Consumer Complaint: American Express issued a card to the XXXX XXXX XXXX which is owned by me. American Express is reporting the account to all three bureaus as a " charge off, '' however I am still paying the required minimum payment on the account every month AND accruing standard interest as per the card issuer agreement. American Express refuses to remove the " charge off '' status from my credit report despite my continuing to pay the required minimum payment and accruing and paying interest as stated in the cardholder agreement.

My bank shows the payment being sent on that day. Amex is showing the payment received the following day and has charged me a late fee. Consumer Complaint: I was attempting to apply for the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card from American Express on XX/XX/23. During my application it informed me that I would not be eligible for the sign up bonus. I reached out to American Express on XX/XX/23 to see what the problem was. They listed a number of things that " could '' be the problem but none of them seemed to apply to my situation. They informed me they have no way of knowing why a denial happens and it almost seems random to them. After speaking with American Express I thanked the representative for their time, assured them I did not hold them at fault for the policies of their company and mentioned I would be submitting a complaint to the NY AG based on what seemed to be a discriminatory policy. They seemed concerned and mentioned they could help me submit a complaint to American Express to have someone higher review it. After a minute or so on hold the line was disconnected. I will be submitting the complaint again in writing as there is now some concern on my end that the representative was not able to forward the details to a higher level as discussed. The lack of clear reason for approval or denial seems like a discriminatory practice. The XXXX may not specifically require this for a welcome offer but its spirit definitely implies any reason for denial of any product, service, or promotion by American Express should have clear and unambiguous rationale behind it to confirm the policy is not discriminatory.

Consumer Complaint: I have an American Express credit card account that has been active for 7 years. During these I have never encountered a problem until now. In XXXX I received an email threatening to lower my limit unless I paid them over {$3000.00}. I thought the demand was outrageous. For starters I am going standing with my account, no missed nir late payments. So, I called to see what going on and the rep tells me that American Express done a review and that it may have been something on my credit report. I knew it wasnt anything going on with any of my creditors. I explained that to the rep and voiced my disappointment with their practices. After I decided to check my report and found that my debt ratio had increased because a creditor placed a duplicate account on the reports. However, ALL of my creditors are in great standing, nothing reporting negative ever. I called Amex back and explained the situation while voicing my concern of target good card holders regarding nothing that affected the accounts I hold with them. I got nowhere. Meanwhile, my account has been flagged to receive multiple texts ( I never signed up to ) and emails reminding me to pay them. Harrassment for no reason. I checked my credit report today XX/XX/2023 and American Express reducing my account has cause XXXX XXXX point drops to my credit reports. American Express has damaged my credit for no reason. I could see if I did not pay or missed payment even payments, but I have not. They based their decision because of my credit report and because I was not paying them off? Who doees American Express think they are. This company has totally gotten this practice all wrong.This is agreed terms of a credit card this is not a charge plate. I pay at least what is required. American Express is horrible and harrassing good customers for money. I am not sure if the company is doing bad, but this kind of treatment is inexcusible. I am not one of those customers that does not pay to agreed terms of the account. American is has damaged my credit for nothing. I refuse to be muscled, harrassed or pressured into paying off the balance when they tell me to. When I decide I want to pay in full I will, but until then they will receive payment as agreed. They claimed to be prestigious, but they are trash. An excellent company would never, never do something that would damage their customers creditor without it being warranted. I have warned every family member and friend to beware of their unfair practices to loyal, paying customers.
