Consumer Complaint: I could not find a more appropriate issue statement that this incident would fall under. In XX/XX/2022 at approximately XXXX, an unknown man in an unmarked vehicle dressed in XXXX XXXX wear without any identifying information ( such as a badge ) waited down the block from my home in his car with the lights off. When my husband pulled into the driveway of our home and opened the garage door, the man in the unmarked car sped up to my husbands car with their vehicle lights ( headlights and taillights ) OFF. This scared my husband so badly, that he hurried to close the garage door behind him. The man in the unmarked vehicle turned on his vehicle lights, walked up the driveway, and proceeded to pound on the garage door with his fist. According to my husband and our home security footage, the man never identified himself. Adding to the scariness of the incident, the man walked up to our front door, even though our house outdoor lights were off, and proceeded to pound on the front door, while also peering through our doors peephole and through the windows. All of this can be seen on our home security footage. Unbeknownst to us, the man just drops the legal papers at the door and leaves. We didnt know who he was or why he was there until we investigated the papers left behind and received notices through email that I had been served a lawsuit. Because I was so unnerved by the event, I called the police and had them write a report. I have attached it below.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I made a reservation for a hotel via AMEX 's website with my AMEX card on XX/XX/XXXX for {$1900.00}. I ended up canceled the reservation the next day with AMEX. A credit was issued for {$1900.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. AMEX has a program for my card called Pay Over Time and my balance I had before this charge had me paying roughly $ XXXX {$100.00} a month. My charge and credit happened within the same billing cycle so it should not have changed my monthly payment amount drastically. AMEX issued my statement for XXXX and has my minimum payment to be {$1900.00}. I was told by their Customer Service that it was because I did not pay my balance in full from the previous month 's billing. I'm not required to since it is Pay Over Time. I was also told that the credit for my reservation was issued as a payment to my account instead of as a credit for the reservation I canceled. Therefore, having me pay in full for a reservation I canceled. I spoke to two representatives on the phone and 3 via chat and I have received all different explanations as to why my payment for next month jumped from $ XXXX {$100.00} to nearly $ XXXX and no resolution as how to fix it. I believe it to be an accounting error with how the credit posted, but no one at AMEX understand it. They're only reading me my charges and credits off the statements that I can see for myself. I had to threaten to file a complaint before someone took me seriously and really looked into the situation. I was told it would be resolved in 72 hours, but I am not very hopeful.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of 2022 I submitted a payment of {$1300.00} to American Express through my XXXX checking account. The amount was subtracted from my checking account, but after two weeks it never posted to my AmEx credit card account. I first tried to deal with XXXX for this. They provided me with documentation about where the money went ( which wasn't my credit card account ) but said the rest was up to American Express to take care of. I submitted all the documents to AmEx in XXXX, they never contacted me about updates on my dispute, they closed my dispute, a representative on the phone tells me they intended to give me a {$1300.00} credit but that has never posted. It is now XX/XX/2022 and AmEx is still not assisting me with this problem.

Consumer Complaint: I have spent too long on the phone with your people, in the attempt to get an issue resolved, and was unable to get actual work done. There is 4 holds on my account from XXXX XXXX for XX/XX/2022 in the amount of {$35.00} 4 times total XXXX I was told that they can not do anything about it until XX/XX/2022, even if the merchant does not claim the charges. Asking for my ss number multiple times, which is a intrusion of privacy concerns and concerns of consumer propriety details. I am trying to transfer money from my account to another account but can not, as I am receiving an error that you can not fix Error : Oops! Well, this is awkward. Were experiencing some technical difficulties, please try again in a moment. I was transferred multiple times to get this issue fixed, and each time I am being transferred to get fixed or resolved, the person gets on the phone and they hang up. I then have to call back in and basically go through this process of verification of my ss number and dob all over again. I have been on the phone with your people since XXXX cst. This is taking too long and too many people and too many calls to fix issues that are on your side of the fence. I can not believe that you are running this type of business process. after Hanging up with last person from the company, my account suddenly went to permanent suspension. I called back in to serve, and was told that they can not help me. Fix the issues or I will send a report as high as the XXXX XXXX XXXX I have already reported you to the TXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I have submitted a report to XXXX and I have sent a report to the Banking Commission.

