Consumer Complaint: I discovered I had been the victim of identity fraud. Someone had used my personal information to fraudulently open several credit accounts and services. I obtained a copy of my credit reports and discovered an American Express Card opened on XX/XX/2016, had been one of the fraudulent accounts. I called and sent letters to American Express to inform them of the fraudulent account. Additionally, I informed American Express a fraudulent bankruptcy petition had been fraudulently filed to cover up the identity fraud. I also requested a copy of the fraudulent application for a police report. American Express would not send a copy of the fraudulent application. American Express said the information on the application matched my information so the account was mine and I needed to pay the balance.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to express my immense frustration and disappointment with the customer service provided by American Express in relation to my Hilton Honors Credit Card, which includes the XXXX XXXX benefit. I have encountered a critical technical issue with the registration of my XXXX XXXX, and despite opening four separate cases with Amex in the last five weeks, I have yet to receive a satisfactory resolution to this matter. The first case was initiated on XX/XX/XXXX ( case number XXXX and XXXX ), and I was initially told that it typically takes 7-10 days to resolve such issues. However, it has now been well over 5 weeks, and I have not received any updates or progress reports from Amex regarding the status of my case. This is not only unacceptable but also extremely inconvenient for me, as I rely on the benefits associated with my Hilton Honors Credit Card, including the XXXX XXXX. When I called Amex seeking assistance, I was met with further frustration. The customer service representatives could not provide me with a specific timeframe for when the issue would be resolved. I was simply told to wait, which is not an acceptable response, given the extended time it has taken to address my problem. Furthermore, there was no offer of any alternative solution or workaround to mitigate the inconvenience I am experiencing.

Consumer Complaint: I received an offer from American Express for a pre approval I applied for the card and it was declined. When I checked the reason it was an error page with no explanation. Also when I was logged on I noticed 3 previous applications that were declined. From XX/XX/2023 to present. I recognize 2 of the applications in XX/XX/2023 and XX/XX/2023. The others were not authorized by me. The offers were deceptive and misleading when it applies to good credit and your score. My score is over XXXX with Good credit .When I read one email from them without the error. It stated that my denial was because I had collections and inquiries and it didnt make since because at that time that was not correct. And the rep I spoke to completely Bias and I was XXXX to get a denial by her tone with me telling me people like me dont get approved often only middle aged white individuals and that I have audacity inquiring about a card with there company when I was sent the offer. The unprofessionalism was real and she hung up on me when I asked to speak to her supervisor and would not give me her name,

Consumer Complaint: I received a {$1000.00} American Express gift card from my work. I was thrilled for this, because it seemed like it would be convenient, but I am now realizing that Amex gift cards barely work online. I can not make purchases online. I have been trying to spend {$130.00} of my {$1000.00} balance on XXXX since yesterday and I keep getting declined. I tried on XXXX and had a similar problem. Attaching a photo of my emails saying my payment keeps getting declined. I have checked the card numbers, I have removed the card and readded it, I have verified it through Amex, etc. To no avail. I dont know how Im going to buy my gifts for the holidays since my plan was to use this card for all purchases online because I dont have a physical card to use in person. Upon doing my research, this seems to be a common problem people have. I cant believe it hasnt been resolved.

Consumer Complaint: I have attempted to make multiple purchases at eligible US based retailers that continue to be declined even though I have a sufficient balance. This has been an ongoing issue where I have to make many attempts and the order will sometimes go through. - XXXX order on XX/XX/XXXX for {$100.00} - XXXX order on XX/XX/23 for {$210.00} The AMEX customer service representative submitted a payment authorization and told me to wait 24 hours to attempt the XXXX order again but this is very inconvenient and I am not hopeful the issue will be resolved. I also expect this to continue to happen with other merchants.

Consumer Complaint: I have been a card member for almost 20 years of American Express. In XXXX 2023 I requested a heads start miles advance on two American Express Delta cards that I have. One a Delta Reserve and the Other a Delta Platinum. Both Amex cards. These advance skymiles were to be paid back over the next 6 month period initiated by Amex. Over the course of the 6 months I noticed that Amex did not take all the points that were advanced to me and made XXXX aware as I did not want any issues in being charged back for the miles borrowed and not repaid. This is at which time I was told by a Amex representative that unfortunately the balance of the miles needing to be repaid had to be earned specifically and paid back by each card and couldnt be used in combination. So even though I had more than enough delta sky miles to pay Amex back from purchases on there cards they would not take my miles from a combination of both cards. This is a matter of pure semantics. No consumer would know that they had to use a specific american express card to pay back miles to a specific card only for specifically the amount borrowed on that one card. They are BOTH AMERICAN EXPRESS DELTA CARDS. Money spent on American express, the same card issuer with the same partner XXXX. Now they want to charge me over {$3800.00} to repay them for miles that have been in my account for 6 months, available to them to withdraw, and further will not allow me to dispute the charge. This should not be legal and frivolous acts by creditor. They are saying I owe them approx XXXX miles when I have had over XXXX miles in my account available for withdraw within the 6 month payback period. I have called in at least 6 times on record to escalate the matter to executive office of which there is zero phone number they will give you to handle such matters and totally unacceptable. I will also be reporting this to the banking commission. I spend a XXXX XXXX dollars a year on my American express cards and this is absurd the amount of time this has taken me to get this situation resolved.

Consumer Complaint: I received a {$300.00} American Express gift card. I activated it as instructed. I have tried to use the card with several different merchants both online and in person and each transaction has been declined. I have even attempted to make a {$10.00} purchase on my {$300.00} balance with a merchant that accepts American Express gift cards and it was declined. I have {$300.00} and no way to use the funds. I would like my money. I have tried to reach customer service and I only get an automated message that says that I may have tried to purchase above my balance. It does not give me the option to speak with a representative.

There seems to be an error as that would be in contradiction of 12 CFR 1002.2 ( l ), which defines a creditor as... the term does not include a person whose only participation in a credit transaction involves honoring a credit card. 12 CFR 1002.2 ( k ) defines a credit card as meaning any card, plate, coupon book, or other single credit device that may be used from time to time to obtain money, property, or services on credit. The credit card that was to be honored in said transaction is the Social Security Card, specifically the account numbers placed on the electronic credit application. If there is any presumption that the said Social Security Card/Account is not used to obtain money, property, or services on credit see 26 CFR 301.7701-11 as security is defined within the meaning of this regulation in reference to the social security number as ... or warrant or right to subscribe to or purchase, any of the foregoing ; negotiable instrument ; or money. - ( Source : 26 CFR 301.6323 ( h ) -1 ). Pursuant to Prospectus Report Consumer Financial Products Regulation The relationship of the consumer and the provider of consumer credit is extensively regulated by federal and state consumer protection laws. Offers are made to existing Card Members and to non-Card Members. As the listed Sponsor in the previously referenced SEC filing the duties of a sponsor are organizing and initiating a securitization transaction by selling or transferring assets, either direct or indirectly, including through an affiliate, to the issuing entity.
