Issue: Getting a credit card

Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX, XXXX in representation for XXXX XXXX and Ive been in an attempt to extend credit to American Express Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/2023 and then again on XX/XX/2023 for XXXX credit card accounts. The bank address is XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, NY XXXX. Ive contacted the Chief Financial Officer of American Express XXXX XXXX XXXX via certified mail XXXX times ( XXXX ) explaining that according to the Federal Reserve Act Section 16. Note Issues, # 2 Application for note by Federal Reserve banks. My application I gave the bank with my social security number turned that application into a security collateral and Im owed equity and I can not be denied my extension of my own credit. I sent instructions to the CFO to transfer the credits of the principal balance to the principals account and to open the account. I have not heard any response from the CFO to settle the matter in good faith. Pursuant to Federal Reserve Act Section 29 Civil Money Penalty ( e ) Assessment ; any penalty imposed under subsection ( a ), ( b ), or ( c ) shall be assessed and collected in the case of a national bank, by the Comptroller of the Currency. I have all of my evidence in the attachments below for verification of facts.

Consumer Complaint: In late XX/XX/2023 I set up a transfer from my American Express XXXX account to my XXXX XXXX account using the XXXX phone app. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX deposits were made into my XXXX XXXX account, XXXX for XXXX cents and XXXX for XXXX cents. That shows that American Express did in fact have the correct XXXX XXXX account. I then went back into the XXXX XXXX and verified those amounts and then transfered {$810.00} from the American Express XXXX account to my XXXX XXXX account. The money was taken from the American Express account immediately. XXXX days later American Express says that the transfer occured ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and that it would take XXXX business days for the money to show up in my XXXX XXXX account XXXX As of today it has been nearly XXXX weeks and the money has not been deposited into my bank account. I have repeatedly called the American Express XXXX number and have talked to several people there. I have been repeatedly told by them that the transaction is complete, the money is no longer in my account and to call XXXX XXXX. I have spoken with XXXX XXXX several times as well. They continually tell me that because they can't see anything comming through the XXXX system that they can't do anything and to call American Express XXXX I was able to get XXXX XXXX to open an inquiry into this but I just got a letter from them ( XX/XX/XXXX ) saying that they can't do anything and to call American Express. You can see that I have become extremly frustrated with each side saying to contact the other. I have copies of the letters from XXXX XXXX, a copy of the XX/XX/2023 American Express XXXX statement showing the withdrawl of {$810.00} and a copy of my XX/XX/2023 statement showing the XXXX test deposits of XXXX and XXXX cents. I won't attach these due to them having personal information on them but if you do require them please ask.

Consumer Complaint: My wife and I were bumped from an international XXXX flight XXXX XXXX weekend, 2023. We were promised {$2000.00} in compensation. Turns out the compensation is in the form of gift cards only. Thinking them the safest and most easily used, I selected {$1000.00} of that amount to be in the form of American Express gift cards... they were available only in {$200.00} increments. Which means I have XXXX of them to use. I activated them as instructed. Since that time I have tried using them on multiple websites and they continually decline for no apparent reason : XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, etc. The customer service number on the card takes you to an automated system only, with no human available to explain why the cards continually decline. They are set to expire at the end of XXXX and I have NO recourse. I will lose the {$1000.00} since I am not able to find any company who is able to process them.

Consumer Complaint: Applied for personal loan with American Express on XXXX to consolidate some credit card debt. Terms {$5000.00} for 36 months, minimum payment is {$180.00} per month, first payment due on XXXX. I set up payments from my bank account for {$100.00} on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX totaling {$200.00} which should arrive before the monthly due date of the XXXX. First payment of {$100.00} was delivered XXXX, second payment of {$100.00} delivered XXXX, totaling {$200.00} paid before the due date of XX/XX/XXXX. When I checked my XXXX statement there was a {$39.00} late fee. Contacted customer service via chat on XX/XX/31 and spoke to someone named XXXX who claimed they were going to waive the fee. Made an additional payment of {$80.00} on XX/XX/31 to bring account to current, and made normal payments of {$100.00} payments on the XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX. Checked my XXXX statement and there was another {$39.00} late fee. Attempted to contact customer service again on XX/XX/XXXX but department was closed on the weekend. As of todays date XXXX the first {$39.00} fee has not been refunded.

Consumer Complaint: Received a {$100.00} pre-paid American Express credit card as a bonus from my employer ( which I am being taxed for ) on Monday, XX/XX/23. I attempted to purchase a {$99.00} order from Amazon that same day using the card. On XX/XX/23, a {$0.00} transaction from Amazon was made on the card which is still there on the American Express website, but on XX/XX/23 I received an email from Amazon saying the purchase was declined. I then attempted to make a {$95.00} purchase on Amazon to load my account 's gift card balance but that also was declined. There are no transaction logs or any other information on Amex 's website to indicate why the transactions were declined, and all transaction amounts were lower than the available balance on the card. Lastly, I tried to link the Amex card to my Paypal account and it did not even allow me to link it. At this time, my balance is still {$99.00} due to the {$0.00} transaction for a purchase that was ultimately declined.

Consumer Complaint: This complaint is a continuum of complaint number XXXX. For the statement cycle from XXXX to XXXX of XXXX, American Express requested that payment for that statement be made by XX/XX/2023, a Saturday. I realized on Sunday, XX/XX/XXXX, that I could not make a payment from my account as it would post late and at least one business day after the due date. As a result, I submitted an internal payment request via my Amex account on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, American Express assessed a late fee. I contacted the customer service line via telephone and asked for the fee to be waived. Per the representative, I have had two courtesy waivers and the " system would not allow him to waive it. '' I was unable to have the fee reimbursed. This act reflects a potential violation of the Federal Trade Commission Act, Section 5. In truth-in-lending, a consumer is permitted to make a payment on the following business day if a payment date falls on a date in which the financial institution does not accept payments. In this instance, since Saturday, XX/XX/XXXX is the payment date and a date in which American Express does not accept payments, I should have been allowed to submit my payment the following Monday, XX/XX/XXXX, without incurring a late fee. I am requesting that American Express conduct a seven-year review of my account. In any instance that I was assessed a late fee for a payment due on a non-business day, but payment was received the following business day, those late fees be reimbursed. I am also requesting that the CFPB conduct a review of this process throughout the bank to assist consumers who may have been impacted by this technicality.

Consumer Complaint: I tried to use my AMEX GIFT CARD at XXXX in person, online, at XXXX on line, XXXX XXXX on line, and XXXX, each retailer declined the card. Called AMEX 3 times, asked for a supervisor because the custmer service rep could not help me, was put on hold for 20+ min each time, called back same thing. No one can tell me why the card keeps getting decline, every time there was a different answer and when I questioned it they had no response. I have one card fro {$160.00} and one for {$220.00} that are useless.
