Consumer Complaint: American Express is in violation of my federally protected consumer rights. They will deny it of course but I just had my credit limit reduced. For no reason other than my credit score. I feel discriminated against. I am a consumer with rights and they have violated them. I am being treated less favorably than other consumers due to my credit score. My credit score does not determine my creditworthiness. I have not missed a payment with American Express either. This was out of the blue and is detrimental to my way of life. They are affecting my well-being.

Consumer Complaint: I paid for a Hilton gift card issued by American Express. American Express had a promotion where the gift card could be purchased at a slightly discounted price. I have verified that the card contains {$100.00}. I attempted to use the gift card for a stay at the Hilton XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. The only way to attempt to use the card is at checkout upon leaving the property. There is no way to pay with the gift card upon booking or arriving at the hotel. The front desk was unable to process the my gift card upon checkout. She apparently attempted this in different ways and for different amounts. All were declined. I had to pay for the stay entirely with a credit card. I rarely stay at Hilton 's and it may be years before I have an opportunity to attempt to use the card for payment again. Upon returning home and researching the issue, I found numerous examples posted online where American Express knows about this and has not fixed the issue. You're basically playing the lottery with these cards, hoping that the gift card will be accepted. See XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: According to Section 602 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 USC 1681, " there is a need to ensure that consumer reporting organizations execute their grave duties with fairness, impartiality, and a regard for the customer 's right to privacy. '' I am the Consumer, and XXXX and XXXX are consumer reporting companies. 15 USC 6801 states that " it is the intention of the Congress that each financial institution has an affirmative and continuous commitment to respect the privacy of its customers and to maintain the security and confidentiality of those customers ' nonpublic personal information. '' Furnisher of information to credit agencies is, by definition, a financial institution. Section 604 a section 2 of 15 USC 1681 reads that " In general Subject to subsection ( c ), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no other : in accordance with the written instructions of the consumer to whom it relates. '' The financial institution and the consumer reporting companies, XXXX and XXXX, do not have my consent to supply this information, and they certainly do not have my written authorization. Any and all verbal, nonverbal, written, implied, or other agreement to XXXX, XXXX, or all financial institutions are revoked. Also, 15 USC 6802 ( b ) ( c ), " a financial institution may not disclose nonpublic personal information to a nonaffiliated third party unlessthe consumer is provided with an explanation of how the consumer might exercise that nondisclosure option. '' I was never informed of my right to exercise my nondisclosure option by any financial institution. Not only that, but 15 USC 1681C ( a ) ( 5 ) states, " Except as authorized under subsection ( b ), no consumer reporting agency may make any consumer report containing any of the following items of information : Any other adverse item of information, other than records of criminal convictions that predate the report by more than seven years. '' This account is an adverse item they are reporting without my permission which is illegal. " A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate, according to 15 U.S. Code 1681s2 ( A ) ( 1 ) A. " Every consumer reporting agency shall maintain reasonable processes designed to avoid breaches of part 1681c of this chapter and to confine the provision of consumer reports to the objectives indicated in section 1681b of this title, '' according to 15 U.S. Code 1681e. Reasonable procedures are not being maintained by XXXX and XXXX. Also, according to 12 CFR 1016.7, " a consumer may exercise the right to opt out at any time. '' I am declining your reporting services.

Consumer Complaint: A purchase was made on XX/XX/XXXX from some place called XXXX XXXX on My Serve Blue American Express Card. When I called the customer service from Serve Blue, I was told to put in a XXXX dispute /claim. I did was denied without explanation. I was told that I would have to but my request in writing and send to Serve. I did, not correspondence came back. So I put in a second and third fraud and both were denied again without explanation. I have since called and now my account has been closed. I have not received any verbal, written or email for the whereabouts of the transaction. This the 3rd time since opening the account in XXXX that monies have been taken from my account without explanation. Usually I put in the declaration of fraud and the money is returned. I have proof of each time. But this time, I am being taken to limits that should not be for {$85.00}. I have asked to speak to a supervisor and of course there is not office I can go to to settle my didspute.

Consumer Complaint: Two accounts showing from AmEx appear on my credit report. I have NEVER had an account with American Express other than a Bluebird Prepaid Card. In fact, I have attempted to get a card with them for many years and have always been denied. I have spoken with Customer Care multiple times and been assured that since these accounts were a result of identity theft, I would not be responsible, yet still show these on my credit report / get copies of the balances due in my email. These notices continue to say " FINAL REMINDER '' yet... they continue. I've been getting final reminders for several years now. All on a balance that I do not owe.

