Consumer Complaint: I recently was offered an upgrade from Capital One they would upgrade my Quicksilver One card to the Venture One card. I upgraded to the Venture One card because it offered no annual fee which was a change from the Quicksilver which had a {$39.00} annual fee. I was not aware the fee for the Quicksilver one was charging right as the upgrade was happening because the new statement was not available. I called Capital One on XXXX to request them to waive the fee because it wasn't really fair to charge a fee for a card that just switched. They were very dismissive and immediately balked at my request and said it was not even an option. The first representative XXXX immediately dismissed my request without explanation so I requested a supervisor, I was connected with supervisor XXXX who barely listened to the situation and immediately told me there was nothing they can do. I asked for XXXXXXXX XXXX supervisor and she dismissed me and said her supervisor doesn't talk to customers. She told me I could try to call back to the XXXX number again and ask for a different supervisor. I found this to be completely unacceptable. All I would like is the {$39.00} fee waived. I have been a long time Capital One customer and am always in good standing with them. I feel like a one time courtesy fee reversal is not an outrageous request especially for a long time customer. I could understand if the annual fee was charged 6 months ago, but it was literally within XXXX days of the card change. Also, I don't feel as though XXXX or XXXX were sincere and wouldn't even listen to the request- they just immediately said no and immediately said it is against policy.

Consumer Complaint: I recently opened a Capital One 360 XXXX XXXX account to take advantage of the high interest rate and benefits. I had no problem opening the account online ( it took about XXXX minutes ) and have since then transferred {$2500.00} into that account to get things started. The online application provided the option to list my wife as a beneficiary, but did not provide any option to add her as a joint account holder. The site suggested this can be done online by forwarding an email invite to my wife to be added as a joint account holder. My wife received the email and clicked on the provided link to continue the application, which asked detailed but necessary questions re SS number, income, employment status, etc. During a call with CapOne we were told that my application was okay but my wife was identified as a security risk and was declined. They declined to provide reasons for the decision or definitions related to the term 'risk '. My wife and I have pristine credit records, so I assume their AI applied some kind of bias against her age, gender, employment status ( retired ) or whatever. I feel this is discriminatory and we have the right to know know why she was declined- especially since we both have pristine credit records. The CapOne agent repeatedly declined giving any reason for the denial, except to say that giving a reason would compromise their security protocols ( which leads me to believe the decision was driven by a biased AI algorithm. Information related to the the denial should also be released to my wife since it relates to personal info collected by Capital One, and ownership of that data is most likely protected under existing XXXX requirements and other laws related to personal information regulations since Cap One is an international entity.

Consumer Complaint: Capitol one approved me for a XXXX dollar cc I have never had one and wanted to build credit I have a 700 plus credit score and no collections or late pays. 4 days after receiving card I had made 3 purchases then they restricted my card without any notice I called emailed wrote everyday and they could not give me a valid reason for this they said it was flagged but that's not possible I had card 4 days they will not provide me any reason and won't lift restriction I've already made a pymt on time. They have reported it to credit agencies as an open acct I can not get another card because this one 's still showing open I am now going to become delinquent because they restricted my card with no valid reason or notice
