Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX Went to pay my Property Taxes {$5800.00} the money is in my account, the bank wont honor/approve the check- Called on XX/XX/XXXX that I am incurring over {$200.00} in fees by them not honoring this check and giving an approval code.. on the phone off and on for XXXX hours getting hung up on by the system, and the finally speaking to a woman who said " APPROVAL '' and then put me back in the system to be hung up on again. I consider this theft of my money. XXXX states there is no request in the system And after asking what I need to do, she put me on hold and then came back and changed her statement to say the amount seems suspicious and transferred me to consumer protection, on hold another XXXX minutes.. Then system hung up

Amex XXXX refused to move the dates. They ultimately agreed to cancel the hotel room but reversed the {$200.00} credit, so I did not receive the promised benefit

Consumer Complaint: I filed a dispute back on XX/XX/XXXX of this year with American Express for a vacation package that I purchased back on XX/XX/XXXX. The day of the vacation my flight was cancelled by the airline. Messing up the reservations. I tried to resolve the issue with the travel agency to get a full refund back since I already purchased insurance on the vacation package. The travel agency started to give me the run around. Leaving me no other choice but to dispute this matter my credit card company which is American Express. The rep that I spoke to via live chat ensure me not to worry that he was going to help resolve this issue. A dispute was initiated and American Express credit back the entire amount which consisted of the hotel fee and the airline fee combine into one. Now the hotel did refund me their portion but it was not the amount they agreed to via email. Now almost three weeks later I received a letter from American Express stating that they are going to reverse the credit siding with the merchant without. Without reaching out to me to request any documents to support my dispute. Like the rep stated in the live chat conversation. A copy of the live chat conversation with one of the American Express rep will be upload to support my claims. It will show were I offered to forward email conversation between the travel agency and I to show proof of them promising a refund of the hotel stay which was about {$750.00}. I also reached out to the airline which is XXXX and they stated that they cant issue me a refund twice. Because the ticket purchase was charged back. I believe every purchase made with American Express is insured but the fact that they decided to side with the merchant as opposed to the cardholder says a lot. There should be some type of investigation on how American Express handle and process their dispute. I copy of this complaint was also sent to my state attorney generals office for further investigation. I have uploaded support documents to support my dispute against American Express

Consumer Complaint: In American Express ' response to my previous CFPB complaint, CFPB Complaint ID # XXXX, the response dated XXXX XXXX, 2022, American Express writes that they have attached their .PDF file response to the CFPB Complaint Portal for review . Upon opening my complaint and reviewing their alleged resolution, the file attachment is unavailable -- it is grayed out and there is no option to download it or to view it. This is yet another example of American Express ' fraudulent, deceptive and unfair practices, and they have outright lied that they provided a response, when in fact no such response, in the form of a .PDF file, is available for my review. American Express is again engaging in unfair and deceptive practices when resolving consumer complaints, this time by either intentionally not making their resolution XXXXPDF file available for viewing ; not providing their response in another manner than a .PDF file that was not uploaded properly and made available for me to download their resolution of my CFPB complaint ; or someone at American Express is entirely incompetent and doesn't know how to properly upload documents to make certain they are available for viewing and download by the consumer. American Express has falsified and lied in their response to my CFPB Complaint ID XXXX by not providing the documentation they stated they would in order to close out my complaint.

Consumer Complaint: I am an American Express Credit Card holder and have recently experienced a troubling and deceptive practices by this vendor. For example, I recently paid my account in full for XXXX statement ( closing date XX/XX/XXXX ) before the due date of XX/XX/XXXX. Per the credit card statement disclosure in my XXXX statement, it states : Your due date is at least 25 days after the close of each billing period. We will not charge you interest on purchases if you pay each month your entire balance ( or, if you have a plan outstanding, your balance adjusted for plans ) by the due date. I paid off the entire outstanding balance in XXXX and before the due date, therefore why did I accrue interest? American Express was able to waive the interest under a one-time courtesy, however as a consumer I was compelled to raise my hand after seeing the printed disclosure reflected on my statement and via the CFBP website. The American Express online billing allows a consumer to pay minimum payment, statement balance, total balance and other amount. I was told by American Express if I wanted to avoid interest charges, I would need to call customer service for them to generate a payoff balance and make a payment with the representative. Again, very deceptive practices, given my choice was to select total balance in full and I was still charged interest. All the options to pay off a balance via their online application, neither of the options calculate an actual payoff balance. This information again is not stated on their disclaimer, on how to truly avoid interest. One must call and speak to an agent. Account # XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 Reported fraud transactions that was not made by me or my spouse, then it kept going till XXXX XXXX! Called Amex again and asked them why are there more charges?? Well the person I spoke to on XX/XX/XXXX guess never closed the card and issue new card. Theyre were tota 8 transactions to a company that was in a different country. Youre talking about few thousand within 4 day time frame. Called American Express and reported, they credited back all 8 transactions. Then XX/XX/2021 out of the XXXX charges, 6 of them were charged back and have to pay. I reached out to Amex and asked them to reconfirm and the live chat customer service assured me that all 8 are credited back and I would not be charged. Then reached out again and ask them why only 2 transaction out of the 8 were disputed, which doesnt make sense! Who ever had placed the 8 disputes had obviously did it wrong and file all as unauthorized, but 2 transactions. All 8 transactions were unauthorized charges with same problem, same story, from same person, but only 2 got disputed. Makes no sense. I called multiple times and was told they re-opened for further investigation. Then had called asked for status and got the run around and was told again would need to re-open for investigation from back office. Which means the first time it was never re-open for investigation. Every time I call back for status, they keep saying have to wait and get answers from back office. Was in middle of buying a house and we couldnt have this high balance our credit report, by the time we had to close on our house. The lender would not approve and we could not close on the house unless we pay Amex off in full. So we had no choice but to pay what was outstanding, plus XXXX that was supposedly still under investigation. We have yet heard from Amex and was so tired and overwhelmed. Finally closed on our house and because of this, it have hurt us bad which caused us short on funds to take care of other bills. Then Amex lowered our credit limit due to other high balance/payment issue. Well guess what? Amex you are the caused how I started to fall behind. Below are the dates and amount of transactions. We have been with Amex for years and never have had experience with such bad customer service until this past year. Had ran out of energy to fight and gave up until I found out about how I can repot to consumer complaint and had no idea could do that till now. Consumer Complaint: Ill keep this short ( *I am XXXX and in the XXXX industry - not a XXXX that struggles with technology. I can only image the difficulties my mom would have with this ) : American Express has a predatory lending practice going on right now. On the TIL it says : When making a payment by mail : mail your payment to the address shown on the loan invoice, and write your loan account number on your check or negotiable instrument and include the payment coupon attached to your loan invoice. It does not provided an address to send to other than the one up top that looks like this : Lender : American Express National Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, UT XXXX However that is not the correct address to payoff a loan. In fact if you send it to that address American Express will do nothing. They will not forward it to the right dept. They will not tell you it was sent to the wrong address. Nothing. So I am now forced to pay more interest on an account I tried to pay off 3 weeks ago but have to wait 10 business days so they do nothing and accrue interest. There isnt another address on the TIL for the payoff to be sent to. No where on the XXXX statement does it make it clear the address that it should be sent to and the on address that says " lender '' is incorrect.
