Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: American express did not give clear info on credit reporting. Signed up for a payment plan to make account current. Account became current on credit report now shows delinquent although Amex informed me that my account would no longer report as delinquent because my payments are automatically Withdrawal. Account went delinquent again and they refuse to resolve the issue.

Issue: Problem getting a card or closing an account
Subissue: Trouble getting, activating, or registering a card
Consumer Complaint: I purchased an American Express Pre-paid gift card directly from the American Express website on XX/XX/XXXX. The card indicates on the front it is valid until XX/XX/XXXX. I've had the card in a draw since that time as with the pandemic I have not needed it. I attempted to activate and use the card today and it was denied. I called American Express XXXX XXXX twice and they told me they turned the money over to the Georgia Unclaimed property office. There is no reason they should have done that. I received no notification and the card says right on it that it is still valid until XX/XX/XXXX. The refuse to honor the card balance of {$200.00} and have now hung up on me 3 times.

Consumer Complaint: I have 3 accounts with American Express that were included in a debt consolidation agreement with my now ex-husband in XX/XX/2019. ( See attached debt consolidation agreement ). Amex marks these 3 accounts as late in XXXX of 2019 despite being part of the debt consolidation agreement ( once the agreement is signed, which is was on XX/XX/XXXX, it's out of our hands and the debt consolidation company takes over ). The payments were not late as they were all done through the debt consolidation agreement, and the payment plan has now been completed TWO YEARS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE, so it's very obvious that we weren't shirking our responsibilities, we paid everything on time and even several years early, yet it's still showing late payments in 2019 when they were under the debt consolidation agreement. I disputed it with XXXX and XXXX, and Amex replied to XXXX that they had updated the account, but it hasn't happened, the payments are still showing as late, and with XXXX Amex said the accounts were correct as reported so no changes were made.

Consumer Complaint: on XX/XX/2021 The Small Business Association deposited Funds of {$5000.00} usd into my Bluebird ( American Express ) account. Bluebird ( American Express ) Closed the account on XXXX XXXX shortly after the funds were received. I contacted Bluebird ( American Express ), after several calls and emails I was told that my account has been closed. I contacted Bluebird ( American Express ) to request that funds be released from closed account to my new account or sent back to Small Business Association. Bluebird XXXX American Express ) stated that they would only release the funds if and when they receive a letter of indemnity from Small Business Association. I contacted the Small Business Association and they informed me that they do not write such letters. I have sent several emails to Bluebird Investigation team explaining that SBA does not write such letters and asking what else could be done to have these funds released from said closed account. I have only received automated emails from Bluebird XXXX American Express ). No one has responded. SBA does not write letters of indemnity. I have spoken with a paralegal with SBA that states they do not write such letters and they have never ever received such a request. Bluebird ( American Express ) states that the account is closed but I still receive an account balance email weekly. I would like to know how I can have these funds released from account without letter of indemnity due to the fact The Small Business Association does not and will not provide such letters.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: I recently applied for an American Express XXXX card but my application was declined because American Express cancelled your previous account ( s ). The cancellation did occur, but it was so long ago that it has fallen off my credit reporting and is no longer meaningfully relevant to my credit history. I called Amex to clarify when I might be eligible to be approved for another account. The representative was not able to provide this information. I asked how long this blacklist lasted. The representative could not respond. Im not providing information to me, American Express is not being clear and transparent with its credit approval policies and is not giving me the opportunity to redress past concerns which might be adversely affecting my credit availability.
