Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I called Capital One to ask them what date did my grace period end due to a temporary financial hardship that was ending. My payments had not been late and I was calling to discuss when I could pay before their grace period ended. They told me XX/XX/XXXX was the last day. Payment was made on XX/XX/XXXX, yet late payment still showed up on XX/XX/XXXX.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I placed an XXXX order last year and tried for the longest to get my money back or a portion. I filtered out to have the whole HOUSE, and I found this. I thought it was a nice place, but it turned out to be a motel. I travel with a full, big-size XXXX XXXX, so when we leave her alone in the room, we request a home so there is no disturbance. Unfortunately, when we went there, you could hear literally everything through all the walls and doors. We didn't feel safe, and it wasn't what was listed in the description. I tried doing a dispute with the owner since we couldn't even stay one night, but she wouldn't provide any type of refund but only another location that's exactly like the one we are complaining about so she can " tend to our needs '' in this problem. After a long talk, she agreed to provide a small refund that was less than 30 % of what I paid but she never went through with it and ended up changing her mind and telling XXXX, no. I was I spoke with customer service multiple times stating that I was aware of the business but unfortunately, the listing was incorrect, and I would just like a refund. Afterward, they just declined everything, closed my case, and took my money.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: I submitted an application with capital one for a savor one card. I already went through a pre approval online through capital one and was told I was approved. When i submitted my application I was denied. I was shocked I have XXXX credit, low balances less than 10 % used, great credit history, always pay my bills, and a business owner. I received a email for the reason why and it was an adverse decision was to many active credit cards. Under there reasons of why I would get an adverse decision that wasnt listed. I called customer service because I feel it was a mistake. I got escalated to a supervisor and explained the situation and it doesnt make sense. She told me they can not do anything about it.. she didnt bother looking into it. I asked her Was vindictive because i cancelled a capital one credit card or discriminative?? She laughed and said have a good day and hung up.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals
Consumer Complaint: As of XXXX of XXXX I have had {$7900.00} in an account that I can not access. My funds have been locked up, and won't be released as per many attempts to withdraw them from multiple locations. As well as call numerous times the customer service departments, and special service lines on the matter. They can not give me any information about nor can they tell me anything as far as when they will release my funds to me. This has been over a year I've been dealing with this matter, and have been very patient. First I lost everything in hurricane Ida, and I have been struggling since to get everything repaired on my home. I've been denied any assistance on the repairs because of how soon I purchased the home as to when the storm hit. I've had many problems over this matter happening for instance, I had to go to prison because someone said I stole their money because I couldn't access these funds to do the work I was paid to do. This has caused hardships on top of hardships, they should be responsible for these, and still nothing is done about the real criminals in all this. Please do something, I really don't deserve what they are doing to me. The company is Capital One Bank XXXXXXXX XXXX Thanks Again ....

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Banking errors
Consumer Complaint: I am filing this complaint to draw the CFPBs attention to the unfair and deceptive practices of Capital One in connection with its Capital One 360 Savings Accounts and request that I be made whole for the lost interest that I would have earned had Capital One not engaged in these practices. I have held multiple high-interest savings accounts with Capital One for more than a decade. All were opened as high-interest savings accounts under XXXX XXXX and transferred to Capital One 360 Savings Accounts when Capital One acquired XXXX XXXX. Interest rates on those accounts adjusted as interest rates declined after the acquisition. In XXXX, Capital One created a new variable rate savings account product with a similar name, Capital One 360 Performance Savings Account, and no longer offered Capital One 360 Savings Accounts to new customers. Capital One 360 Performance Savings Accounts were the only variable savings accounts advertised by Capital One starting in XXXX. As interest rates rose over the past few years, the interest rates on Capital One 360 Savings Accounts were not adjusted. In contrast, Capital One 360 Performance Savings Accounts were adjusted and widely advertised as having competitive rates. Because of the similar name and the fact that the Capital One 360 Performance Savings Accounts were the only variable savings accounts on the banks website, Capital One deceived me and other longstanding depositors with Capital One 360 Savings Accounts who reasonably thought that they were benefiting from the high-yield variable rates advertised by Capital One. Capital One also was unfair to its longstanding depositors because the material difference in the interest rate offered on existing savings accounts was not adequately communicated to existing savings account holders. As recently as XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted Capital One customer service to consolidate some of my Capital One 360 Savings Accounts. I now know that, at the time, my Capital One 360 Savings Account was paying only 0.30 % interest while the Capital One 360 Performance Savings Accounts were paying 4.3 % interest. I was not informed that the rate on Capital One 360 Savings Accounts was no longer being adjusted, that the accounts were not being offered anymore to customers, or that there was a similar savings account with a much higher interest rate that any reasonable person would have converted their account to. I was made aware of this issue yesterday from a newspaper article about a potential class action lawsuit. I called Capital One, transferred my money to Capital One 360 Performance Savings Accounts, and filed a complaint. The unfair and deceptive practices of Capital One have cost me and others substantial interest over an extended period of time. Furthermore, these practices are ongoing for those who still do not realize that Capital One pulled a bait and switch on their savings accounts. I request that I be made whole by adjusting the interest rate on my Capital One 36 0 Savings Account retroactively to be what was advertised for Capital Ones variable rate savings account ( i.e., to be paid the interest that I would have earned had my account been converted to a Capital One 360 Performance Savings Account when Capital One 360 Savings Accounts were no longer advertised to new customers ).

I felt discriminated upon for always being denied and dismissed from their employees and never considered as a customer.

Consumer Complaint: Capital One let me have a {$200.00} secured credit card. This means its my money that is being used for the collateral. Capital One isnt losing anything out of this arrangement. I lost my job and couldnt get through to make arrangements when I lost my job. That part is on me. When I received the total they charged me for late fees that exceeded {$150.00}. So they charged me for using my own money as credit. I can accept that. I wont accept paying that balance plus my deposit being taken and they still think I owe them late fees. I disputed it with the credit bureaus and showed proof of my payment. The final balance was {$350.00}. My original {$200.00} plus I paid another {$150.00}. That payed it in full. They are still reporting a late fee on a closed account. They closed the account. I wont pay the {$49.00} they claim I owe them.
