Consumer Complaint: I reported several times about Identity theft to AMEX, even through CFPB. Few month ago I was assured that AMEX is no longer reporting identity theft accounts and balances on my account and CRAs. Until now the information is still presented and reported constantly on my 3 credit reports.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020 I booked a flight to XXXX to take place in XXXX. The total price for the flights was {$2400.00}. When it became clear that this flight was not going to happen I called XXXX XXXX and asked if I could cancel my flight since it had already been rescheduled to a different time which opened up the ability of the ticket to be refunded. The agent on the phone told me that this was fine and to find the hidden area on their website to do this. The website kept changing back to XXXX every time that I went to a new menu and was intentionally difficult to apply for a refund. Desipite this, I applied for a refund for all of the flights that I booked. Months passed and I never received one dollar from them. I then disputed the charge with AMEX in XXXX. They denied my dispute and did not provide a reason why. I then contacted the Department of Transportation. The DOT responded to my inquiry and XXXX responded to my complaint that they were trying to refund the money but couldnt because of an open dispute. There was no open dispute. Weeks went by with no resolution. I then reopened again XX/XX/XXXX the dispute with AMEX showing them the email proof that XXXX airlines agreed to refund. I was denied again. I now have no money and no credit and the flight never happened. I am out the full {$2400.00}. Thank you for reading this.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 Bluebird American Express allowed to fraudulent charges to process on my account in the amount of {$1300.00} and {$880.00} and they refuse to refund my money. I received an email that charges were attempting on my account and that I added someone to my account and to contact them if that was an error. I contacted the company but they still allowed the charges to proceed. It seems like an internal theft, because typically this card puts a hold on your account until you call in and confirm the charge but for these charges they allowed them to process. I have requested the documents they used to make the determination not to refund my {$2300.00} but this is theft. I am behind on bills and this has hurt me and my kids. Please help.

Consumer Complaint: I received an offer from AMEX regarding a XXXX line of credit. I applied using my federal ein. the application asked for my social security number and specifically stated it was for identification purposes. My understanding is that the XXXX was applying for credit and not me personally. I was then declined and was given the reason that my personal credit score was too low and received a hard hit on my credit.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/21, I received a the attached letter titled " AmexltrXX/XX/21 '' from American Express, which seems to be in regard to settlement. ( Although this letter seems to elude to the alleged account being closed, due to settlement at a previous time, I have never stated that this alleged account has been previously settled at any time. ) I responded on XX/XX/21, with my settlement offer, in the attached letter titled " AmexltrXXXX ''. In my correspondence I specifically stated that my offer was not a validation request in bold letters at the bottom. But then, I received the attached letter titled " amexfalsecreditreportingXXXX '', stating that American Express reports their alleged account as '' in dispute '' with XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, andXX/XX/XXXX, credit reporting agencies. There is no dispute. This information is false. American Expresses behavior is harassment which defames my character and causes XX/XX/XXXX. There should be no doubt whatsoever that reporting this information is false.

Issue: Took or threatened to take negative or legal action
Subissue: Sued you without properly notifying you of lawsuit
Consumer Complaint: American Express notified me on XX/XX/2021, that it had assigned my account to law firm XXXX XXXX XXXX for collection. I sent a letter to that law firm disputing the debt on or about XX/XX/2021, and demanded validation. I did not receive a response within five days as required by FDCPA ( but was not aware of that five-day time period until I started researching to file this complaint ). On XX/XX/2021, having not yet responded to my validation demand, the law firm filed a lawsuit against me ( electronically ) in my county of residence. On XX/XX/2021, the law firm penned a letter " in response to a debt validation request '' I had made 60 days earlier ; the postmark on the envelope is dated XX/XX/2021 -- nearly four weeks after it filed the lawsuit. I was not served with the lawsuit until XX/XX/2021. However, the mere filing of that lawsuit during a period in which I had requested validation and it failed to provide such, is improper and in violation of FDCPA. Withholding service of the lawsuit until after I had received the validation response does not cure the fact that it filed such litigation BEFORE providing validation. Filing litigation most certainly constitutes taking action to collect the debt during a forbidden period. That lawsuit should be dismissed! In addition, the validation did not include a copy of any contract. As such, the account has not been sufficiently validated and should be removed from my credit report immediately, including all past negative reporting.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 - I went through the prequalification process with American Express. The website is : https : //www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/check-for-offers/ I received a response that I prequalified and was encouraged to apply. I have attached the response to this complaint. I applied and was denied credit. Response attached to this complaint. This is a bait and switch activity to get people to apply for the credit card. This is misleading advertising and my credit score took a hit. If I would have never been offered a prequalification, I would have never ever applied.

Issue: Problem getting a card or closing an account
Subissue: Trouble closing card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 I received a deposit for money owed to me by a government agency for {$17000.00}. Before I used this account I called The serve customer service line on the back of my card and asked them if a deposit of this size was ok and explained that these were funds were owed to me by a government agency namely the SBA. I was told that all was ok by the representative and I could initiate the deposit. The representative told me I just couldnt withdraw that amount right away as it exceeded the monthly allowed withdraw limit, which was fine because I didnt plan on withdrawing it. So I went back and contacted the funding officer that was my contact person at the government agency and they initiated the funds to be transferred. Later that day I find out that after the funds went to my account Serve froze my account and suspended it. Im not sure why. I went through a very rigorous approval process for this money and it has been owed to me for months, my account was verified with the government and the company who was in charge of initiating the funds on their behalf. This was my account and they approved it to be sent to that account. My person of contact at the SBA and my congressman recommended I file a complaint through the CFPB, both were aware of the process I went through to get this money that I was owed to me. As they are the ones that helped me with the paperwork to get my money back a few months ago. My contact person at XXXX XXXX told me to do whatever the officer at the sba said to do, as they are just an intermediary that sends the government approved and backed funds to the accounts that are given to them from the Multiple government agencies in my case the sba. What did I violate by having money owed to me by the government sent to my account? The company that sent me the funds was only doing so for the government and I have tons of paperwork to show if needed.
