Consumer Complaint: I opened an American Express XXXX XXXX card on XX/XX/XXXX to earn a welcome bonus of XXXX membership points after spending {$15000.00} on my card within the first 3 months. I got the card and met the minimum spending requirement. I checked with the American Express customer service team on XX/XX/XXXX to confirm that my spending requirements were completed to earn the welcome bonus. I was given a response that Treasury payment to IRS did not count towards earning welcome bonus. I chatted with American Express customer service on XX/XX/XXXX again and I requested him to open a case to his supervisor investigate my issue. The representative denied my request and said that IRS payment was not eligible for welcome bonus points, however they were eligible to earn regular membership points. IRS tax payment is XXXX of the ways, I had planned to meet minimum spending requirement on my Amex card. I do not see any specific disclosure from American express that IRS tax payment will not earn welcome bonus. This card has a hefty fee of {$690.00} and I request Amex to research the issue and help me out. Thanks, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX I called American Express to inquire about them removing a late fee that was wrongfully applied to my account. I went through their chat feature and they kept dropping me so I called them on the phone and spoke with XXXX at XXXX. I asked him the same question about why the late fee was put on there in the first place, and would he do a one time removal of the late fee. He put the request into the system and came back and said no Im sorry XXXX XXXX it cant be removed. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he put me on hold, then came back after roughly 8 minutes and said a supervisor will call me within the next 24 hours, I was charged {$55.00} for my Internet on the XXXX of XXXX. American Express charged a {$29.00} late fee on the XXXX of XXXX and my payment that I made on the XXXX through my Bank did not post to them until the XXXX of XXXX. I pay my card off each month in full. American Express is wrongfully, charging people, late fees and wont remove them, because they are being dishonest and disgraceful just like they were when they were fined back in XXXX for similar infractions

Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: My account with American Express is XXXX for XXXX, and the first payment due date is XX/XX/2023 for {$720.00}. On XX/XX/2023, I paid {$800.00} from my XXXX bank account. Please see the attachment ( It shows the amount of {$800.00}, payment sent to account XXXX, expected date delivery XX/XX/2023, biller name, payee name, payee account number, payment amount, File transaction date, payment effective date, trace number, and transaction ID ). On XX/XX/2023, American Express contacted me regarding needing to receive my payment on the due date. I then provided the above information thrice from my XXXX bank account ( XXXX ). I talked to the American Express customer service supervisor ( XXXX ) on the phone four ( 4 ) times and uploaded the above copy to the American Express account each time ( CI XXXX & CI XXXX ). As of today, XX/XX/2023, American Express still needs to provide me with an answer about what happened to the {$800.00} payment that I made on XX/XX/2023. I am concerned about the ability of the investigation department from the American Express Loan Department. I need an answer from American Express to let me know where my payment of {$800.00} is and why it was not credited to my loan account. If there is no response from American Express, I will move forward to submit it to the XXXX XXXX XXXX.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: I have been charged interest since account opening. However, the intro APR promised to me when applying was 0 % for 15 months. Upon reviewing my statements, I see I have been charged interest since account opening. I received no notification of this. This is a massive error on AMEX 's end. Solution : AMEX must refund my interest charges that were wrongfully charged for 15 months after account opening. The company made a false and un-verifiable claim that I was advised that I may not receive 0 % APR during my application process : Their claim : " During your online application you were advised based on your history with American Express welcome offers, introductory Annual Percentage Rate ( APR ) offers, or the number of cards you have opened and closed, you are not eligible to receive this welcome offer. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer, intro Annual Percentage Rate ( APRs ), and intro plan fee eligibility. This statement is a false claim, and is not factual. By doing so, they are violating the Truth in Lending Act ( TILA ). Unless the company can prove this claim, my complaint is a valid claim. I demand all interest be removed immediately.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: There were two unauthorized transactions from my account. Each one were one separate dates. On XX/XX/23 {$400.00} was taken out at an ATM at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. And the other transaction was on XX/XX/23 {$100.00} was taken out at another ATM but at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Those dates I was visiting family for XXXX XXXX weekend at XXXX, XXXX. I did get a hotel at XXXX XXXX. I thought at first my funds were low for the hotel deposits. And when I was waiting for pizza I ordered on XX/XX/23 I looked at my statements and noticed those unauthorized transactions. I called my card company and reported it. I told them I have my card with me so how was my card used at an ATM machine? I told them I only use ATMs that they suggested cause of no fees ( I had a bad experience where I was charged twice, so I don't use that ). American Express Serve closed my card and sent me a new one. They told me to fill out the dispute for both dates and they will investigate. I filled and sent it out and waited. I got an email saying " Recently you inquired about your charge ( s ) from your Serve card in the total amount of {$500.00}. Based upon our investigation we have determined that no error occurred and that transaction ( s ) in question was authorized. Therefore, the transaction ( s ) is not eligible for credit to your Account. '' I called the customer service and told them how was it authorized when I didn't authorize it? I got no help. My co worker told me to just keep sending a dispute. to keep fighting. I send a second one and again I received the same answer. I'll be sending a third one in a few days. How is it that I'm a good hard worker ( working so many hours, barely getting sleep, living paycheck to paycheck to get by ), when thieves can just come by and snag my hard earn pay and get away scot free? We trust the banks to do their jobs and to help their customers. That's what I do at my job. I care about my customers because it's them that pay your paycheck. They give you business. I would like them to do their jobs in actually do some investigating and get my money back that I honestly earned.
