Consumer Complaint: I received an American Express Gift Card as a gift. The amount is {$500.00}. I am able to login to the card 's website and check the balance. I am unable to use the card anywhere! I have tried online stores, and brick and mortar stores, and NO ONE will accept it. The card does not allow you to register an address, and hence when the transaction is placed, the merchant 's system is unable to verify the card against an address. I called their customer support and asked for a list of merchants that accept the card. They said they don't have a list, and they are unable to help any further. On the back of the card it states, " Use at U.S. merchants that accept American Express Cards. '' This is clearly untrue because all the locations mentioned here accepted American Express credit cards. This is a HUGE problem. This product should not be sold to anyone. In an age of credit card chips, this type of gift card does not have enough security built in, and no merchant is going to accept it.

Consumer Complaint: I purchased a prepaid card from XXXX with the amounts of {$300.00} on there the card was supposedly never correctly activated at the store I have contacted them got in a hold of XXXX XXXX I've sent them everything possibly needed I emailed them over five times I faxed and over two times everything that they needed from me and every time I do get a call I either get disconnected or they hang up on me and this has been since XX/XX/2023 and all I want is my money it's been over every time I talk to them they tell me to send it in again and wait 10 business days 10 to 15 business days no I'm not doing it again I want my money

Consumer Complaint: You get flooded with emails every day I can imagine. I used to work for XXXX XXXX and I always respected Amex as a head of the curve. I remember when XXXX XXXX was dipping its XXXX in XXXX XXXX ( 10 years ago ) and you all were with XXXX XXXX things. I am writing to you today because I had major fraud charges against my account and provided ample evidence showing such and they seem to just not care. It's rare I look up an executive at a major firm to write an email like this. I don't want to make a long story short but basically, I got in a major accident in XXXX and had to have XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. The hospital in XXXX took my credit card and charged it to beyond $ XXXX. I would be okay with that except for the fact they promised to only charge {$5000.00} on it. Now here is where things get interesting : After they charged me the amount of money they did : In the emergency room they told me that it was going to be {$5000.00} to operate and keep me XXXX. I agreed and gave them my credit card and went into that XXXX that XXXX. I stayed in the hospital XXXX and when I awoke out of XXXX the next day I had to get to an airplane to get back to the united states. Now they gave my credit card and items back out of XXXX. When I checked the American Express Bill I had 3 charges : - {$1900.00} - {$6500.00} - {$1300.00} Totaling : {$9700.00} Now I have proof I sent in they also billed the Insurance Company for XXXX They are double dipping. Getting my credit card charges of {$9700.00} + XXXX So when I disputed it they keep siding with the Hospital in XXXX, XXXX. When I keep providing proof to the disputes team they keep saying the charges are justified. They are literally running away with both more money then they should but also over charging me in the first place. I placed a response with CPBF and working at XXXX XXXX I know that can help. But the team was smart enough to say we are still investigating, even though they closed out some of the disputes. What I am trying to get at is they fraudulently charged my card, billed my insurance a different amount, and Amex Disputes team is ignoring the fact they are double dipping both my insurance and the Amex card. This is just purely not right. I don't look for C-level emails but once and a while you hear about a C-level actually going there is something wrong here. A hospital took his card, charged him without his consent, billed his insurance to get additional money, and the disputes team wants to take the easy way out and not deal with it. It's been a nightmare of a scenario especially because I had to have the entire XXXX redone from XXXX because of how bad they messed things up. But for some reason the Disputes team just refuses to take the facts in and keeps accepting that the XXXX XXXX, even with documentation from the insurance company, everything is normal. I hope this reaches the right group so they can really understand that this is not okay.

Consumer Complaint: The American Express e-gift card is unusable. I have tried the card several times at both online and in-person retailers, and the card has been declined each time. I have called customer service six times, and each time, I am told the card is fine and it is simply the retailer 's security practices. Simply put, the gift card can not be used at local restaurants or retailers such as ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and more. The amounts hav varied from {$85.00} to {$1200.00} USD. Customer service has tried to remove security holds and confirmed my available balance was sufficient to cover each of the above transactions. I asked customer service to try to reissue the gift card, but was told that since it is a e-gift card, they are unable to issue a new card. I then requested a refund and was provided a case number ( Case # XXXX Refund request ) and received an email from the support department stating they are unable to resolve my issue and must call customer service yet again. Round and round we go, with no resolution in sight. The gift card is worthless and a full refund of {$1500.00} is the only resolution at this point.

I was a customer American Express and held a XXXX XXXX, during a difficult transition in my life, I fell behind with this credit card. As soon as permissible, I paid this account off in full as agreed dated XX/XX/XXXX. Upon referencing my updated credit report It is currently states. " Your account has overdue payments. Pay the minimum amount to avoid a charge off going to collections ''. When applying for credit, it seems as if this delinquency is current in which this is a Paid Charge-Off ''. As previously mentioned, I have done my due diligence in satisfying my debt and I am asking and pleading to have this status changed. On a previous occasion, I had requested to have my status changed and was not as successful however, on this occasion I would like yo have my payment history to be neutralized as it affects my ability to grow with your company as well as other lenders or update my history to reflect that this is not currently a past due account across all three bureaus. Consumer Complaint: A private ledgering instrument was sent to AMERICAN EXPRESS Card Services for the account number XXXX, they credited my account for {$10000.00} for payment sent in May and processed the XXXX of payment on XX/XX/XXXX which was the XXXX of payment of {$10000.00} has since been reversed on XX/XX/XXXX over 60 days saying it was declined, I've ask American Express to please return XXXX of payment and documentation of the decline XXXX of payment so that I may address the issue of payment, instead they have kept said XXXX of payment and have since securitized it and no longer possess the XXXX of payment. Please see the attached sample of all documents and the need to correct their billing error. I have also instructed AMERICAN EXPRESS Card Services to contact the IRS commissioner if they do not understand what to do with XXXX sent for this account # XXXX. Re : XXXX OF PAYMENT TO CREDIT ACCOUNT In the matter of XXXX XXXX XXXX, Account number XXXX, concerning CREDIT on account and as of to-date my account is still missing the XXXX of payment of {$10000.00}. I also sent an additional XXXX of payment of {$15000.00} and it was received however when I logged onto my online account I did see where they have the {$15000.00} in XXXX and that is also attached, Then I sent a payment by money order of {$15000.00} and that was never credited nor returned. Now American Express has over {$40000.00} in XXXX of payment credits not applied to my account. In XXXX of XXXX, another form of XXXX was sent in the amount of {$40000.00}, hereinafter XXXX, for the credit of Account Number XXXX, hereinafter ACCOUNT was e-filed with the Internal Revenue Service, and duly accepted by same. IRS acceptance notification received, by the Undersigned, on XX/XX/XXXX. Therefore, XXXX XXXX XXXX, requests that the balance of the ACCOUNT be adjusted to reflect the ledgering of said XXXX of {$40000.00} and the XXXX of {$40000.00} accepted by the IRS to send credit to AMERICAN EXPRESS Card Services. Please note that contracts requiring legal money such as cash, check, money orders, bank transfers, wire transfers, and Federal Reserve Notes ( DOLLARS ) are illegal and unlawful by Title 31 U.S.C. 5118 ( d ) ( 2 ) ; 31 U.S.C.A. 463 ; and Public Law 97-258 ( XX/XX/XXXX ). XXXX XXXX XXXX has XXXX private credits through the use of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX account to credit this matter.
