Consumer Complaint: On XXXX the XXXX I went to the website to check too see what I had to pay for my hiltons honors American Express come to find out they closed my account no reason given I made a call in American Express and I told him that I was going to put in a complaint the next day on the XXXX I received a letter stating that I had spoke roughly to one of their people in customer service it is said in the letter dated XX/XX/XXXX that I use abusive language towards their members that is a lie, I had no reason to have abusive language towards their company I had no problem with their company, the only problem I had was a they a charge that I didn't know where it came from and that was did done over the computer. ( XX/XX/21 XXXX XXXX XXXX NY ) Which leads me to believe they are talking to another company that had a credit card that I just closed that is XXXX XXXX. I have had heated discussions with XXXX XXXX not American Express, ( I closed that card and asked for everything in writing ) if they did this I'm accusing them of collusion ( They are teaming up to shrink the available credit that effects the credit score, try to push me to pay day loans ). I was making the payments for the American Express on time in had no problems with their company I have a letter saying I use abusive language ( they need to tell me what abusive language I use in what it was about because I had no problem with them until XX/XX/XXXX. I had a problem with XXXX XXXX not them, I have the letter sent, I'm going to see about some legal action after this.

Consumer Complaint: American Express Serve Card permanently suspended by account on XX/XX/2020 with a balance of at least {$450.00} in account plus a dispute I won of {$4100.00} later deposited in it. When I called customer service to try and close account they would always tell me they had no information and they write a letter and mail it, which I've done several times. They only response I would get is I need a letter of indemnity which I also sent to them. Their own statement on closing account states : You may not close your American Express Serve Card Account, Subaccount ( s ), Goals or XXXX XXXX $ TM balance to evade an investigation or a disputed transaction ( s ). You may not close your American Express Serve Card Account or Subaccount if there is a negative balance in your Account or Subaccount,, if one or more pre-authorization codes with respect to American Express Serve Card Checks you have written are unexpired, or if there is an investigation pending or a Dispute related to the Account or Subaccount or associated American Express Serve Card or Subaccount card, and subject to Applicable Law, we may hold your funds for up to thirty ( 30 ) days or longer to finish conducting the investigation and/or protect us or a third party against the risks of payment reversals, chargebacks, claims, fees, fines, penalties, and other liability. I am not evading an investigation or even being investigated at all. And they even state they should hold funds up to 30 days but now it has been almost a year and my money is just sitting there when I really need it. Please help me to get my account closed and remaining balance to be sent to me by check.

Consumer Complaint: I would first like to say American Express is an excellent company and its is my favorite card to use. At the beginning of the pandemic in XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX of 2020 I had lost all my income due to the shutdown of the travel industry caused by the pandemic. I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and also a Veteran. Once I was able to restore my income, my on time payments returned like they have for the entirety of having my account. Prior to the pandemic, except for one late payment, my payment history has had no late payments. Several months ago, a customer service representative said they could remove one of the late payments, but unfortunately not the other two. As of today, I still have not received the one late payment removal on my credit report, but I would also like them to reconsider removing all three due to the pandemic shutting down the travel industry almost immediately. I understand this would be an exception to their policy, but if there is any industry that a person is employed who lost income immediately during this pandemic, it was many of us employed in the travel industry. This is my favorite card, and I use it heavily, and American Express is an exceptional company, I just wish they would reconsider their policy due to the pandemic because it is having a dramatic impact on my credit report and I would like to buy a house in another year.

Consumer Complaint: I had my tax refund and my stimulus check deposited on an American Express Serve card. I contacted the IRS and they verified the amount, date and account number that the money was deposited in. I followed their instructions on how to access the funds and no luck. There is no customer service help. I sent them a certified letter with everything documented and I still have heard nothing. We are talking about over {$2200.00}. For someone on XXXX thats a lot of money. Im disgusted with American Express and hope you can help. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: We were evacuated during hurricane XXXX by the state of Louisiana and we were in a motel for many weeks, we went months without no mail. Used credit card for everything, FEMA reimburse us for most of the cards. We had very poor living conditions where we were housed. FEMA was doing bank deposits to our accounts to cover these bills and then we were doing bank draft 's to the credit card company. They later claimed we did not pay them. They had double billed us and I would file dispute which went on since XX/XX/2020 to now. They would remove charge then week later put it back, pus add extra fees. Billed on charges with wrong dates, billed before we were evacuated. I closed the account, paid them over {$7000.00} in a few months then they turned it over to a collection agency. Tried to destroy my credit with credit reporting agencies. They finally removed most of the charges giving credits but never notified collection agency and now they are threatening me on charges that do not exist. They also failed to report the changes to credit reporting agency. I paid bill in full but {$50.00} and then they added charges which I had already paid. Hey claim the disputes were with motel when they were with the credit card company. American Express has taken advantage of our misfortune, took advantage of us with the fact that we didn't get mail for many months and we were making our payments without seeing bills and going by their good faith their word which turned out to be no good. Had been a customer with him for many years never was late late on a payment always paid my bills in full. As I said I gave them over {$7000.00} within several months. When we did get back to our home we were homeless lost everything our home and everything we own. XXXX XXXX XXXX is the collection agency and even after I called them they did not believe what I told them. Now I have received another threatening letter on charges I do not owe and even after American Express credit the account back they failed to notify the collection agency and is still trying to collect on money I do not owe. I have copies of it all. I'm homeless and living with a relative and isn't not enough American Express is now trying to destroy my credit and my character. I believe this is being done because I paid off the balance fast and they did not get to charge me high interest and extra fees. American Express failed to report the {$7000.00} to the credit reporting agencies also. Bottom line instead of using the money to secure me housing I paid my bills and for my actions and good faith they have turned my image into a lying thief. Now this collection agency is trying to collect on funds not owed. That can't be legal. American Express has preyed on the fact that we lost everything and have no funds to fight them. Beware check your statement non stop.

Consumer Complaint: I am back a few hundred dollars on my American Express bill. Like XXXX bucks. I make payments every month just not the minimum. They have called and harassed me daily and have called 4 other members of my family for whom no information has been given to them on their numbers. They called landlines and cellphones of these family members stating why they were looking for and giving up personal information about my account. No one else is on that account but me. The supervisor apologized and claimed they had no idea they have 15 people on one account. Then called me and said they couldn't tell me anything until I varified my name..but have called other members in my family to talk about my business. It's happened now multiple times for each person. Not once, like 3 or 4 times each person.
