Consumer Complaint: Complaint ID XXXX Hello Spoke yesterday with a gentlemen and went over my complaint situation with him and the response I received from American Express, that had no information about my complaint, or how they were going to resolve it. Receiving all my statements from American Express, since 2015 does me no good, as my complaint is how they are XXXX XXXX XXXX about when my bank says American Express received my last payment/funds and when they say they got them and applied them to my account! Now if they are " attempting to do this to my account ... What are they doing to others of their customers here in the United States? If they are just billing others the same way, it is really fraud and I am sure an illegal act! See my paperwork sent in from my bank, XXXX, and American Express said receipt of my payment funds. They do not XXXX I hope the CFPB gets to the bottom of this improper billing and the situation behind it ... for myself and other Americans and how American Express could be fleecing Americans. Thank You, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I had a American Express Card with a Credit limit of {$10000.00}. I had an excellent history with them, never missed a payment. Although I have not used their card not as much as I use my other card because of their high interest rate but it was helping me in a great deals to maintain my low ratio of my overall credit use. Instead of luring me use their card they have unfairly closed the account and this will tremendously effect credit use ratio. I this case I want Amex to reopen my account with same status before closing,

Consumer Complaint: My American Express credit card balance on my XX/XX/XXXX statement was {$1200.00}. I used my cash back rewards of {$52.00}, made additional charges of {$29.00} and a payment of {$1.00}. This left me with a balance of {$1200.00}. However, the website showed that I still had a Statement balance of XXXX. It did not apply the {$52.00} to the previous month 's balance, only the current month 's, so it showed that I now had to pay MORE than my current total balance in order to pay off the previous statement balance and avoid interest, even though this would result in a credit balance. The explanation I received from their online chat was : " I see that you've redeemed {$52.00} cash back on XX/XX/XXXX and it will post in your next statement. Once you use your reward dollars it gets adjusted towards the new charges and not the charges those are billed on the account. Hence it will lower next balance I see that your XXXX statement is closed with balance of {$1200.00} and you've made the payment of {$1.00} So, the Remaining statement balance is {$1200.00} which is due on XX/XX/2021 '' So, I submitted a payment for {$1200.00} even though this exceeded my balance. I received an email confirmation of this payment. Then, a few hours later I received an email that they had automatically reduced my payment amount to {$1200.00}, my total balance! This leaves me with a {$22.00} statement balance which if I don't pay, will result in me being charged interest, but their system is preventing me from paying. They are forcing me to pay interest by not applying the rewards statement credit to the statement balance, only the current month 's balance, even though it is reducing the total balance. I raised this issue with them and they said they would waive the interest charge, but I am still reporting this issue because it means their system is designed in a way to force people into a loop that causes them to pay interest unless they contact customer support like I am doing. They need to fix this system.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX Received an email from AMEX advising that my credit limit had been lowered from {$5000.00} to {$1800.00} ( 64 % ). It was strange enough to received this email on a Sunday, but the following added to the strangeness : 1. They reviewed my history with AMEX and Credit report- On-time payments for 2.5 years and my credit score has improved. 2. The number of accounts with delinquencies-4 ever late 3. Credit limits too high- I just paid AMEX {$4500.00} on XX/XX/21. My utilization went from 98 % to 62 % 4. The length of time you accounts have been established-Oldest 17.5 year and average 4.5 years. 5. Ratio of loan balances too high- not sure. Maybe recent personal loan to work on my debt. 6. 6 inquiries in the last 12 months 8. AMEX upgraded me to platinum last month. 7. I immediately called and was told that I have 2 options- pay {$350.00} by XX/XX/21 and my limit would be reinstated within 30 days or submit income documents for review and my limit MAY be reinstated within 30 days. Rep asked which I preferred and advised me that I should be lucky because not everyone gets this offer. Feels like extortion since they just received almost $ XXXX I don't understand and would like to know if this process is for every AMEX customer or just XXXX women.

Consumer Complaint: Monday XX/XX/2021 : I called American Express after being locked out of my account and was told my account was permanently closed ( several times within the conversation ) and that a check would be mailed to me. There was " nothing I could do aside from writing a letter to '' the P.O. Box. I requested this information in writing and the representative hung up on me. This was after nearly {$11000.00} XXXX {$9300.00} XXXX of it were government funds. The other deposits were from direct deposits from projects. Wednesday XX/XX/XXXX : I'm told that I need to contact a bank and have them write a letter of indemnity and send it directly to American Express. I asked them which bank and they said they couldn't give me the information. I asked -again- for a letter to be sent to me stating all of this. This happened early in the month so I received returned payments from my credit card, phone bill, and WiFi providers each charging a fee of $ XXXX. My rent check bounced. Had to change my direct deposits from previous gigs ; a nightmare I tell you!! Friday XX/XX/2021 I received an email about fraudulent activity that I was thought to myself " a permanently closed account can not have failed transactions '' so I called American Express and even going through notes, the representative on the phone was super confused and began an internal review of my account. Monday XX/XX/2021 : I receive an email about my account being back to normal.
