Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I have an account with Comenity bank, which is a store card for Zales. I have two promotional balances on this account currently and have faithfully paid on time and well over the minimum required balance. Unfortunately, Comenity continues to split the payments between the two balances instead of applying the payments toward the promotional balance that ends on XX/XX/XXXX. I called last week to ask why this is and got an explanation of their policy and the agent admitted that the payment allocation does follow the policy. On that call, I confirmed the remaining balance for that promotion was {$85.00}. I made a one time payment on that call for the amount of {$85.00}, which I was told would pay off that promotional plan. I also had another scheduled payment after that for XXXX posted on XX/XX/XXXX. I called today, XX/XX/XXXX and was told there is still an XXXX balance on the promo ending on XX/XX/XXXX. The rep, XXXX XXXX, stated I will find out how my last two payments were applied on my next statement. She refused to provide confirmation in writing that they applied the payment to the promo ending on XX/XX/XXXX. She also refused to provide a physical address for Comenity Bank so that I could send a XXXX request for information. Of the {$75.00} paid on XX/XX/XXXX, only XXXX was applied to the promo ending on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX was applied to the promo ending on XX/XX/XXXX. Payment made on XX/XX/XXXX for {$75.00} was applied as XXXX toward the promo ending on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX applied to the promo ending on XX/XX/XXXX Both of the statements with the above payment applications warn me to pay off my promo balance soon but fail to provide me a way to do so. The reality is, both of those {$75.00} payments should have more than paid off the remaining promo balance that ends on XX/XX/XXXX. I have attached the statements showing how these payments were applied.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I had a Victoria secret/comenity credit card for 6yrs 3 months. Never a late fee. In fact they were sending me checks where I over paid them. My limit was XXXX. I used my card for XXXX. I paid XXXX XX/XX/XXXX inside the store on my card balance. Which brought me to zero. They then was charging me for not using the card. Lowered my limit to XXXX and eventually closed my account. Stating charge off as bad debt and purchased by another lender. They then sold my account to collection agencies and I have disputed over and over for yrs. I'm tired of going through this with them. I had 2 collection agencies on my credit at the same time. Victoria secret is saying I owed XXXX Bucks. This is not correct. I paid my bill and they should not be able to get away with charging people fees for not using their card. That's not fair at all. XXXX XXXX has had my account since XX/XX/XXXX. They continue to send me statement saying I owe this bill. I refuse to pay for something I did NOT charge. Please help me stop these collections and credit my credit reports.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Consumer Complaint: Comenity Bank contacted me on XXXX at XXXX XXXX regarding a debt in the name of my mother-in-law. I informed them that they had the wrong number and agreed to pass on a message, but to not contact me again. I then received a 2nd call on XXXX at XXXX XXXX regarding the same debt. I told them that they had the wrong number and to stop calling me. They had no record of speaking to me before. I asked for the caller 's name for my own notes incase they called again and was refused. I was passed to a supervisor and when I asked him for his name, he hung up the phone. A Debt Collector refusing to provide their name and information, and consistently calling the wrong number is in clear violation of the Consumer Protection Act.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Unexpected increase in interest rate
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a complaint against Comenity Bank for engaging in predatory lending practices. In XX/XX/, I made a jewelry purchase at a store where I was coerced by the sales representative to sign up for a credit account with Comenity Bank. The sales representative promised me a XXXX interest-free financing plan for the purchase, which I agreed to and signed the contract. However, I recently found out that interest started accruing after XXXX months of financing, which has resulted in me owing XXXX times the original amount that I borrowed. This is an utterly unacceptable practice, and I am in a state of shock that Comenity Bank has been allowed to engage in such practices. I strongly believe that the sales representative from the jewelry store deliberately misled me into signing up for the credit account by misrepresenting the terms of the financing plan. I had no idea that interest would start accruing before the XXXX period was over. I request that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ) investigates this matter and takes appropriate action against Comenity Bank and the jewelry store for engaging in predatory lending practices. Additionally, I request that Comenity Bank rectifies this situation and reverses any accrued interest and fees that were wrongly applied to my account. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to hearing back from you regarding the steps that will be taken to rectify this situation. Sincerely,

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: This account was paid off by my credit union with an overpayment of {$900.00}. The claimed to have sent me 3 refund checks which I received 2. One which they issued a stop payment against which came after I contacted then and I have it in my personal possession and the other one I cashed. I have been trying to resolve this since XX/XX/2022. I received a dispute letter from them XX/XX/2022 saying they'd get back to me in 90 days and I've heard nothing and I've called and have all of the documentation to support my claim. They have been reporting me to the credit union as late and non payment and my credit score has dropped tremendously. Everytime I call I get rerouted and they say they are going to take care of it and they don't. They have ruined my credit. Please get them to do something about this and correct my credit as they have ruined it.
