Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Account opened without my consent or knowledge
Consumer Complaint: In early 2023 I received an email from Bank of America notifying me of my new Bank of America account. I contacted them to close it as I didnt open an account with them. I also told them I was a victim of identity theft and asked them to not open accounts online with my info. They told me they found it to be fraud and closed it. Stated the IP address used to open the account was totally different than the info in my credit report. Months later, in XX/XX/2023, I received 2 more emails from them about opening my new account 1 with Bank of America another with their subsidiary XXXX XXXX. I asked them to close them as theyre not mine. I also asked how did this happen again since I reported the previous account, notified them I was a victim of identity theft and asked them not to open any accounts with my info and they found the previous account to be fraud. They could not provide me with an adequate response.

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low
Subissue: Non-sufficient funds and associated fees
Consumer Complaint: Who can claim compensation? Anyone who has a Bank of America consumer checking and/or savings account and incurred repeated fees as described on the class action settlement website can claim part of the settlement funds, provided that the transactions occurred between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I am a member of the class action suit where I did have an account during the identified period. Thus, fraudulent activity conducted by Bank of America was perpetrated on me with regards to the account listed below. I paid Bank of America all the fees and restitutions that were requested of me back in XX/XX/XXXX before knowing that Bank of America had fraudulently charged me fees on my account. I am simply requesting that this account be removed from XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX as soon as possible. I am a victim of fraud at the hands of Bank of America and also a victim of the XXXX XXXX XXXX. This is causing me harm and preventing me from opening another bank account. Bank of America claims my account had " FRAUD ACTIVITY '' just as " FRAUD ACTIVITY '' by Bank of America on me. Change account status to " CLOSE '' with no fraud or remove the data from XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX. Account ending in XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I paid a total of {$4300.00} in XXXX of 2023 to pay my Bank of America card off in full, and this amount was confirmed by a Bank of America agent. In XXXX of 2023, I received a statement from Bank of America for {$83.00}, I called to advise this account was paid in full, and I was advised this was interest. I requested and the agent agreed to waive the fee, I was under the impression all had been resolved until I received a 30-late notice from all of my credit bureaus. I have never had a credit card company bill for interest after the card has been paid in full. I was so disappointed with Bank of America that I paid the fee and closed my account. I am also pulling all of my accounts and investments. Account # XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: My husband died last year ( XX/XX/22 ) from a long term series of health issues. He was XXXX. When he first purchased our home, he was the only name on the mortgage and later the HELOC he took out to do many home improvements. I was added to the mortgage a few years later and then after he fell ill, he borrowed money from the HELOC again, taking it back up to the original XXXX limit. It had been paid down to around XXXX at that time. The paperwork for this second HELOC withdraw was done while he was in the hospital, I was added to the paperwork at that time. And I did sign it. I was also told earlier that day that my husband needed XXXX XXXX from a XXXX XXXX he was fighting and that I needed to call family and friends. I was not aware of the terms of this loan, and at the time the interest rates were affordable and we could pay more than the minimum. He ended up in a XXXX XXXX for a month, he held on for maybe another 5 yrs. He died in our home in front of me from XXXX XXXX XXXX. He left me with no life insurance or any sort of investments or retirement fund. I am XXXX and spent most of the last 30 yrs being a full time mom to an adult on the XXXXXXXX XXXX who is now an independent and amazing adult. Working outside the home would have been impossible while our son was growing up. I was and still am his advocate, its a full time job and it doesn't pay well at all. Since my husband passed the interest rates have skyrocketed to close to 11 % and the payments have doubled. Only XXXX dollars of the XXXX dollar minimum payment goes toward the actual loan/line of credit. How is this allowed? How is this right? and do I have any options at all? My actual mortgage has a balance of around XXXX and I will have that paid off in less than 9 yrs. This HELOC has around a XXXX balance and it won't be even close to paid off for 20 years. What can I do to get help? I just want lower payments, not a free ride. I hope you can help me. Thank you for your time.

Consumer Complaint: My cc is with bank of America however the issue seems to be with VISA. Every month I am getting a recurring charge for {$29.00} from a company that changes it name. Mostly it goes by : XXXX. Atleast 4 times BofA has declined the charge. They missed it once but I caught it and complained. In all those cases they have stopped my card and issued a new one with a new number. Each month this fraudulant company somehow gets the new number from Visa and makes a charge for {$29.00}. I am not the only one. There is a website people have been using to complain about it for over a year. I have contacted VISA and asked the to protect my information nothing is happening and it happened again today. Here is a link to that site : https : XXXX
