I feel this is deceptive and predatory and believe the charges are unjust.
