Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Delay in processing application
Consumer Complaint: I was solicited by CapitalOne with whom I have had a multi-year banking relationship for a CapitalOne credit card. I applied for the card, and received a notice asking that I submit a copy of my photoid. They provided a web-site address where the image of the photo-if ( front and back ) could be submitted. I made the submission. I did not hear back from them, though their web-site acknowledged that I had submitted information. When I called to enquire I was told that the format in which I had submitted the photo ID copy was not correct. I asked for a description of what was required -- the agent said that he was not allowed to provide me with that information. I requested that they send me a letter to that effect and he said that was also not possible. I asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor said that I needed to use a smartphone to send a copy of my photo ID. I asked the supervisor to provide a letter to that effect. He said that he could not. I then asked when I would be informed that they information which I provided was not adequate. He checked with some department and then told me that they would not be sending me any details saying that what I provided was not adequate but that they would simply wait for the response period to end and then deny my application because I had not provided the requested information. All of this was communicated on a recorded line. I asked for a further escalation and was told that this would not be possible. I then asked the agent if I could record him stating that their intention was to not inform me in writing that the information I provided was inadequate. He told me that I could not record the call -- even though Capital One was recording the call. We ended the call.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 and again XX/XX/2023 I called Capital One regarding my 2 credit cards about the hardship program. I spoke with XXXX ( ID # XXXX ) about the BAP program and enrolled. At that time he stated they would no longer be reporting my payments late and would remove the late payments from all 3 credit reports as of that date. This has not happened and I was lied too by the customer service representative. Not only did they fix the previous late payment reporting, they reported the payments that I did make as late as well. Now my credit reports ( all 3 ) are showing that I am 90 to 119 days late or 60 to 89 days late. I would not have entered into this program had the customer service rep lied to me about the outcome and what Capital One was willing to do. I simply was trying to get back on my feet after a temporary job loss and they preyed on my niativity.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX XXXX I was denied an extension of credit by Capital One Bank when I applied for a Capital One credit card. As you may be aware, it is against federal law in accordance with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act to proclaim an adverse action against a consumer. Pursuant to 15 U.S Code 1691c you assume civil liability pursuant to 15 U.S Code 1691e. Capital One Bank violated my federally protected consumer rights. Treating me less favorable than other applicants for any reason is discrimination. Pursuant 15 USC 1691a ( d ) It is my right to be granted credit by Capital One Bank. 1 ) 15 USC 1691 2 ) 12 CFR 1002 Since the letter sent to me dated XX/XX/2023 is both proof and evidence that I have been discriminated against, you are also criminally liable. There is no statute of limitation on fraud. Capital One Bank should consider resorting to reasonable procedures to rectify this affair and compensate me for the use of my securities. Otherwise, this would be considered securities fraud since I have received NO BENEFIT from my tender of collateral. Following this initial attempt to rectify, I will be sending an invoice to collect actual damages for said violations.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to formally dispute the inaccurate information regarding late payments on my credit report. After a recent review of my credit history, I discovered discrepancies that do not accurately reflect my payment behavior. Specifically, the late payment information associated with the following account : CAPITAL ONE XXXX XXXXXXXX Those payments were made on time. I am requesting that the late payment markings be updated to reflect my accurate payment history. CAPITAL ONE XXXX -Those payments were made on time. I am requesting that the late payment markings be updated to reflect my accurate payment history. CAPITAL ONE XXXX -Those payments were made on time. I am requesting that the late payment markings be updated to reflect my accurate payment history. I have always been a responsible and diligent payer, and any instances of delayed payments have been promptly settled upon discovery. It is disheartening to see that my credit report is currently reflecting late payment information that is not representative of my true creditworthiness. I kindly request a thorough investigation into the accuracy of the late payment information associated with the mentioned account. I believe that there may have been an error in reporting, and I am confident that a closer examination will reveal my consistent track record of timely payments.
