Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I have received a phone call from Commenity Bank every day and they have filled my inbox with voicemails stating my issue has reached an escalated status over the last few months despite when I mailed them and requested specifically written communication exclusively. I requested a copy of the last billing statement from the original creditor, proof of a debt I owe, copies of purchase orders/delivery slips/etc., any late fees that were incurred, and the license number and holder name for the debt collection company. I only received printed pages from the original creditors website with the total amount owed. I've called the company and informed them I've been a victim of identity theft and this account is fraudulent and they have taken no actions to assist in any investigation or dispute. I'm now filing this complaint per the suggestion of my lawyer.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted a single payment of {$2000.00} to my Comenity NFL credit card from a bank account earmarked for this card carrying only a balance required to pay this card. Approximately a week after submitting this single payment, I logged into my account and saw that a duplicate payment was submitted on this card despite only submitting a single payment. I received only a single confirmation payment email, however, my payment was processed twice. Due to this duplicate payment from the system error, I was assessed a fee of {$30.00} for a returned check card and {$2.00} of interest. I have attempted to contact Comenity to resolve this issue however I have not been able to resolve this issue.

Consumer Complaint: I tried XXXX times to make a payment on time on my XXXX BankXXXX account. I was unable to. I was at work and didn't have time to keep on trying or to contact the company. I work in a very busy job and we've been shorthanded. I was finally able to get on and change my password. I paid the balance in full. When I got my statement a few days later I noticed they had added a late fee. I also noticed that it had another name on my address ( XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX that I had never heard of before. When I called the company, they said this name was added on XX/XX/XXXX. I did not add it. Apparently my account has been hacked and that is why I was unable to get on to make a payment. It took several attempts to get the password changed. Whoever hacked it must've change the password and it's not fair that I have to pay a late fee of XXXX when I attempted to pay on time but because my account was hacked I was unable to pay on time or to fix the problem while I was at work.

Consumer Complaint: Bill originally showed up as Comenity Bank, with no other information as proof of my actual purchase through XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Once I was able to confirm where the purchase was made, I confirmed with XXXX XXXX that they could release the funds. XXXX XXXX has confirmed that they did so & Comenity has not been able to locate the payment. They requested proof of payment in 3 different way, at 3 different times. They do not accept electronic communications so they only way to send anything to them it through the mail. Registered/signature reqt 's mail is not allowed. Every time they have requested one manner of proof, I send it. They then say that they have never received the former requested material and that in any case, that particulare material that they had previously reqtd as proof is not acceptable. I had a 3 way call between myself, XXXX XXXX & Comenity which resulted in them saying they would send me a form to my email that should finalize the problem. I rec 'd the email, but the link did not work. After 6 months of trying to deal with them, at least a dozen hours on the phone, 3 mailings of requested information and more hang-ups ( when they say that they are transferring me to someone more senior ) from them that I can count. I feel that I have exhausted all options at this point & have even had one of their supposed managers tell me that I might want to get an attorney. They continue to call me multiple times a week & my bill has more than triple, which is of course affecting my credit score. Can this office help with this problem?