Consumer Complaint: I have been for the past 3 years trying to restore my identity and remove the fraudulent accounts opened online without my knowledge/ consent. 2 of which consist of AMEX credit card accounts ; acct # XXXX reported opened on XX/XX/XXXX with a charge off balance of {$1700.00}. The other account was deleted because it contained the person who committed the crime had his name added to the account. However, both accounts were fraudulently opened by a known and identifiable person by the name of XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have provided to copies of all supporting documents required to substantiate the basis of the dispute which include ; copy of a police report from XXXX XXXX, Federal Trade Commission report and XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) to AMEX as well as XXXX and XXXX. All supporting documentation contains account statements as well as the identifying information related to the specific person involved resulting in me being a victim of identity theft ( 16 CFR 603.2 ). I received a letter in the mail on XX/XX/XXXX AMEX that stated they will let me know once investigation was completed. XX/XX/XXXX AMEX mailed a following letter which included they determined I was the one who opened the account and could not accept my request to remove the fraudulent account. According to the Section 609 ( e ) of FCRA, I am entitled to ask for a copy of the original signed application contract as well as any other transactions on record AMEX used to determine the accuracy of information reported. I replied with a letter in pursuit of Section 609 ( e ) of FCRA requisition for the signed original contract along with what records AMEX used to conclude their results. On XX/XX/XXXX, my case worker from XXXX, XXXX XXXX and I called AMEX on a conference call to get a resolution. We spoke with a representative of AMEX by the name of XXXX XXXX XXXX ( I had a hard time understanding with the language barrier ) employee id he gave us was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I mentioned I have submitted the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION Report, XXXX Complaint, and XXXX TX Police Report regarding Identity Fraud all of which includes the AMEX account XXXX and specific details. The AMEX fraud department representative asked for the officers name, I gave him the officers name as well as the XXXX 's name that was assigned to my file. The AMEX rep mentioned that was all he needed and he would be finalizing the investigation and proceeding with the removal from my credit report. XXXX with XXXX asked for a report or reference number so we could have it for our file. AMEX rep mentioned he would be sending it over to me via email and would be sending a letter in the mail upon completion with in XXXX - XXXX weeks. AMEX never sent the email containing the information that was provided over the phone however XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter in the mail which stated, they can not accept my request as a result of concluding I was the person who opened the account. Ironically, when I searched the return po box , the address that is provided in the letter does not match the address in which is provided on AMEX website. Now, I am not only highly frustrated, I feel completely violated, again, because I responded to the 2nd letter via email to the address provided in the letter which included a copy of my social security, drivers license and other forms of identification to verify I am who I say I am because without sending those documents, the creditor likely will respond to the dispute denying to investigate without legitimizing where the letter came from, " information available to victims. '' Furthermore, as a person that is a victim of Identity Theft by both a known suspect and XXXX XXXX XXXX, with supporting documents, it is discomforting to know how I am currently homeless as a result of the damages done by others. In my opinion, this is a prime example of how easy it is for a scammer to get a hold of someones personal information. Moreover, how easy they seem to get away and or protected by credit reporting agencies.

Consumer Complaint: American Express made an internal mistake on my statement after I made a justified fraud complaint. I wasted over 20 hours in chats and calls addressing the matter, have been experiencing obfuscation and retaliation despite their managers admitting a mistake that would be addressed. I have always been on an autopaymet for the entire card balance monthly. I have a statement that is unequivocally miscalculated from it's own itemization, which their managers have even harassed and insulted me over in prior attempts to resolve the issue. I will no longer use this corrupt, incompetent and purposefully unhelpful service. I would like help resolving this issue with American Express so my credit score is not inappropriately harmed, I'm certain telling them I will not use their services in the future. They just eat up your time in trying to fix the problem. It's ridiculous harassment.
