Consumer Complaint: I took out a personal loan from American Express at the end of XX/XX/2023. The monthly payments as indicated on the Truth in Lending disclosure are {$620.00}. My first payment was due on XX/XX/XXXX, and the amount indicated on the bill was {$790.00}. I contacted Amex twice in XXXX about the discrepancy. They indicated they were aware and would resolve it, and to pay the amount indicated on the truth in lending disclosure by the due date. They would resolve it and I would not be liable for any late fees. I made the payment for {$620.00} on XX/XX/XXXX as required. I have a late fee on my account of {$39.00} as well. I called Amex again this evening, and they still tell me they are aware of it and it will be resolved, but I have very little confidence in this. At this point, I am concerned about my account being reported as delinquent / late to the credit reporting agencies. I have called Amex XXXX times in XXXX weeks, each time being assured that they would resolve this discrepancy but there has been no progress. They are billing me more than agreed upon in the Truth in Lending statement and not offering a timely resolution. Thanks.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I purchased a bunch of tickets from XXXX XXXX using my Amex platinum card for friends of mine I decided to treat. The airline cancelled my tickets out of the blue as they claim since I used same credit card for different passengers it must be Im re selling the tickets, which is totally not true and ridiculous to claim! Hence I paid close to {$10000.00} in XXXX for a product, the product in this case airline tickets. The airline refuses to give my money back and has only gave back the taxes. They claim the ticket was non refundable. The crazy part is I did not refund the ticket! Rather I paid for a product I didnt receive! In essence I was XXXX in broad XXXX of close to {$10000.00}. They took my money and didnt give me the product!!! American Express doesnt even read the response from the merchant and keeps closing the dispute. First the merchant sent the wrong section of their terms and conditions. But Amex didnt even have the decency to read through them, rather when the powerful merchant responded they closed the case on their weak consumer! I had to tell them they didnt even read the response. Further Amex is not helping me as they claim a merchant can put anything they want in their terms and conditions even if illegal and down right stealing! Essentially Amex only helps in disputes if the merchant agrees it was an error and they dont really care about their clients! I have begged for a live person to review this case. I even sent a letter to their headquarters with no avail! For a company that prides it self on service and that charges a pretty XXXX for it, example my card costs me {$590.00} a year this is an embarrassment! I cant get anyone competent on the phone and this XXXX misjustice and straight out fraud is not something they care about much!

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: 1, the consumer and natural person, was denied credit by American Express when I applied for a credit card. Adverse action against a consumer is against the law according to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act which is codified in 15 U.S.C 1691 ( a ) ( 3 ) and 15 U.S.C 1691 ( c ) and is pursuant to civil liability under 15 U.S.C 1692 ( k ). You are subject to criminal liability for violating 15 U.S.C 1691 as I have proof that I was discriminated against by the American Express due to the response I received. American Express is in violation of 15 U.S.C 1642, U.S.C 1681 ( m ) and 12 CFR 1002 because I, the consumer, made an application in good faith, but credit was not issued. Furthermore, because my securities were used and I received no benefit. This is proof of fraudulent activity and securities fraud on behalf of American Express. If American Express fails to make any reasonable procedures to resolve this matter and compensate me for the use of my credit card I will indeed make American Express criminally and civilly liable for all actual damages pursuant to 15 U.S.C 1681 ( n ) and 15 U.S.C 1681 ( o ). I am sending this letter because American Express accepted my credit application but denied me credit. I will also follow up with an invoice for said violations ( { {$10000.00} } ) per violation

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Problem with fees
Consumer Complaint: As an American Express card holder in good standing for over 25 years, I am highly disapointed in thier lack of action, follow through and resolution to a extreemely minor issue which has now evolved into a situation of significance. The significance now is that due to AMEX not removing a {$29.00} late fee as agreed and promissed in XXXX, has now compounded to {$140.00} as of this date. Due to AMEX not resolving this minior issue as agreed, my credit score has droped from XXXX +/- to around XXXX. I HAD XXXX accounts with Credit limits of {$31000.00} and {$250000.00} respectivly. I have closed BOTH accounts as a result of a " {$29.00} ( XXXX ) Late Fee '' which was promissed to be waived when I first contacted AMEX. ONLY XXXX charges had been made on the account in 2023 ( {$63.00} US Postal Service & XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. AMEX Account representitive on XXXX different resolution calls that I placed told me to make payments of {$63.00} and {$59.00} which I made promptly on XX/XX/2023 and XX/XX/2023. WHY would I have made these payment of these specfic amounts if i WASNT instructed to due so by the AMEX representitives on XXXX differnt occassions to XXXX out and close the account? I have made 6 or 7 calls to AMEX, wasted hours of my time and spoken to different representitives each time only to get passed off to another without resolution. These representitives promiss follow up calls, wont provide call back numbers or case numbers and then just hope that you go away. I have been more than polite and tolerant. My last communcation on XX/XX/XXXX was promissed to be resolved by XX/XX/XXXX has prompted this request of the CFPB to become involved. I did indicate to the AMEX representitive that this would be my next step on that call. I have provided several ways for AMEX to reach out to me via my office and cell phone numbers with no promissed resolution from AMEX. Thanks in advance for your assistence. This is a matter of principle to me to have this resolved by AMEX as they have previously agreeed.

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: I requested a credit " limit '' increase on several occasions and was denied each time. However, per American Express ' XX/XX/2023 XXXX filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC ) , on page 55 section 5 : Asset Securitizations, it conspicuously states, 5. Asset Securitizations We periodically securitize Card Member loans and receivables arising from our card businesses through the transfer of those assets to securitization trusts, American Express Credit Account XXXX XXXX ( the Lending Trust ) and American Express XXXX XXXX XXXX ( the Charge Trust and together with the XXXX XXXX, the Trusts ). The Trusts then issue debt securities collateralized by the transferred assets to third-party investors. Regardless of the reason for being denied, I have the right to credit. Withholding my access to my securities is securities fraud. American Express is knowingly and willfully violating the Equal Credit Opportunity Act ( ECOA ) as well as the Consumer Credit Protection Act ( CCPA ). As an investor in American Express, I am due just compensation. I demand American Express to act in honor, and in good faith with clean hands. If American Express fails to do so, I will be forced to hold them liable to the full extent of the law and pursue legal action.