Consumer Complaint: This is a follow-up to CFPB Complaint ID XXXX. American Express ' response was non-informative and did not resolve my complaint/claim. Their response was the same response provided by the Customer Service Representative - very high-level information that does not show me exactly how AMEX calculated the interest charges as a result of my partial payment during the grace period. For each billing cycle in scope for my complaint, I want to see the numeric and formulaic detail used to calculate the " trailing interest '' charge for each period. This includes the exact transactions that were charged interest as a result of my partial payment, when did the daily interest charges start and stop, the daily interest rate, etc. I should be able to use the requested information and validate it by replicating the detail in an XXXX spreadsheet and come-up with the same total interest charges for each billing period in question. I can not do this with the information provided by AMEX so far.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX of XXXX my vehicle was in a flood and my transmission was flooded. XXXX XXXX XXXX had my car towed to XXXX XXXX an XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX gave specific instructions to XXXX to purchase a transmission and to place that transaction into my vehicle. In XXXX I was given the amount that was agreed upon to pay XXXX. Prior to XXXX I was given documents of the contractual agreement between XXXX and XXXX of the transmission that will be ordered in placed into my car by XXXX. XXXX I was told to go pay in pick up my vehicle the same day as I was told it was completed When I picked up my vehicle XXXX the XXXX assured me that my vehicle transmission had been replaced and the car was up and running. I was given the keys and drove off. Once onto the highway my vehicle engine light came on, my steering wheel was turned and the car was knocking and I pulled over and called XXXX. He stated it was not the transmission and he stated it sounds like something else and to take it to the dealer or someone that repair engines and get a wheel alignment. I stated that why give me a car that was not drivable and I said I have to bring the car back, XXXX stated again that is not something we repair. I inturned contact XXXX. XXXX left messages and was unable to get a hold of XXXX. After many attempts to have my car returned to XXXX, XXXX XXXX requested that in XXXX to take my vehicle to an independent shop ti be inspect since XXXX was not cooperating The car was sent to XXXX XXXX the company that built my car and asked for a tear down, as we needed to get to the bottom of the problem. Since my warranty was through XXXX. The tear down inspection revealed that the XXXX that was paid to XXXX to replaced my transmission never happened. We interned contact the company where XXXX was instructed by XXXX to order the part. The company stated XXXX never purchased the transmission. XXXX did an unauthorized repair and kept the money that would have paid for a tranmission. After discovery XXXX was able to get a hold of XXXX, and XXXX finally agreed that he never purchased the tranmission, but repaired my flooded tranmission and they kept the money. That tied StateFarms hand because the money was given to me and I used my Amex Card to pay for the transmission and as stated once the transmission as I thought was in my car, I paid and picked my car up that day believing XXXX did as promised With that being stated, since I paid with American express, XXXX requested that I get a charge back for a unauthorized repair and the fact that I never recieved my ordered Transmission. My car remained at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX as I disputed the amount to get my charge back onto to my American Express XXXX. I remained in a rental car and used my American Express card for those rentals and American Express can review those rental transactions. On XX/XX/XXXX I contact American Express while at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, as they where willing to order the transmission and place into my vehicle. Upon speaking to your dispute resolution representative he said good news as he looked into the case and stated it was closed in my favor and to go ahead and purchase my new transmission and sorry for all that I have gone through. I intern asked is he sure because the cost that will go onto my card is XXXX dollars and I don't want to be responsible for the XXXX he assured me I would not. I recorded as he also stated we are on a recorded line. I placed him on speaker so the XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX could hear this as well. I placed my order for the transmission as directed finally feeling at peace. Shortly after the XXXX was placed back onto my account, when I contact American express they apologized and stated the representative made a mistake. I stated you can't make such a mistake and cause me to be responsible for XXXX dollars that is a knew car. The representative reopened the dispute and asked for more documents including me stating the document that XXXX claimed I signed and authorize the repair. I stated I never authorized anything the XXXX from XXXX XXXX and XXXX had a contractual agreement. That is my insurance company that had a contractual agreement, I can't agree to anything and my warranty does not come from XXXX it comes from my insurance company and I don't make the cost agreement or say what is needed on my car, once the Insrance inspector inspects my car at the shop ; they just tell me what the results are and how they are going to repair my vehicle to back to standards. American express representative asked that I send a copy of my signature and that they understand that this was an unauthorized transaction and went onto say that I was correct they only sent XXXX documents and you should not be responsible for an unauthorized repair as well as you never got your transmission that should have been purchased a good thing I got an independent shop to inspect tge vehicle and a letter from the insurance company. You have a lot of information she went onto say, no worries if this was me I would not pay as well and XXXX XXXX why would you need XXXX transmission for the same car? She went onto say, I need the department that handles disputes to really look into the documents because it is clear that they have a date on the document they claim you signed is on the same day you picked up your vehicle, we see no preauthorization of you signing them to do this type of repair and we have XXXX contract as to the instruction they failed to follow after they agreed to do so. You should not be responsible for this. I said thank you and after sending what American Rxpress requested, American Express recently stated to send the car back to XXXX they are now willing to repair it. I stated who is inspecting this. I also like to mention that one representative stated from American Express to file a police report and send it to them. I stated that is not how that works in the US. If you have insurance they handle your claim you don't make the decisions as to the amount of repair that is between the adjuster and the repair shop. XXXX is XXXX customer, not me. It is fraud if I'm involved, I am requesting a charge back. When explaining this to the Federal Trade Commission they also stated that, The Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) explains the specific that I do have the right to dispute a credit card charge for bad service especially since my car had an independent investigation and I tried several times to have XXXX to take my car back and purchase the transmission as agreed. XXXX and I did everything possible as well and I contact XXXX corporate office and sent you a screen shot of that call. XXXX the owner did contact me months later he is the owner of XXXX and verbally told me that I had no warranty to talk to XXXX and I did. This company is deceiving you and me. I Have No Warranty With Them how can I authorize them to do work when XXXX has to authorize that, the XXXX Representative that is making decisions on this case truly don't understand that and the representative gave me to go ahead to charge XXXX plus dollars on XX/XX/XXXX stating the case with XXXX was in my favor. American express has to pay XXXX of them I don't find it fair because of your misinformation that I pay both charges. Your representative should not have told me it was in my favor. Last, XXXX seem to have been deceptive with you as well as myself. My evidence is very strong and everything that you asked for I provided.

