Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I had a XXXX account when I was XXXX XXXX XXXX, and because you have to be at least 18 years of age to have a XXXX account, I believe the Informations was sent to credit card companies and then credit cards were sent to our address. When my father ran out of money to lay for food and other necessities I pointed out that we had credit cards that kept being sent to us, and so we used one to pay for food and other necessities. Shortly after the credit card was used, a serious family problem occurred which resulted in forgetting about the use of the credit card. About a decade later ( now ) I decided to get a Capitol One credit card, and when I signed up for it, there was no mention of a credit account in my name before my current one. A month or two after I got the Capital One credit card I was sent a paper in the mail from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) saying that I owe them {$450.00} because they bought my previous Capital One credit card debt. I then disputed their claim because I assumed they were talking about the credit card I got just after turning 18 and they sent me copies of papers of Capital One saying that the XXXX acquired my credit card account with a balence of {$450.00} ( The credit card used for buying groceries ). My father and I then decided to call XXXX and see if we could somehow get the debt transferred to his name without any record of this debt being in my name. They then proceeded with telling us to pay it off and it will no longer be there but that didn't help us since there was still a chance for it to show up as a paid debt in my credit report.

Consumer Complaint: I applied to refinance my car loan. Was approved and contacted by CapOne to complete the process. They contacted my lender with me on the phone for a 3-way call to verify payoff amount. At the conclusion of that call, my current lender and I were assured by CapOne the payoff check was in the mail and that I should look forward to a welcome packet in the mail. I signed not one but two contracts, and was told everything was good, nothing else I needed to do. After a few days I received an email to contact them. When I contacted CapOne they now tell me they don't do refinances on 'title loans ' despite the name of the lender being 'Discount Title Loans ' during the entire negotiation and 3-way call. At best this is incompetency, at worst it is out right lying and deceitful. I've had probably 5 car loans with CapOne over the last twenty or so years and still like the company, but this situation was completely mishandled and now not only can I not get the requested refinancing, but they want me to eat the credit inquiry when the deal fell through on their side not mine. I went and paid off the loan today, I only want the refinance to build a little credit, but since neither is the case at this point, I'd like the hard inquiry removed from my credit.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/ I opened both a checkings account and savings account with CapitalOne. I set-up a direct deposit from my employer to send {$250.00} every pay period to CapitalOne. CapitalOne has received one deposit of {$250.00} from my employer but is holding my funds due to " suspicious activity '' on my account. I have made 3 calls in total to CapitalOne over a period of 2 weeks now. The first call was made on XX/XX/. They have not returned any of my calls and I am always redirected to an answering machine. Each time I call, CapitalOne states they will give me a call back in 48 hours, but I have not received any callbacks. The ACH transaction number for my deposit is XXXX.

When you open up this case and investigate - you will see that I have clear, concise notes on the memo section which reflects my true intentions and there is no game-playing here.