Consumer Complaint: I have disputed 2 addresses with XXXX, and they keep refusing to remove it. It is not my address and I have never gotten any credit from this address. I have lived in my same home since XXXX. They say it is a American Express. I have had cards where a business used my information to open the cards. I have sent Amex that as well and told them to send me validation it was mine and they still can not validate the debt or show me proof of how these addresses are mine. It is hindering me as when I need to verify myself it wants me to use an address that is not mine. Why are addresses being used that are not mine and fraudulent and why can't I have them removed when they can not prove they are mine? This is very frustrating for me that people can use my information and I am forced to keep it on my credit report, and it is not me nor have I ever used these addresses. I am not sure what else to do.

Consumer Complaint: I was given an American Express, " AMEX '', Prepaid Gift card as a " cash '' prize for a notable sum of money. I was given it in the form of a url. I have no account information, no password to protect the card, just a link that tells me everything about the card. I also was not asked to register a name or billing address, just told to use my normal information. Upon trying to use the card, I was rejected at nearly all modern major retailers I tried online. In particular, XXXX and XXXX, both of whom specifically list American Express Prepaid Gift Cards as acceptable forms of payment, were not able to complete transactions with the card. Additionally, in person at an XXXX store the card was denied when used via XXXX XXXX XXXX. I called each service and spoke with a live support agent who said that American Express was rejecting the transaction. Other sites I recall that don't work are XXXX and XXXX A common theme is that if an online retailer asks for the address, the transaction usually fails. American Express support strongly emphasizes I need to use vendors that request the expiration date and pin, despite all online vendors already doing that, and it seeming to make no difference. As for in-store transactions, as I said above, XXXX rejected it, but grocery stores ( Such as XXXX XXXX, a XXXX chain XXXX and most food service places accepted it. Since I received the card I have moved states, and at first it seemed that in-store transactions continued to work. But, about a week after moving states, the card is now rejected everywhere I have tried, despite me not changing anything with the card in my XXXX XXXX app. It worked at XXXX ( another XXXX chain ) two weeks ago but not is consistently " Not Approved, '' XXXX rejects it outright. Local mom & pop restaurants all reject it. MOST IMPORTANTLY : American Express customer service has provided no meaningful support. They read off a script and tell me what it says online, and tell me if the card doesn't work then I should blame the retailer. They offer no solutions or alternatives. In the weeks I have tried working with them, their phone support has been redesigned in an attempt to prevent speaking with an agent. Instead, they offer automatic prompts that ask me to press a number, and none address my question. They only offer to read me a balance, list answers to pre programmed questions that don't remotely address my issues, or they redirect me to the online support, which then redirects me back to the phone system. I am now only able to reach an agent by reporting my card stolen as if it's a physical card ).
